Challenging HOG Mystery
I love detective games but in this one you belong to a secret division of the FBI investigating archives of highly classified (think paranormal) activity, so it's definitely not a CSI style game.
This is a challenging game. The story and plot is well done, even if once again we are stuck in an abandoned place (this time a ghost town, complete with resident ghosts).
Graphics are standard (high quality) for new games. Objects in the (many, many) scenes, are relatively clear and correctly labelled. The journal is excellent and necessary reading if you take an interest in the unfolding story. There is a map that is neither interactive nor marks your current location.
The hint system is first-class. It tells you where to check next and can take you there instantly, without using up the hint.
There is some back and forth but it's possible to use the hints to travel quickly to where you need to go. Most of the town is closed off to you early on and you gradually open up more areas.
Hidden object scenes are plentiful. They are of the usual dark and dreary abandoned junk pile variety, but nicely done with some great interactive items that are fun to solve.
Only 2 game modes. I played advanced in the demo and it is not possible to switch modes once started. I recommend the easier mode as I often missed things I needed, and I did not complete the demo in the allotted hour.
Puzzles are challenging but skip-able.
The developers of this game also made the Love Chronicles series so it's a definite change of theme for them. While some things felt overly familiar - abandoned gas station, abandoned diner - the great cut scenes and unusual story made up for the deja-vu in the setting.
This is a high quality game with a great plot. The cut scenes are movie quality and use real actors. Lots of voice-overs, a responsive cursor, fast animations and a helpful journal promise several hours of enjoyable yet challenging investigation.

hats off to a good find!
I just finished my hour for this game & it's a definite buy for me! The graphics are excellent, the music is ok, but tolerable. I loved the hint button because it showed you what to do next. Other HOG's could take some tips from this game, unless it's a CE. Loved it!

Gov't coverup+sci-fi flavor=good gaming
*imo, based on the demo*, so far i agree with others who are seeing this game as reminiscent of an X-Files type theme (oh Mulder, wherefore are thou Mulder? :), & that's a plus in my book. There's nothing like a good government coverup with sci-fi flavor to force my finger to the "buy" button, 'specially when i get to be the "highly trained special agent" investigating. Overall quality seems pretty decent to me: cutscenes are well done with actors who i think are as good as any artistically rendered characters would be; there are enough HOscenes so far (hopefully not an overabundance thru the game), but they're not difficult or overpopulated with junk, & are interactive; graphix are good & i think appropriate to the setting of a long-deserted, creeped out town full of apparitions, coverups, & possible murder or worse (sounds enticing, huh?). The hint button is nice, showing a pic of a place to go for clues or action, & you can get there via the pic. I've only seen a couple of puzzles so far, easy, & can't say what will pop up later. Two modes of play so if it's feeling too easy on casual mode you can bump up the challenge. I like a journal, & this one fills up with plenty of reading material & needed info you capture as you go. Music hasn't even registered with me, so it must not be too bad, right. TSF is feeling like a fun & interesting game & i now NEED to find out how it ends, This isn't Dorian Gray quality, but i do think TSF is definitely worth a demo, & is a really decent game for a SE release. Give it a go, & have fun. Now pardon me while i go covert...

VERY well done!
Just yesterday I was wishing for a science fiction mystery and here it is - and VERY well done!
I really enjoyed this and played it practically straight thru in about 6 hours. The gameplay is non-linear but reasonably logical. I hadn't done everything in the same order as was expected but the gameplay was unperturbed by my odd playing order.
The hint system is singularly helpful in that not only lets you know the place you need to be next, it gives you the picture of the scene and takes you directly there if you like. Loved that!!!
All the animations were great throughout the game and the music was pleasant and nonintrusive.
Also, a satisfying ending most all loose ends tidied up.
I look forward to the next game by this developer. More, please.

Good Eyesight Needed
Where are Mulder and Scully when you need them? How I miss the X-Files and although the story behind TSF runs along the similar lines with our lead agent investigating a government cover- up involving a deserted Town, sadly the quality of graphics made this game somewhat painful to play. I was thrilled at the opening scene when the V/O began the story. However I then found myself in a world of blurry and very dark graphics where the most challenging part to be had was finding objects, ultimately causing great strain to my eyes. TSF could have been a great game to play had it not been for this very annoying factor. Game features offer you two play modes, you have a journal which gives you alot to read and a map that only shows you where you are. I liked the hint system which thankfully works outside of the HOG scenes and offers you a photo of where to go if you get lost. As for the HOG scenes? They are crowded, blurry and interactive. You have alot to do, finding inventory items which in my case meant clicking away blindly through the grainy scenes. On a positive note, I enjoyed the puzzles and mini-games and as I said, had the graphics been of better quality, this would have been a top-notch game. I will however recommend it for those who have extra credits to spare and are fans of the Sci-Fi genre. Just remember to wear your glasses......

Surprisingly good!!
I needed to use up my free game, so I got this game and hoped for the best. I was happily surprised to find that this game was challenging, entertaining, and beautifully drawn with great HOs. I really enjoyed it and couldn't stop playing it!
I highly recommend this game, I am a HOG snob so I'm kind of hard to please, but this one did!! I hope they make so more real soon - GO TOP SECRET FINDERS!

Rather dreary with no excitement
Well another game in which I am on the fence; the graphics are rather dreary & some areas are very dark & only by playing on Casual mode could I find some important items as there was a little glint to mark them out. In addition on casual the hint has a 30 second recharge whereas on advanced it is 60 seconds, both modes have a mass of sparkles for the hidden object scenes.
The H0 scenes are well drawn, there are both objects ?hidden? within the scene & interactive objects although some at first sight are rather crowded with items. There were not many puzzles during the demo & they were the usual types, tiles, turn lights on in sequence, reassemble papers, etc & there is a skip button if needed.
You will find a map a little way into the game but it isn?t a lot of use apart from giving a general layout of the town, it is not interactive nor shows where an open task may be. However if you get stuck the hint is very good as it will show a small picture of the scene you need to visit & has a ?go? button which will take you right there. This is a good thing as otherwise you will do a lot of walking back & forth trying to work out where to go next.
There are voiceovers & these vary between excellent & really bad; the cut scenes have live actors whose mouth movements do not always synch with the speech. I am sad that so many games are using real people as I prefer to see good artwork. The music is good but the background sounds do repeat rather too often, I keep hearing the same set of footfalls & a police siren regularly.
I rather lost the plot on the story as there was a lot of dialogue which could not be clicked through & I sort of stopped listening halfway through as in some cut scenes which seemed to go on forever.
Having just read back through what I have written I think I have talked myself out of buying this game, nothing excited my interest. My review is on the hour long demo as I will not be purchasing.

Interesting HOG adventure - A guy's review
*Review based on completing the full game in advanced mode*
This is a good game, even though I feel that it could have been even better. The story about the mysterious ghost town and how it got to be that way and the mystery that unravels itself through visions in bits and pieces throughout the game keeps the story and gameplay interesting. It is a bit shallow, and could have been made a bit deeper with not too much extra effort. Nonetheless I found the storyline catching.
The visual quality of the game is quite nice, even though it feels a bit grey and empty at times. The hog scenes (and there is quite a bit of them) are not really too crowded, but most of them are rather dark, and I feel that the graphics could have been slightly sharper here.
Sound quality is good, and the background music is not annoying (still I always turn the music down low). The voice acting however leaves much to be desired, though this is not a big buck Hollywood production, so one does not expect too much in this department. I have seen (or heard) better in similar games though.
The game has live acting as opposed to animated, and that too is somewhat flawed, but it is never annoyingly bad. The lipsync seems way off though, and it seems to me that this game is dubbed from another language.
The game itself has, as mentioned earlier, quite a lot of HOG scenes, a good amount of puzzles and standard adventure elements of "pick-ups and use". There is quite a bit of moving back and forth through the map, but for those who hate that there is a hint function to take you directly to where you need to go without the penalty of using the hint. The hint function only needs recharging after getting specific instructions within the scene where you are at. Most of the HOGs and puzzles are from easy to intermediate in difficulty, even playing in advanced mode.
A BIG positive is that the game actually comes to a conclusion in the end, and don't leave you hanging.
For the ones who need a little extra guidance, there is a casual mode as well which will create sparkles and recharge the hint function faster.
For the guys:
As we can see these days most casual games are targeted towards the better gender, which is only fair seeing that we guys have been targeted in most everything else. I have no problem with that at all, but some do, and some like to stay clear of the most "girly" games. This game should be no problem for any guy. There is no gender bias except for playing a female character. There is no danger of fairies, unicorns, poems or knights in shiny armors ;o).
I found the game highly enjoyable and would recommend it to anyone who likes HOGs and puzzles with a good story to boot. It might be considered a little short, especially among the more advanced players, but I'd say it is worth the regular price.
I think (and hope) we will see follow ups to this, and maybe we'll see a bit deeper storytelling then.

Another Dark and Dreary Game
Same old, same old--a dark, dreary town in which everyone is missing, grey and shadowed graphics that render half of the game impossible to see--yet another game that provokes eyestrain on a sunny day in a lit-up living room!--and junkpile HOGs.
It's a shame, too, because the storyline is fantastic--time travel, a government cover-up and science gone horribly wrong. The problem is that the graphics are so dark that I literally cannot see many of the hidden objects or many of the puzzles. The jigsaw puzzles are grey, and you put them together against a brownish-black background. The cards are grey. It's frustrating. There's no joy in struggling to see a puzzle.
Is there some reason that game designers find using a full color palette impossible? I really would like to see the game that I'm playing!
The rest of the game is so-so. The voiceovers are pretty good, but they don't match the subtitles very well (generally the subtitles are three speeches ahead of the voiceovers). And the hint/skip meter is a bit slow to fill. Also, this is yet another game where you must be mechanically minded in order to solve key puzzles. *yawn*
I would advise against buying this game; there are five billion other games on the market with similar content, better sound and better graphics. You don't need this.

Kind of an x files theme
Well sort of, you're investigating a ghost town and its kind of a mystery how it got that way. I've played about 15 minutes, but I'm giving 5 stars, and I'm buying the game. I wish we got more games with these kinds of themes.
