What a magnificent game! I'll make this short and sweet as others have probably said what I want to say about this game. I don't usually chime in with a revew, unless I think the game is really, really good. This game and the Eternal Journey: Atlantis... game are the best two games I've played, probably in the past year. The graphics were just spectacular, I thought. Usually I play games in 1024 x 768 mode, so as not to make the objects too small. But, once in a while, I would try this at 1080p, and man, the graphics and vibrant colors would just blow you away! Of course, the graphics in general are getting better with each new generation of games. But what else can I say? It's a fun game to play, challenging, and I love the interactive map which takes you straight to a location when you click on it, and also shows you were things need to be done. I wish most games were similar to this one. Just a fantastic piece of artwork, story, and programming. I don't know about the CE vs SE on this one, as I haven't played the bonus game yet, as far as value is concerned. But, I think I bought this CE on one of BFG's half price week-ends, and it was worth every cent and more! Plus, the game seemed fairly long for me. So grab this one, if you're looking for a beautiful, fun, challenging game to play. If you're anything like me, you won't be disappointed! August 26, 2012
Another winner This is another great game from Elephant with excellent graphics, nice storyline and some good puzzles. And, a bonus for me, the music fitted right in and I didn't have to turn it down/off! There have been plenty of other reviews, so I'll just say a few things. (Note, I played in the advanced mode, I really like it when games give you a choice). * Crisp graphics and very good animated sequences which really help to give the game character and help the story along * A very good story idea well carried through with the statues helping or hindering in some quite creative ways. I liked the idea of carrying a useful mining dwarf around with me. * The map gives you a hint of where to go if you're stuck, is beautifully drawn and enables you to jump from place to place. * The achievements! I liked the way these were presented and enjoyed collecting them and the figures. As with Surface, they had a bit of a sense of humour to them too. * Good gameplay -- you don't go back to any of the HO scenes, and these, though somewhat piles of junk are actually appropriate to their setting, so you get things that might be found in a chest, in a cupboard etc. * Although of course there are lots of locked doors you don't get the feeling as in some games that the developers have put the puzzles in somewhat randomly, but they have thought about why doors/gates etc should be shut and it makes sense. * Two endings! I would play it again anyway, but now I'll have to so I can find out what happens on the other choice. My only slight negative would be that the bonus play wasn't all that long, though I enjoyed it. OMG, best game ever! I was not very convinced with this game when I tried this on demo, the graphic is awesome but the mouse is draggish. I took a risk by buying the game during the CE sale a few weeks back, and boy, I was so happy that I did. This game is super amazing! I think this is one of the best games I have ever played, alongside MCF: 13 Skulls and Phantom of the Opera which are my top faves. This one, is so great in storyline, graphics, and I especially love the rooster! I didn't know there will be two different ending and I feel bad that I can't find out what happen if I choose the other one. I love it that the map is interactive, there are lots of places to explore and each is so wonderfully drawn. There's only one drawback, however: the CE bonus gameplay is very very short in my opinion. It should have been longer. Just that one point and this game will be flawless. Needless to say, this game is a must-buy, definitely. July 12, 2012
Something for everyone! What a delightful game! The collectors edition is a must, but is very well worth it. The statues are reminiscent of the statues in the move "Jason and the Argonauts" from a different time period. There's a little fairytale touch with the gnome narrator and other gnome characters. The graphics were fabulous, and this is the type of game that notches everything up a level. The story was a bit corny, but not so much to detract from the fun. The HOG were challenging and made sense to the story. I loved the wintery scene for this scorching hot summer. The only part that didn't seem to fit almost doesn't seem worth mentioning......but it's the only thing that kept it from being one of the top favorites and that was the music. It seemed a little inconsistent and during some scenes it was almost like a child's music box....but it was not annoying in the least. I played this all the way through and even the bonus game, My favorite character was the Archer. You'll have to wait and find out why! Superb game......makes it hard to find more on this level. Finally ! Wow, almost everything about this game is above and beyond expectations. It is visually beautiful all the time. It's wonderful to play a HOG that is bright and fun, rather than hideously dark and morbid. The story came to a rather abrupt end, but other than that this is the most satisfying game I have ever bought from Big Fish, and I have over 100 ! Please give us more of these bright, colourful games. Top Marks ! June 19, 2012
Captivating Lately, I was wondering if I had become jaded and if any game would ever really capture my attention and impress me again. This one did just that! I loved having the little helpers and figuring out where to use them. The animations are plenty, short and well done. The story is interesting without being heavy and distracting. Not too many HOS and no repeats. I found it captivating, relaxing and visually stunning. Well worth the money. There was 1 sour note however, I did not find the Bonus chapter very well done at all. It felt like it was rushed, not very well thought out and really just thrown in to make it a CE. June 14, 2012
Wonderful Game! This game is visually breathtaking, intelectually challenging (but not too much), and storywise is really fun. If you like fantasy, but not too dark, good vs. evil, but not scary, and fun characters, then this game is for you! The HO scenes are the usual junk piles, yet fitting to the scene. The puzzles are challenging, but not too hard; familiar but not boring. Added fun is the hunt for miniatures to collect, and there are achievements that pop up when you least expect them. I like the display area, too. Narration comes as you reach the part of them game where it fits - like reading a book. I love it! June 14, 2012
The Perfect Game If I could give this game six stars, I would. The graphics are amazing, better than any game I've ever played. The true test: I actually watched the cut scenes. Didn't even think about pressing the skip button. The puzzles are varied and so is their difficulty level. I played the expert level but, even though some mini-games took longer to solve than the others, I enjoyed playing them so much I never even thought to skip them entirely. Huge bonuses: An interactive in-game map (can I get a halleluiah?!?), actual achievements for completing certain milestones in the game, and collectable items carefully placed throughout the game which keeps you on your toes. Not to mention bonus levels for those who complete the game and all the other bells and whistles a Collector's Edition should have. I can't recommend this game highly enough! June 16, 2012
Royal Detective Looks like another winner from the BF studios. Cant find anything negative so far will more than likely buy it. June 14, 2012
Nice long game - great graphics The live statues are great. It's interesting how they are used as items in your inventory. Very inventive all around. June 14, 2012
