awful game This game lost me on the first hidden object scene. That's my review and i'm sticking to it. May 21, 2012
Money well spent I took my time with this game-so I enjoyed a long play time. It was worth it in every respect. Great game- glad I got the CE because the bonus chapter was excellent ! I even enjoyed the music !Thanks devs and BF April 28, 2013
Nice game but too short As usual, since my review follows so many others who have given the details, I shall just give my brief thoughts All in all my response to this game is a positive one. atmospheric graphics and sound, HOGs and puzzles both have a good level of challenge, and there are plenty of puzzles. Storyline not bad, although I did have to stop and think half way through, "What am I doing here?". I always like to have a list of achievements to collect and collectibles, however the lost souls that can be found in each scene get a little tiresome even for me. I found myself straining my eyes in a lot of screens, then just referring to the SG, which in my eyes defeats the fun. Unfortunately I managed to get all the achievements, unfortunate because one is to finish the main game in 3 hours, really way too short for my liking, and this is playing on the second level of difficulty without any skipping. The bonus chapter is very much just more of the same, without adding anything to the story. So you do get extra play, and the game would have been way too short without it. You do also get the extra puzzle games and one iHOG from the menu and the wallpapers and so on, but I am glad I got this game in a special offer. So all in all an enjoyable game, but if you like more than a few hours, take heed. The short length lost a star. November 4, 2012
Like it, Like it I think this game is pretty good, yes the HOG scenes are challenging, with smallish and devilishly clever hidden items, but I love that. Who wants everything easy to find? It takes the point out of the H.O.G. I really, really liked that about this game. I thought the storyline was pretty sweet, I love helping people in need, and ghosties even more :) Some new and interesting puzzles, loved that, enjoy trying to test my brain with new ones, but they weren't so hard to drive you to distraction, and cause you to tear your hair out. Although, to be honest, I do like difficult puzzles that really test you lol. I'm really torn on this one. I enjoyed everything about it, atmosphere, storyline, challenging HOGs, but the thing that holds me back is the length that I've heard other fishies review about. Dang! I'm going to buy it....I think it was a great package of everything I like :) October 13, 2012
The description is better than the game... From the description of this game, I was expecting something better than what I ultimately got. It got relatively good reviews too, so I figured it might be worth it. Unfortunately, this one is not worth the CE. As an SE, I could say it might be worthwhile, but even then only for some. This game just has too many flaws to be as good as the description implies. First, the good stuff. The storyline is somewhat interesting, and the way the ghosts manifest is done well, without all the extra flash, gore, and "let's see if we can be majorly gross" like some games with creepy-like storylines these days. They could be a bit more animated at times (the main "bad guy" ghost ends up seeming kind of stiff given how he's supposed to be evil and the things he's doing to stop you), but I like the fact that they're pretty well done. Unlike some games, you won't be constantly needing to find yet another tool to do something that a tool you just discarded could have done just as well. And it adds in an extra element of finding the "hidden souls" if you want something extra to hunt down as you're playing. The bonus gameplay is also a nice extra, but not something necessary to the main game, which I always see as a good thing. (A bonus game really should be a true bonus, not a necessary part of the main story.) That being said, the hidden object scenes are a bit of a pain. Most of the game is very dark, and unfortunately many of the hidden object scenes make some of the objects near impossible to find. Whether it's because they've stuck the item in a dark corner, or because they've hidden it behind something else (a thick layer of dust, a really thick cobweb, wrapped in a net), some of them are just almost invisible. (The graphics aren't necessarily very crisp in some of these hidden object scenes either.) There were a couple that I still couldn't see even after I finally gave up and clicked on the hint, so I was ultimately just blindly clicking in the spot the hint was circling. I'm all for cleverly hidden items, but if I still can't see it even after clicking on the hint, it's too obscured. The awards are really rather cheesy, and most of them you earn just because you did a task you would have had to do to complete the game anyway. A few of them you're unlikely to earn unless you looked up a list of them before/while you were playing. (I looked it up afterwards because I was curious what I'd missed.) So they ultimately end up seeming rather pointless. The puzzles are generally rather easy, so there's almost no challenge to those. For people who don't care much for puzzles in a hidden object game that might be a plus, but I don't mind a bit of challenge to the extra puzzles. Ultimately, I don't feel this game is worth it as a CE. As an SE it might be, but I don't feel like I got a CE's worth out of it. Beyond the issues I already mentioned, it's also just too short. I was done with the game in three hours according to the time on the main menu, and I know there was at least one point where I accidentally left it running because I was needed elsewhere in the house for a bit. So if you're still curious about it, I'd say to try the SE and not the CE. It'd be much more worth it as a SE. October 1, 2012
Haunting Mystery Gets Lost In Gameplay This is a solid four star game with five star graphics. It loads rather slowly throughout, but I loved the scenery, the ghostly manifestations and the special effects within the scenes. What I didn't like was the confusing and overly difficult gameplay in the hidden object scenes. They start off being fun but there are always a few impossible to find items. Please, even with a hint, some of the items blended into the background or were partially obscured to the point of frustration. Luckily the hint bar refills quickly. The other problem I had was some of the tool to task relationships didn't make a whole lot of sense. It was frustrating to have what seemed to be a perfectly suitable object and have it bounce back into inventory. Even more irritating was finding that I was using the right tool but hadn't applied it in the exact area to activate a response. I thought the look of the game was terrific and I liked both the music and the voice overs. The puzzles for the most part are good solid fun and a few were really innovative. There are lost souls to find, hidden in the background, and other achievements to collect. The bonus chapter tacks on a few new scenes and additional characters but is really just an abbreviated rerun of the original plot. The Collector's edition provided a guide to solve most problems for me but I usually sail through games without having to rely on one. Happy haunting! August 11, 2012
This an excellent game. Great clarity, great fun puzzles, new kinds, for a change, lots of walking around, really well made. I enjoyed it a lot. July 28, 2012
Fairly Good Game I enjoyed this game. Good graphics, a good story line. Was not to tough for me to play. Got stuck only a little. July 11, 2012
