Silent Nights: The Pianist Collector's Edition
Not one of the better ones
I think that I am a pretty good gamer of Big Fish and I have played a lot of games, this one not that good.
I really don't like to give poor reviews but once in a while you have to get down and do it.
This game was not to fun, not diffacult at all and the story is boring, even when I got to the Extra play I hoped it would speed up and give some really last minute greatness. But it never came.
I bought this only because of the special on Sunday and I needed one more game to go along for the special and now I wish I had of just let that one go by.
So my oponion is that this is OK for beginners but anyone with a bit of experience I don't recommend this , SORRY and I am talking about the Collectors version which is not that much more or less than the reg game.

After having snapped out of my semi-coma state brought on by playing the trial demo for Silent Night, I have poured myself a very strong cup of black coffee in order to wake up and write this review. Silent Night is basically a rehashing of the usual HOG adventure games that we have now become accustomed to. However, in my opinion, Silent Night does not measure up to standards of the better CE games that we have seen this past month and at best I recommend that you wait for the SE version and save your self the trouble of playing this very slow and tedious game. Believe me when I tell you that I am trying my best to look at the pros of this game and after having read many of the reviews in the forum, I am going to go against the grain and say that for me, Silent Night missed the mark of being a good CE game. In all fairness, the developers (DarkBlue) have added on features that will please many gamers; game options include widescreen, Brighter screen and full screen along with two gameplay modes. There is an integrated SG, voice-overs in some of the dialogues and that is about it. The story is too familiar and simply a case of finding missing person kidnapped by evil-doers set during post war France. YAWN! The only interesting element of the storyline was that the theme was music. You would expect that the soundtrack would have been a highlight of the game but instead was a cachophonic drone that numbed the senses and sent me into a lathargic state while playing the game. On a positive note, I do applaud the graphics, annimations and sound effects, all above standard. Game mechanics includes an integrated SG, the usual puzzles and min-games that I found to be too easy and not to mention that the inventory list is placed on top of the screen which personally I find annoying. I tend to be a creature of habit and an avid defender of what CE games should include and this game doe not offer any of the features that make me want to spend the extra dollars: No map, no journal, no challenge, no collectables and no achievemnts or rewards and therefore no re-play value and unfortunately no buy for me. FINALLY, the one thing that put me off of this game entirely was the lag between the scenes. I hate it when you have to wait for a scene to load, it disrupts your gameing experience and causes you to get very bored very quickly. I wish I could recommend this game because obviously alot of work was put into it. However it is just a bad case of deja vue for me and I will undoubtedly wait for the SE version. Obviously try the demo and I expect that many beginners of this genre might enjoy it. Neverthe less, I cannot full heartedly recommend this game at this price.

I'm Sorry Big Fish But You've Done Way Better Than This One
This review is based on the demo which I played for about an hour playing in challenge mode
*2 play modes: Casual/Challenge (challenge does have sparkles just for the HO scenes.)
*No map or journal
*Objects to find are listed up at the top of the screen along with the inventory items.
*HO scenes are interactive and at the end of each one there is extra item you have to find. The objects to find are also true to the time period.
*Integrated Strategy Guide which shows the first 3 chapters and I was just starting chapter 3 when demo was up. The guide also stays open where you left it.
*Bonus content is locked but indicates extra play along with the usual other extras like wallpaper, soundtrack, concept art, etc.
*Voice Overs along with text on screen to read.
*Skip/Hint take about a couple of minutes. Hint can also be used outside of the HO scenes.
My overall impression of the game:
Well I always try my best to play the whole game before giving a review but this one I had all I could do to make it through the sample version demo of the game cause I sure kept hoping it would get better but unfortunately a big NOT.
The story is yet another kidnapping and this time a sister pianist by a "hooded" man. The setting is France 1946. The story I'm sorry to say but just didn't have my attention and draw me into the game.
The voice overs what little there were what I played of this game by Uncle Albert and the hooded man were OK but the two sisters I found annoying. I found most of the dialogue to be text but thank goodness not very long.
The graphics I'm sorry but in my opinion leave much to be desired as I've seen way better in other games as i found these depressing, no color, drab and dull. The HOS dark and foggy and some of the items very small. To my surprise though I located most of them. The hint is a bright orange flashing color - annoying.
There is some traveling back/forth several locations and inventory items pretty much used right away as I never got "lost" in the game but did use the hint once just to see if it was helpful or not and it will either tell you nothing to do or direct you with " bright orange" color flashing where to go.
I also thought there were a few unnecessary scenes to try to make the game more scary/spooky I guess but I found them annoying.
I believe I only came across three puzzles what I played of this and very easy.
Definitely give this a try and decide for yourself however as there seems to be mixed reviews on this game but sorry just not for me.
I'm sorry developers and Big Fish you've done way better than this one and overall 2 stars is the best I can give for this one cause it's definitely not the worst game I've ever downloaded but far from the best. I wouldn't purchase this as a SE, Catch Of The Week or Daily Deal.

blase at best
I initially started off enjoying this game. Then, I could feel my eyes start to glaze over. The scenes started to blend together and the level of challenge left something to feel desired... I actually started to nod off. Very boring.

Most Definitely Not for Me
This review is based on playing the trial version in the casual mode.
The artwork is done in subdued tones, but not muddy or unclear.
The soundtrack is very repetitive, so I had to turn it off.
The story is the same old ?got to find a family member?. I can forgive this if the rest of the game is entertaining, but this one is not.
But the big deal breaker here for me is the heavy religious imagery. I can tolerate some of this, but there was just too much of it for me. So this is a no buy for me, regardless of price.
Keep your dorsal fin up

I did not find this game all that interesting its no different really to any of the other HO games... I found you had to go back and forth to too many places all the time .... Dont think I will be wasting my dollars on this one

Too Short, Not Challenging, But Fun
This was very very very short. And because it's a CE, i thought it would be longer. I dont recommend this game, sadly.

I'll Give It A Pass
HOS were a pain, too dark - brightening it didn't help much - and way too cluttered, with tiny objects even on my 26" monitor. Cut scenes were cartoonish - graphics not great.

Wow, here is my first all out no holds barred negative review. The graphics were awful and the story line was so slow. Didnt finish game.
