We Have A W?nner Here! I haven't given perfect marks for a game in a while, this game ranks number one on my list for 2012. Kudos to the developers for designing a game with unique game features and game mechanics and Kudos to BFG for bringing us this real gem. Where do I start? This game has everything and more for fans of HOPA, Match Three, HOGs and Adventure. The graphics are outstanding as is the art work. I really loved some of the drawings. Sound and acoustics are far superior to many recent games we have seen and voice overs were in sync which is rare. I especially liked the music and special sound effects.. The story begins with twin sisters who were raised in an orphanage. One has been kidnapped and the other must find her. During her search, she embarks on an adventure that will lead her into the dark world of the occult. She will discover her family's true origin. Game features include three modes of game play, a journal that has a task list, achievements, awards, Strategy guide and a store where you can buy bonus game features. Once you embark on your journey, you will come across HO scenes that are interactive and depending how fast you are able to play them, you recieve coins. You also have a choice of playing Match 3 games instead. Throughtout the game there are collectable that will increase your coins and puzzles as well. You must complete each HO or minigame in order to move on. Don't dispare, you can always revert back to your diary and replay them as well. The more coins you collect, the more you can buy from the bonus store. HO scenes are crowded and interactive and I really did love playing the Match games as well. I could go on and on about all the things I loved about the game but I really want to go back and purchase it immediately so I can continue playing. Once again I predict that this will be the number one game of the year unless an MCF game comes out this year. June 21, 2012
Promising Start After playing the demo, I purchased straight away. The visual quality is very good and the music is a perfect level. Not too loud or whiny and annoying like in some HO games. The storyline is engaging and shows a lot of promise, although it is very samey. For example, twin sister goes missing and you have to find/save them from forces unknown. I can name at least 3 other games (grim tales, haunted manor, gravely silent) with the same storyline but still, it seems interesting enough with the added excitement of vampires. Evil vampires, but vampires none the less. The level of skill is just right as you are challenged but not bought to your wits end. The hidden object scenes are not too dark that you can't see the objects but still keep the atmosphere of the game. I especially enjoyed the 'coins' aspect of the game. So if you do well and find the objects quickly you get more coins which can be spent on unlocking extra content (sketches) in the game. You can also go straight back into the HO from the diary and replay. The puzzles are relatively easy but then again I have only played 3/4 of them. There is voice acting in the game, which is a big plus for me. However, there is sometimes a variation in the audio and the visual subtitles beneath it. Not terrible but still noticable. So overall this game is interesting and engaging and as it has just finished downloading I'm going back to it. Hope you like it too. June 21, 2012
So Colourful and Vibrant, It?s Almost Gaudy GAME COMPLETED TWICE Story: Ariel and Belle were dropped off at an orphanage long ago and cannot remember their parents. Now, Belle has been kidnapped and Ariel goes off in pursuit of her twin sister. Ariel's search leads her to a backwater European town that time forgot and where magic fills the air. You must uncover the secret that has led to Belle's abduction. Developer: Space Monkeys International Release Date: Jun 2012 Extras: Achievements, Collectibles, Unlockable Bonus HO scenes and Mini-Games (see below for CE exclusive content) The colours, the flowers, the creatures ? they are all masterful creations in this charmingly strange game. The story, though, is what makes it so odd. Most of the time there is no way to connect the gameplay with our goal, and the end didn?t clear things up either. Second time around, I just ignored it and went with the flow. THEN, the game became a lot of fun. There are tiny purple flowers to collect in each scene ( for which you get coins), and beautiful fantasy creatures, also some real oddball characters. The HOs are pretty and interesting, but not hard. And you have the alternative of playing Match 3. The puzzles were a snap. Both puzzles and HOs award you with coins depending on how quickly you completed them. (See below) Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed myself, and if the story had been handled better, this game would have rated 5 stars. Bonus Content Review **** Okay, now the bonus content seems to have confused many, so I?ll try to get it right. Collectibles, completed HOs and puzzles can earn you coins which can be spent in the Store. The ?Achievements? button in the Main Menu shows you your coins awarded for HOs or puzzle you played. You then have the option to redo that spot and aim for a better result. I think this has wonderful option. The Bonus button on the Main Menu gives you the Bonus adventure, which is not necessary to the Main Game, but follows on from it. Personally, I thought it a bit weak. The Store is where you can get those items that are unique to the CE - concept art, backstory sketches, music, and videos. Your reward for being so clever is a little art appreciation experience. Would I buy the CE again? No, I think I?d have been just as happy with the SE. February 22, 2013
Sister's Secrecy CD Just played the demo for now. The story is about a girl trying to find her identical sister. Great graphics and voice overs. The HOs are easy, but, with a twist - if you want you can do a match 3 instead of the HOs. What I didn't enjoy at all was the added bell type sound when you found an item, finally had to turn the environment sound off and the music down. You collect coins along the way to purchase items from the magician. June 21, 2012
Not impressed by Demo I am on the fence about this game and my rating would really be 3 & 1/2 star rather than 4. The artwork is visually breathtaking which is a must for me in a CE. The story is not terribly innovative but he characters are fun, the voice overs are well done. However, the HOS are tedious shadowy clutter and irritated me to no end and adding to my frustration is the fact you have to do them more then once! I think the HOS get in the way of the adventure more than help further it in this case This demo was very sluggish for me and I don't usually have that problem. Not sure I will pay for this CE yet. It has as many things going for it than it does against it. I may wait for SE June 21, 2012
What a Gem! Great quality game with long gameplay, not too much running around, excellent voiceover and lovely music. I particularly like the choice of either playing a hidden object scene or match 3. I wish more games were made like this. In my opinion, it is worth the CE price; the bonus chapters were also engaging. I'm looking forward to more great games like this one from the Developers that (I believe) brought us Love & Death: Bitten - because the music towards the end of the bonus chapter is the same. Big thumbs up, developers! June 24, 2012
Ran out of time before the demo ended.... Can I say this is a first for me! I loved this game! The graphics are beautiful and the story line is intriguing! Wish I could purchase this today, but it will be first on my list! June 21, 2012
Something Different Only played free time but it is one I will be purchasing. Many different aspects to this game but hope soon it will be light out again, very dark. Great characters and excellent voice over. HO's are my favourite so don't think I will play match 3's instead as I need various objects to move to next scene. Quite creative and I know I will enjoy it when the time limit is off and I can relax. Promises great fun and some challenges that are not easy. June 21, 2012
Just My Kind of Game Well so far so good. Just finished up the demo and decided to purchase. It seems to have a solid story line with great graphics and vo's. Can't wait to dive in further and watch the mystery unfold. June 21, 2012
Loved it! I wish we had more like this on the menu. I really enjoyed it. Like a good book, I couldn't put it down. June 22, 2012
