Pride & Prejudice: Hidden Anthologies 1.6 5 104 104
I liked this game I love the story of Pride & Prejudice, so I really enjoyed immersing in the game despite the mediocre art. Liked the music-just turned it down some. Wish I had known that backgammon box 1/2 meant that I had to put 2 things into the box, not find another box! I didn't think it was as bad as the other reviewers thought. July 11, 2012
It has some merit of fun in it. I'm glad I read the previous reviews as it helped me to know what to do while playing. Since I knew the basis of gameplay based on those reviews, I actually enjoyed the game. Now for the game to truly have been fun, some sort of explanation or tutorial would have been quite helpful. Without the other reviews explaining how to play, the game would have been quite frustrating while I clicked this and that trying to understand what to do. If the game would have had some kind of "clue" indication, such as a sparkly arrow when your cursor is over something of importance, that would help too, but as an avid Hidden Object game player, I was able to figure most things out on my own. Also the game would be better if you realized you could go from room to room to find other clues by clicking on the doors in the room or by clicking on the little (almost not noticed) gold emblem near the bottom of the screen. I eventually realized this fact, but having a tutorial explain it beforehand would have saved me a little frustration. I found the character dialog to be helpful EXCEPT for when it was verbatim from the book. For someone unfamiliar with Pride and Prejudice, this quite long series of speech may be interesting, but since the dialog is not acted out, and the characters are actually animated in a homely, almost unappealing manner, it becomes a bit boring. Fortunately you are able to skip through it rather quickly if you desire. To sum up, I found it delightfully challenging having to figure out what to do based on the small amount of details given. The music was a bit too much repetitious for enjoyment, but you can always turn it down if you desire. Without a tutorial to explain the gameplay, you may become frustrated. I'm shocked the makers of the game didn't realize how important that little addition is for game players. I might actually purchase this game. Not sure yet. :) June 28, 2012
Not quite as bad as other reviews.. After reading the reviews I was waiting to be horrified but was not. If you read the instructions that pop up on the screen you won't get too lost. It explains the wax seals and the loose pages you will find in all scenes. As for the cursor, the middle turns bright green when there is something to click on. I found moving around was intuitive and when it wasn't I just clicked on doors or arrows or anything near the bottom of the screen that looked interesting. Just too much dialogue for me but lots to do if you like lots of tasks. Proably not for an inexperienced gamer or an inpatient person like me! June 27, 2012
Different sort of game Yes, this game is different from what we are used to, but what's wrong with that? The game of course is based on the book. The is too much dialogue as the characters chat back and forth. You collect hints and if you are paying attention to the cursor, don't have to do too much clicking around. The chatting is not necessary to the game and is really too much. If you know the book then the dialogue should not be needed. If you don't know the book there are better ways of letting you know the important information. I didn't hate it, but it was tedious. June 27, 2012
Don't waste your money I managed to play 15 min of the free trial then I could not stand it any more I had to quit. There is no way to adjust volume it is either blasting or off. The way the people move in and out reminds me of the old paper puppet theaters which had cutouts attached to sticks. June 26, 2012
Demo failed to convince me Demo failed to convince me to buy it. I lasted about 15 minutes then ditched it. Too much dialogue and unhelpful hints. June 26, 2012
Poor Quality Seems to me that the developers of this game spent so much time making sure it was compatible with Apple's newest OS, that they forgot all about the mechanics of the game itself. This game seems unfinished to me. In fact, it has the feel of a student's project, for which I give a C for visuals, and an F for everything else. June 25, 2012
Hidden Boredom Game I could kick myself for purchasing this game without first trying it out. It's stilted and very strangely done. I exited the game after 5 minutes which is very unlike me as I'll plough through a game trying to find the merits in it. I tried but failed this time. June 25, 2012
Dreadful game Don't even waste space on your hard drive with this one. The HOS's are boring, the game has no challenge to it at all and there is far too much dialogue. June 25, 2012
No Pride and Plenty of Predjudice This must be one of the worst games ever. A classic novel like this should be treated with far more respect than this. If you have to use a classic novel at least make a great game out of it. June 25, 2012
