Boring and Slow. Only for HOS addicts ! I think it's just HOS, could not stand to play more than 15 minutes and had no mini game. Only one level of difficulty, not challenging. Dark scenes with some very small objects. Sound is ok and the story is not bad, but it takes time to load ... discourages. To make things worse, Caroline gets popping up, explaining most of the objects when they are found. I gave up! April 10, 2012
I would rathather have a root canal? ? than play this scored and timed Hidden Object Puzzle Game with miniscule items to find and very easy mini games. It does not seem there is any Adventure. Do 3 H0 searches, play a mini game; do 3 H0 searches, play a mini game, etc. There is, thankfully, a hint button, but it takes a while for it to restore. Lose 25 points every time you evoke a hint. Mis-clicks are penalized unless you are lucky enough to click on a "you have found a bonus object" object. Run out of time and you don't get to play the mini game. Ask me if I care. You play as Caroline from Nice, France. Her father, who was working in Paris has disappeared. Caroline has not heard from him in 2 weeks. She is worried. She searches his study and finds notes that he has gone to a castle in Transylvania. Of course she leaves immediately -- well after we search her room for things to pack, and the garden, and father's study. The story actually has some potential: Caroline "? uncovers an ancient ruin and the prison of a centuries old vampire. Accidentally freeing the vampire sweeps Caroline into the middle of a vampire clan war that has raged for a millennia." Too bad it is stuck in such a dreadful game. The game is narrated at the start of each chapter by an English speaking gentleman. Caroline has a French accent and a lot to say during cut scenes. Otherwise you will read the dialogue -- a blessing. Some of the artwork is rather nice. It is not wide screen. This game is like the ones for those of you who want straight HO games. In all good conscience I cannot subject you to this particular game, however. April 10, 2012
I should have taken other reviewers advice.DON'T BOTHER! Wow was this game junk! First let's start with the whole install of this game. just when it gets done, you get a pop-up about installing direct x. if you aren't careful you will be installing bing bar to your browser. this has nothing to do with the game play. you'll just wonder where this add on to your browser came from.HATE THAT! this game is TIMED! Timed games i NEVER BUY! BFG should really stop doing these games. As far as myself I do NOT play to be rushed.Others do so whatever. MOST of the items to find in the hidden object scenes are WAY too SMALL! Also there is a list of about 25-30 items to find per HO scene.Really? That's a joke! That is why i marked the level of challenge as excellent. EVERYTHING else stinks! Can you feel my anger at how poor this game is? I hope the developers have other jobs because they stink at making games. July 4, 2012
Fairly challenging and enjoyable game The best thing about this game is the story. Caroline's adventures while trying to find her missing father are very well thought out. Also, the minigames add that bit of fun needed in these kind of games while also contributing to the main storyline. Although the game has only one difficulty setting, it is made so that you don't have to be an enthusiast to be able to go through the whole story but also offers that necessary brain tease so that the boredom factor doesn't kick in. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that likes a well written scenario for an HO game. Thumbs up on my account! May 17, 2012
Captivating and charming game I played the game and from the start has a little charisma in it. Its very nice compare to other games from the same category. Graphics are very good and the levels are challenging, The animations give a nice felling to each level. The different locations and various puzzles in minigames make a captivating hidden object game. There is No wide screen option and some of the objects are very difficult to see/find. May 16, 2012
Phenomenal sound and story... Die hard HOG players and 'wow' seeking gamers may have rated this low, yet if you enjoy a superb STORY along with your graphics (ie wine with your steak versus soda with junk food) PLUS enjoy truly great sound in your games... voice and music, as well as intricately detailed scenes (including the H0G scenes), check this out. I am thoroughly enjoying this great little tale... more 'scary' than the games with bells and whistles (to me) because you have to use your imagination and, in addition, it takes place in realistic, historically correct locations with accurate info. I suggest wearing headphones to truly appreciate the subtle quality in this game as far as the sound factor; it is TRULY IMPRESSIVE! Dialiect and accents are top notch; atmospheric sound... the best. Crickets chirping in the background, etc... nice!!! The dimly lit areas are appropriate to the setting and time of day of each scene. A quality, enjoyable little thrill.... check it out and remember to expect simply done quality, not quantity in terms of the whole package. Thumbs UP! :) July 4, 2012
A vampiric universe in a hidden object game Finally, a hidden object game with great voice-over! To think that the producers endowed this mystery adventure with such great voice acting shows their attention to detail. This is also seen in the beautiful settings with unique atmosphere and music. The story is well chosen and will be appreciated by fans of vampire tales and movies all around the world. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys solving the occasional mystery and likes classical hidden object games - and this one has vampire flair. May 16, 2012
YAWN Boring game. It was dark and objects were very small and sometimes difficult to find. Story was lacking. No puzzles to solve it was terribly hard on the eyes. July 4, 2012
Great HO I do not understand all these negitive reviews, maybe they need glasses. This is a good HO game for expert HOers, lots of HO to find and they are not hard, challenging yes but not hard, if you are not in to HOs then you will not like this game. Why do these people "explain the game" in a review? The story line is good. The only thing I will agree with is Caroline popping up too frequently, but otherwise this is a good HO game as well as the mini games. I do not like music playing while I am trying to play the game, so I cannot comment on that. Visual is good,....dark? Yes, it takes place in 1928 and is about Vampires in a castle duh! But it is not so dark you can't see. The voice overs are really good. It is a good game. There should be more HOs like this, without having to go all over the place to pick up objects to bring back to another scene etc. This is a straight forward HO game! It's about time BF. July 5, 2012
A Vampire Tale prt 1 I really liked this game, The story and music were really good and easy to follow. Though I do have some minor gripes, the first of all is kind of an elephant in the room, why is the game in parts? To be precise five parts (according to some info I uncovered) it doesn't make sense to me, I'd understand if it was in two parts, but five? I was lost there. Second, while I don't mind voice acting in games because I feel it adds something extra to the game, the accents just didn't seem to fit, especially the fathers accent and voice it just sounded so obviously fake/forced. Third some of the objects were just too hard to find, either because of the lighting/background or because they were so small that there were impossible to find because of said lighting and background. Finally we were timed and scored, why? Personally I don't like those kinds of games were we have to find things in a said amount of time. But that's just me. Anyway, this game is good and I am looking forward to the other parts in the future, I just hope that they aren't as short as this first part. February 12, 2013
