Grim Facade: Sinister Obsession Collector?s Edition 4.1 5 114 114
A Bit Confusing at Times At first I was very excited to play. Trying to figure out "whodunit" type of game. As the game went on, I sort of forgot about what I was trying to figure out. I mean, who was my suspects and what were their motives? At the end, I was confused and lost as to why? The extra chapter wasn't any help either. So basically, you play HOS and play mini games, but the story IMO didn't grab my attention enough. The hint button was vague and not so helpful except when you were in the HOS. I had to us the SG a few times which I don't really like doing. The graphics were good, music ok and the length was good. It was pretty easy and it would be a good game for beginners. I wish I would've waited for the SE. July 11, 2012
Eh, ERS I keep promising myself I won't buy another ERS game, but even with the usual drab graphics (although they seemed to spill a little less of the blue wash over these,) the smooth game play of this one sucked me in. Smooth yes, but really almost too easy, with games of near ludicrous simplicity--really, they seemed to be solved before I realized I was even playing them. There were the usual "cinematic" interruptions--who told developers interrupting the play was fun--and an ending so abrupt my immediate reaction was "Huh, what?" On later consideration, I think I understand what happened, but geez, guys, after all the in-game interruptions you couldn't spare a couple scenes to explain what the heck it was all about? Am currently forcing my way though the bonus play, but think I can assure you it does little to tie up any loose--and blowing freely in the wind--ends, so unless you have a use for wallpaper and all that other junk, you won't miss much waiting for the standard edition. Based on whole game plus extras As usual ERS give you your money's worth. Very pretty and crisp graphics I thought anyway. Based in Tuscany the artwork was beautiful and very authentic. The extra gameplay was worth buying the CE. Mini games were original most with reset button. The only drawback was the hint button which only told you that there was nothing to do which I find rather annoying. The storyline was also not explained very well in fact I only worked out what it was all about in extra gameplay and even then it wasn't clear why the women were all murdered. However that aside it is still a great game. July 7, 2012
Not worth the price for CE I normally love ERS games, but I have to say this one I did not. I'm not sure why it's getting such high marks. I played the demo, and as it was a bit on the easy side, I thought why not and bought it - only because it was from ERS, and I was thinking maybe it would get better. Now I wish I hadn't spend the extra on the CE. For one I really thought it was to short - maybe that's because it was so easy that I just breezed right through it. I thought the story line was a bit flimsy as well, and sometimes the game just felt disjointed to me. I know ERS can do way better than this and I was very disappointed indeed. If you really want to play this wait for the SE at least because the CE is not worth the money. July 7, 2012
Very captivating This game is so much fun. The HOGs are different and offfer a mix of traditional, interactive or search for 12 hammers i.e. Puzzles are different, a lot of fun and not too hard. Love the scarecrow :). Graphics are beautiful, the story keeps you going and the flow is just great. Truly enjoyed this game. Well it's an ERS game, it should be awesome, and it was. Make sure to look for the coins, you have to buy items to help you as you go on. You really don't need a hint, this game is easy to follow. Sound effects are dead on, I appreciate these little details. I almost gave it 4 stars because of the abrupt ending, but as you play the bonus, it concludes the story beautifully. It made the game. Length of bonus is very good, it is almost a game in itself. Look for coins again, don't forget. I strongly recommend getting the CE version, because you need to know how it really ended. This one kept me very interested, a bit scary sometimes and also funny. Loved it July 7, 2012
Boring! I bought this game as a result of the sale of the highest rated games, so I expected it to be good. The graphics are great as they always are from ERS, but the game itself is so incredibly easy, I have lost all interest. In some cases the items needed to start a puzzle are literally at your feet, boring. The game is so linear that it holds absolutely no challenge, find an item, use an item, blah, blah, blah, encounter roadblock, told exactly what you might need to get past. The mini games are exactly what you'd expect to find, which again, offers no interest or challenge. The HO scenes in which you had shadows as clues were something new, thank you, but that was undone by scenes where you had to find 12 of something, again, boring. If you have any experience at playing these games at all, then you might want to give this one a miss. Come on ERS, you can better than this, seems like you are just churning them out these days, putting less effort in as you go. There was a time when I bought your games automatically without trying them (as I did this time due to the great reviews I read), but no longer. In this case, I don't even know that even I'd buy or recommend the SE. July 11, 2012
A very good CE game with a long bonus chapter. This game has very good graphics and puzzles. It has a ok story line. This game could have been better if there were extra bonus objects to find while playing I only buy CE versions if there is a long bonus chapter because I don't care about artwork or anything else. The bonus chapter was more than a hour long. However if I had not played that chapter, the ending would have been very poor. I think that when the SE version comes out and people play the game and come to the end they may be like, that's it? July 12, 2012
Great HO's This played out a little different. Love the interaction of the HO's. Great graphics, Easy to play, and I liked it. Plenty to do and watch out how you spend your coins. July 5, 2012
BIG Disappointment I purchased the first Grim Facade game and thoroughly enjoyed playing it. This game was a big disappointment. I found the story line confusing and the ending was abrupt and explained nothing. I was still sort of confused by the bonus portion. Not well done. Any one purchasing the SE version will be very disappointed in the ending as you will not have a clue why all those women died. I feel this game was hastily put together and will not be purchasing any more Grim Facade games. The collectors edition was not worth the price. September 24, 2012
Finally a great game Although I told myself that I would not participate in this SO CALLED 50% discount - which by the way is not a 50% discount to club members - I indulged myself and purchased this game. After playing the demo, I just had to play the full version. The intro, graphics, voice overs are great. The HOS are fun and very interactive. You have to make sure that you collect the coins as you go through each scene. With the coins you purchase items from the store and those items will help you with certain tasks. Also, make sure that you collect the fans in the HOS as those are for hints (if needed). The music is ok, I always turn it down or off as after awhile it is nerve racking with the repeditiveness, but with that said, it is much better than some of the other games. July 5, 2012
