I am infected .. This is a great game for the casual thinkers, it's not your basic HOG, and IHOG people - of which there seems to be an increasing number of - will enjoy the interactive HO scenes and the other stuff that we grade "adventure" - gotta love it!. It's a good story, great graphics, VOs good and cut scenes right up there. What's to lose folks? Great game. July 28, 2012
So near yet (I'm afraid) so far... First, the caveat - several people seemed to have enjoyed this game, so I might be in a minority - but for my part it was terribly disappointing. The premise - a Stephen King "The Stand" style plotline - is inspired and genuinely novel. Unfortunately the game-play is so pedestrian that the experience never really manages to get the adrenaline flowing. One finds oneself collecting innumerable coins for slot-machines which do things which - well - slot-machines simply don't do. Likewise, having to assemble family crests to unlock doors is just plain silly in this context. I might accept this device in the realms of Harry Potter or the Hobbit, but "Infected - The Twin Vaccine" is meant to be set in an oh-so-ordinary North American small town. A salt-of-the-earth railway worker has a back-gate sporting a Gothic heraldic shield! Too much about this game feels ludicrous and completely incongruous. More generally, it's all just a bit too boring. Too often the gamer finds him/herself having to squint for yet another inexplicable key among twilit rubble or a hammer or a crowbar. Frustratingly and rather illogically, intelligently chosen tools won't perform perfectly reasonable tasks (a paint-scraper, for example, refuses to peel back a photograph or a hammer and chisel can't be used to remove some flakey plaster). And there's the rub - the whole experience soon feels like a punitively dull series of mechanical processes, rather than an engaging recreational adventure. This is just lazy plotting. The best adventure games in this genre create the impression that the player is constantly being given genuine options. This is, of course, wholly illusory and one is embarked on a linearly driven narrative, but at its best - "Mystery Case Files", "Puppetshow", "Drawn", "Hidden Expedition" - one is hooked throughout and goes with the flow. "Infected - The Twin Vaccine" is so uneventfully wearisome, featureless and flabbily plotted that, notwithstanding its over-short game-itme, one is nonetheless pleased to have got the whole thing over with. I'd give this a wide berth if I were you - dull as ditchwater. August 27, 2012
Disappointed I have a ton of games from Big Fish (mostly Ho) but I have not purchased any lately because I'm really tired of the creepy, ghosts, murder and worse....... genre. Did the trial and purchased the SE (CE's are mostly a waste) for this because it looked a bit different and the reviews were mostly excellent.........big disappointment. Challenge level was minimal (never used walkthough), the "back and forth" was ordinary, and although the story line started out interesting, it really went nowhere. The live people were okay and well done and the interactive HO's scenes were a different but all in all certainly not a great game. August 3, 2012
Dissapointing in the end This game had a great start with believable news footage and sounds that placed you in the thick of the action. As the game progressed though, I found the game play less than challenging and the main antagonist silly. There is a redeeming persona in the homeless man which offers aid for the price of a bag of chips. Found objects are used almost immediatly so there is no packing things around for hours waiting to use it. If you decide to buy this game, don't bother with the CE as the "Extra Chapter" has short run time and doesn't add anything to the story. Took me 10 min. to complete. August 12, 2012
Very Good but SHORT Premise is modern and pausible but the game is too short! Recommend if you don't mind a limited gaming experience. August 7, 2012
Guess it's just not for me. I was actually suprised to see so many positive reviews, because that's not the way I feel at all-- I just found this so boring.. it dragged, the HO scenes were annoying, the hint didn't work right.. I love the idea of this story line... but.. just couldnt get into it ! August 14, 2012
Good but short game. The storyline is interesting: virus spreading, girl to save... I played in advanced mode. - The graphics are a bit grainy, the objects from the HOS are sometimes hard to find. - The HOS are very interactive, which I liked. - There are not that many puzzles; they are quite easy. - There is a journal, more a summary of the story than a help for the tasks. - There is a map that I didn't like because it's quite minimalistic, with dotted lines, squares for the locations, just not the kind of map I would like... Actually you can play without using it... - The hint system is good: it shows you the direction of the next task. - The dialogs are sometimes long, with voice-over. The game is pretty short: it took me 2 hours to finish. In view of the ending, there will be a sequel. All in all, an interesting game but I expected a lot more. August 2, 2012
There's always a "but..." isn't there? I usually don't post reviews but for this one I'm making an exception. First of all, I appreciate that the storyline is fresh. My favorite games are hiidden object games but I sometime get tired of castles, witches and such. Second, the graphics in this sometimes make me wonder how much are photos and how much are computer generated. If it's both, the blending of the two is outstanding. This being said and admitting that I haven't finished the game yet, I come to my "but..." I don't like the icon signaling a switch to another scene. I can understand an arrow or feet walking or something that points or shows movement. This game has a clock with hands going around. #And it just occurred to me that is might be a compass. Still doesn't work for showing movement/direction.# The next thing I don't like are the HOS. I know the big trend is to make them interactive these days, but they're not consistent. Accessing some parts of the HOS will open the inventory, some won't even when you need items from it. I also admit to having a pet peeve about words not being used properly or not matching in the game. If a hint tells you to pick up the red ball, it should be listed as that, not as a red orb, for example. So far, I've found less of this in this game than most. But...in the back apartment that is behind the burning building, is a room with lab equipment. On the floor is a book that when clicked on, explains it's on etymology, the study of insects. Uh, no, etymology is the study of the history of words. *Entomology* is the study of bugs. Picky? Maybe. But it's sloppy. And irritating. And saddening that no one in the development process, the alpha testing, the beta testing, wasn't curious/knowledgeable enough to catch it. April 21, 2013
Like a Real Story On The News This game sounds like it could be something you see on the news. Pull me in right away. Made me feel I was apart of the town and its sobering reality. Graphics gave you the sene like you were there experiencing the panic. Real characters added to the overall reality of this game. Music was brooding, ominous and it was so cool with sounds of the helicopters flying overhead, voices over the PA systems, the absence of town folk left the foreboding feeling you better get out of town fast. Not being a big fan of HO's, I did find the HO scenes to be interesting and of course no penalty for over clicking was great. The game overall was not very challenging but sometimes you don't need that with so much to get immersed in. I am glad I got out of the town when I did. That virus was nasty. Hope there is a sequel and more exciting games like this. Thanks devs and Big Fish. Keep 'em coming. August 10, 2012
WHOA! Love this game!! This game was different! The acting and the voice over were excellent and really well done! And the HOS were interesting - it had relevance to the plot of the game and you were actually looking for items in concealed areas or enclosed containers - very interactive. Story was interesting and had a sense of urgency to rescuing the little girl e.g. helicopter hovering above and feeling like you had to hide out from it. I also enjoyed the animated graphics like the jets flying in - very realistic. I had so much fun with this game - thoroughly enjoyed it!! and would like to see more along these lines. One of the best games I have played - right up there for me! July 31, 2012
