Outstanding!!! Well, I played and bought the CE, but I repeat: it is a game that really worth it! When is an excellent game like this, I like to play the bonus and have the SG! Help solve the mystery of the murder of three women! Excellent cutscenes, very convincing VO, appealing story, perfect graphics, great animation and soundtrack, gorgeous locations, colorful and neat in details. Three modes of play. Two kinds of HOS: find 10 of the same type (hammer, chains, etc, and some you have to assemble before) or objects by the shape (and also are interactive - finding an object, leads to another object). Mini games different from the usual, such as the Scarecrow, entertaining but not very challenging. Hint also different: instead of "fill", you will finding peacock feathers in the game, and each one is a hint. In addition you have to collect coins, with which you will buy tools at the shop, and, of course, the pages of the diary of the killer. A highly well developed game, with many many things to do. Will certainly holds your interest and curiosity! I had a great time! August 3, 2012
Good Start, Lousy Finish When I played the preview of this game I liked it, so when the SE was released, I had a freebie credit and was really excited to get it. I'm was really disappointed, and I wish I'd saved my credit. The beginning was good and held my interest. A murder mystery in a Tuscan-style vineyard. But as the game wore on, all the back and forth and crazy, illogical uses for the collected items became tedious and boring. Just one example: why on earth would a detective use a bloody scalpel that was obviously a murder weapon to cut a lemon in the kitchen when there was a perfectly good block of kitchen knives on the other counter? Then ending of the game was incomprehensible. We never learned anything about the victims, suspects, motives or the actual murders. We were too busy collecting items and figuring out how to use them in the most nonsensical way that had no relevance whatsoever to the story. And the murderer - there was never any indication, any clue at any point in the story as to the identity of the person it turned out to be. I kept waiting for an explanation but there was never any forthcoming. I thought maybe buying the SE I didn't get to have the whole ending, as I know that sometimes CE's have bonus scenes that 'explain' things. But as I read the reviews for the CE, it seems the CE ending was equally baffling. Badly, badly, BADLY written storyline. I can see how beta testers might have liked the game enough to recommend it, because I did like the beginning, but that's where the 'good' ended. Sorry, but I don't recommend this game. Wish I'd passed. August 5, 2012
Grim Facade: Sinister Obsession (NOT CE VERSION) This is my first review (I do not review), but I feel completely fooled, so here is my opinion. Nice game, but what happened to the normal development and climax of a good storyline ? Do I have to buy the CE to get a coherent ending. A really disappointing ending, a cut, with no explanation. I do not recommend this version. August 3, 2012
Okay, Usually ERS is way better. I'm no novice, but this one was ridiculously "out there". I switched to Beginner after about 10 minutes! Hello? Even after going to the pre-k level, I needed a walk through and at one point, being HOPELESSLY stuck, found THIS: "Put the DART in the ball of yarn and then cut it with the SHARP GLASS PIECE to, rather bizarrely, make a DRUM STICK." OH COME ON! Knock it off ERS! Things NEED to make SOME sense. I'm sorry I bought this game, but was so desperate for a decent new HOG, I couldn't resist. I'm regretting my purchase now. Do I recommend this game? Not really. August 3, 2012
Don't waste your money This game was truly as frustrating as any I have ever played. There was very little that was logical - I had to keep referring to the walk through because it did not flow and the parts for necessary items were just ??WHAT?? (spoiler) who would think that the bottom of a chalice was a part of a jack - I mean what did the chalice do before that part was there - stand on its stem???? And the end was very disappointing - it is patently obvious that they wanted you to buy the CE and if you didn't well then too bad the end made no sense at all and was very abrupt - ERS- big time FAIL!!! Abrupt ending Though the game was fun to play it wasn't as challenging. Then the ending was abrupt. No explanation in the story line as to why murderer did what he/she did. August 3, 2012
Fantastic Game Play! Another awesome HOPA from my favorite developers. I actually bought the CE edition and for those who passed, do not hesitate to get the SE. This is one of those games that offer you the great value along with a very entertaining gaming experience. Once again we have a mystery to solve where you are asked to investigate a series of deaths of young woman and find out who the killer is. There is a sinister family involved and a dark secret to uncover. Although I thought the graphics were good, resolution was off at times and cutscenes did tend to get blurry at times, nevertheless, I loved the artwork, sound effects and great voice-overs that brought life to our characters. The music feature is a wonderful surprise and I loved the fact that you have a selection of tunes from a jukebox and can change it throughout the game. This is a HOPA that offers you everything; heavy on the adventure, a variety of HO scenes that differ from the ones we usually play and many unique and fun puzzles/mini-games to solve. Game features and mechanics include a diary and a hint system where you can increase number of hints by finding fans hidden in the HO scenes. There are three modes of game play, and you collect coins that will buy you items and tools that you will need during gameplay. HO scenes are different from the standard HOGs and very interactive. You either find several of one paticular item or use one item on another to complete the scene. Overall, I quite enjoyed the gameplay, there was just enough challenge to get hooked and I also found the story intriguing. It was not the best we have seen from these developers, but it certainly gets 5 stars from me on the mechanics alone. August 3, 2012
Not impressed It just seems to end in the middle of the game. I felt the game as a whole was very short and should have taken longer. I completed it in less then 2 hours. It was hard to follow the story line and felt very confused as to what action I should do next. I have played over a hundred of these types of games and was not impressed. It had nice graphics and the potential for a good story line, but it just fell short. August 22, 2012
Just as good as the first time I really like this game. This is the second time that it has been on BFG and it is as much fun as the first time I played it. I find it relaxing and not to much of a challenge. If you are looking for a fun, basic down to earth hidden object game then this is the one for you. You have to use the objects you find in order to find other objects which makes it a lot more interesting. The mini games are great fun. Altogether this is a must buy game. I highly recommend this game to anyone no matter what skill level they are on. August 3, 2012
Waste of time If you like HOGs you may enjoy this but I found very little fun in this game as actions involving inventory were either blatantly obvious or so obscure you wondered how the developers came up with them. On the plus side there were very few junkpile scenes and objects were very easy to find. On the minus side there were very few real minigames most of which were unbelievably simple although one needed some real thought. The storyline was incomprehensible as far as I was concerned. The ending when it came was totally unexpected and explained nothing, like several other reviewers I thought I'd hit a glitch rather than the end of the game. All in all a real disappointment and glad I only used a free credit on it. August 5, 2012
