Sorry I paid for this game
I thought this game looked as though it would be a fun one, but it turned out to be one that took me from place to place in search of the proverbial "keys" to open up chests, portals, etc., in order to take me to even more places in search of more keys. The puzzles were not interesting, and the storyline turned out too be to dark for my interest. (demons, for Pete's sake...so morbid) There's enough problems in this world, than for me to purchase a game that has even more. I want to have fun...How 'bout it, Big Fish? Let's have some FUN, lighthearted games, please, and leave the demons out! : )

Backtrack City!
After my hour trial, I had a long list of places that needed items, and I had many items in my inventory that I did not know where to place :o There was lots of backtracking, too. This game is a sleeper for me. The lack of sound during most of the hour did not help create the mood of urgency to help the boy. In fact after he is taken, you are running around doing anything, but go to his aid, hmmm. Not a buy for me.

Grim tales: The wishes for a better game.
The game started with a story of a kid being possessed by some evil creature. He tells his mom it's his fault and he will deal with it you are there somehow, a car drives away, the kid is bye bye, evil shadow took him, Great! I didn't like him anyway...seriously, I felt like what the heck! Yet another game where I'm suppose to save a kid and I really don't care, not for him and not for what will happen with the plot next, just give me some HO scenes and puzzles and who cares for the boring storyline! The game started with bunch of finding items but no HO scenes yet. Took some time before the first scene started. The whole feel of this game was off for me right from the start. The little music in the game is annoying and during HO scenes there's a blessed silence.
On the plus side, graphics are OK, but by itself it doesn't really save the game. Flower looking hint is good, tells you what you need to do next, so I guess it makes this game not that difficult.
I wasn't impressed and few minutes into this grim game I uninstalled it.

Save your money
I made a big mistake and bought the CE of this game based on the five stars they got. It had good graphics but thats it. You will have more fun flushing your money down the toilet. The same folks that are giving this high ratings did so also for the CE. Do they work for the company?

Grim Tales: The Wishes
I wish this game was less demanding that you place an item on the exact spot. I mean the exact spot without a fraction of a millimeter off. There is not even a visual as to the exact spot. Take the rope on the window for example. I spent ten minutes on this without success and will now cease playing the game. I wasted time on items before that one but this is the last bit of my time that I will waste on this game. There are other games. I am sorry I bought this one.

Excellent long playing HO game for a SE game.
Wow, if there were more long playing SE games like this, CE games would be up for the money. Lots to do & lots of locations! Even with a jump-map you kinda forget what & where you have to do things & even the second time around. I was amazed. More like this please ELEPHANT GAMES!!!!!!

Kept me busy for a good long time!
Had plenty of everything I am looking for in the genre. Took a while to get through it, plenty of puzzles and scenes, nice story line, great graphics and easy searches. Thanks Elephant and Big Fish!

Quite Possibly the Best GT Game
From a visual standpoint, I believe for me this was the most beautiful and most engrossing of the whole series. I remember standing at the foot of the tree house and that whole scene blew me away. While on the Siberian expedition, I can honestly say I felt "cold" through that whole trip (and it's 95 degrees here right now). I suppose it helped that this game was created and developed by a bunch of Russians! All in all, this game really drew me in to the environment, locations and side expeditions, so that whatever I felt was "lacking" in story line, was more than made up for in that regard.
Pet peeves for me on this one were the VO/note scenes. It's apparent way before the credits roll that Americans didn't write this game (no little kid writes/talks like that). However, it's the fact that I can read much faster than these VO scenes roll, that I prefer to pick up a note, read it, and move on. The only other major point I will mention was the reference to the villain as both a "demon" and a "old lady/witch". I think for most people, there's a discernible difference and while they played it off as both, I would have rather they settled for one or the other and taken it to it's most convincing end. For my own preference, I didn't like the use of the term "demon" bandied about as though the two were interchangeable. However, the scenes involving the "enemy" were very well done and very convincing, although after all was said and done, it did seem that it should have been a little more challenging to finally capture and destroy said enemy.
The puppet was an interesting addition, and his scenes I felt were more necessary and "enlightening" than the other VO scenes which we could have done without. Also unusual was the continued involvement of Fluffy, as it is not something I'm accustomed to in other HO games. I really, really enjoyed using the map (once I discovered it was there!). It made things "a lot" easier which was good because there were so many locations and yet not good because I always feel like it should be an arduous trek to have to go back to these locations.
For as many scenes and locations and side-trips as were in this and the previous 2 GT games, I never got story/location/search/puzzle fatigue. I was actually thrilled that these kept going on and on and on. It made for me a more complete and convincing experience, since it required more effort, more thought, more time, etc.
I don't think that you'd be disappointed with this game!

Fun, entertaining, with great graphics
I loved this game. With adventures within adventures, the depth of the game was fantastic. Loved the graphics and the sound effects/music. The ending seemed a bit abrupt, but I really didn't mind. Nothing annoying, poorly done, or short-changed. Puzzles were on the easier side of still challenging. I plan on playing all the Grim Tales HOGs.

Best I've played so far
I'm new here, and I bought three HOG games to start with. This is the best one so far. It was well done, good plot and story line, interesting all the time, yet never frustratingly difficult. I love the map feature with the ability to quickly move from one location to another using that map. The hints were excellent when I needed to use them. They were hints, not giveaways - meaning they pointed you in the right direction rather than blatantly giving you the answer (which spoils the fun). I also loved the feature on the map that indicated what tasks you had yet to accomplish for each location - very handy for deciding my next move. It was just creepy enough at parts but not scary or spooky. Best of all, it seemed like a nice, long game.
