Absolutely adorable! A Time Mgmt game minus the time limis.
Though I suspect this is targeted toward children, I absolutely adored it. I like Time Management games, but find myself frustrated with the limited time aspect of building on them. What I really like are games like the Sims 3 -- games that give you goals, but usually without a time limit so you're free to explore and have fun meeting that goal in the manner you think best. This is that game. It reminded me of some pleasant cross between the Sims and Zoo Tycoon 2.
The visuals are precious and strikingly original; the music is cute without getting irritating and does evoke a theme park feel. There's not really a storyline, but I didn't really care. In terms of mechanics, the game presents a "zoning" concept that is original I think to this type of game; the idea is that you group different kinds of attractions together to make "star zones" that increase profits. There are a dozen or so types of zones, and some may overlap slightly with the particular attractions they want. Further, attractions may have ratings like "dark" or "noisy"; grouping these too close to their opposites will make the attractions' appeal suffer. Different types of guests like different types of zones, obviously, and you can pay to market to particular types of guest to increase their presence in your park. To increase the attractions' value and make them more enjoyable, you can plant trees and flowers around them as well as group them appropriately. Guests that especially like one or another attraction generate "heart points" that can be used to open new admissions gates or research new attractions and zones.
The one thing I didn't care for especially was the idea of "research;" this whole mechanic seemed superfluous and interrupted the flow of gameplay considerably. But this was a small quibble; the days go by quickly, and it isn't too bad to wait considering none of the challenges I saw had a time limit.
The game presents a series of challenges which the player picks among; some challenges focus more on concessions, some on rides, some on making "zones." Most of these aren't that hard to get; the worst things that got in the way were wasting time researching new attractions and the sheer limitations of space available upon which to build. Time Management game lovers won't find Dream Builder exceptionally challenging, but I don't think it's aimed at them.
Overall this is a well-balanced game that will especially appeal to youngsters and those who are either very new at Time Management or who would prefer a more "Sims" feel to their simulators. Brilliantly done and I very much enjoyed playing it.

Kids' Game That's Great for Adults Too
LOTS of fun if you don't mind the lack of pressure, lol. There's no timer and no brain crunching, but you do have to think ahead to get the best results. It's gratifying to watch your park grow, especially because the graphics are so colorful and cute. Yes, it is Roller Coaster Tycoon lite, but it's meant for a very casual gaming experience. The only con I've come across is that you can't easily zoom out to see your whole park if you're not building something at that moment. A refreshing change from the dark and gloomy HOGS that are the usual fare here.

Sorry -Boring game play :(
I was very excited to download this game to try it out, as I loved Roller Coaster Tycoon. But, I was disappointed with Dream Builder Amusement Park, as it was boring to play. I would have liked it better if you could choose from a variety of rides and concessions to meet your goals, verses being locked into, "place this specific one, and this specific one = successfully meeting your goal. Perhaps later on in the game, you are given more freedom with variety. I unfortunately won't be able to find out, because after an hour of playing with the free trial download, I was happy to stop and be done with it. And, it was a bit frustrating that you could not turn the screen to get a different angled viewpoint of the park, so that you may look behind a building structure - you are only allowed to move up/down, side-to-side. This made it difficult to place the sidewalks, regardless of the fact that the rides become transparent during sidewalk-placing. The music was tinny sounding and annoying, so I turned it off.
*I will, however, give credit for the bright colors and whimsical aspects of the game such as the creative-looking ride structures that you place through out the park. I also admire the original ideas of magazine challenges, and how you can market to the different types of people.
Game developers, I believe you gave some good efforts, and with some tweaks, this could be a smash hit. If you can: upgrade the maneuverability with 360 degree viewpoints, add 'variety' aspects within the magazine goals, and put in some higher quality background music, I'd be very willing to purchase this game. Thank you.

Love it!
This game is so much fun. I have had hours of enjoyment. There are four different locations to decorate so it takes awhile to get through it. I love all of the animations. They are so cute. And there are multitudes of different rides, attractions, decorations, and food. Each location has new things added to keep it interesting. There is no time limit. It is a fun building game using logic to complete goals.

Fun but takes getting used to
I liked this game but had to get used to it since it was different than other theme park games I have played. I would suggest some improvements. You should be able to rotate your buildings any way you want 360 degrees. I couldn't stand when the weekly notification appeared and I had to constantly close it when I was in the middle of something. There should be an option to turn it off or have something silently appear letting you know the week was up. One more level would have been good as well. Overall I liked this game a lot once I saw it as it's own game and didn't compare it to other theme games I have played.

Really surprised by how much I disliked this game
I am a time management gaming fool. I was really excited to play this game. I found it boring, hard to see the big picture, no clear objectives against the clock. I didn't even finish the one hour trial. That speaks volumes because I almost always finish the hour. Most games leave you wanting more when the clock runs out. I turned this one off. Really disapointed.

Unexpected Challenge
This is an excellent game that is full of strategy with no time restraints. I appreciate having the time to think through each challenge and the great thing is that mistakes are correctable without wasting money. For example, if I build a building and then decide it needs to be in a particular zone I can just move it. Same goes for decorations.
Love this terrific game!

Not for me
This is a cute little game. May be more suited to children or players who are just starting out in builder type games.
For me it was a little bit too simplistic. There was no storyline, very little character interaction and it was just missing a sense of humour!
I had high hopes when I downloaded it, but I was disappointed.
I would definitely recommend a trial before commiting to buying this one.

Awesome game!
I Beta tested this game a couple months ago and have been waiting anxiously until it was released. This is one of the best games I've played in a while and I play a LOT of games. The graphics are excellent, the gameplay is super smooth... there's nothing about this one that I don't like.

Not just another Theme Park or RC Tycoon
I love open ended time management games - games where you can choose where to put any element in the game. Well this is one of them! It plays a lot like roller coaster tycoon (or, if you're old school,Theme Park). However, the challenge and interest is heightened when you try to group like rides and attractions together to make special zones. It's a lot of fun and after my hour was up, I immediately bought it.
