Fun and easy, too I liked this game. The video/voice-overs could have been better, but all-in-all it was fun, not too challenging, but not so easy that I felt bored the entire time playing it. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a variety of puzzles, those aren't just hidden objects. August 26, 2012
Faultless This is certainly the best game that I have played, to date. Everything about it is faultless. I won't describe the story, because many have done that before me. The story line, although fantasy, is believable, the graphics, and the effects are beautiful. Voice-overs, and actors are exceptional, and believable, and the music is soothing, and none intrusive. I played in Hardcore mode, with no hints, and no skips. There are enough hints in the dialogues to get you on the right track, and the puzzles are all do-able, if you use a bit of logic. (as a retired design engineer, I'm used to solving problems; but these are so much more fun!) The acting in the cut scenes is excellent, and the whole game gells together very well. I played the SE version, and found it very complete, and logical, all the way through. I'm just about to buy the first Surface: Hope that it meets the same standards. Thank you BFG, and Elephant October 9, 2012
Compelling, beautiful game This review will cover both standard and collectors editions. Lush. Gorgeous. Wonderful story well presented. Very satisfying, fully developed ending in the standard edition. Very well done, Elephant Games. A quite good, if somewhat trite and contrived, ending completes the collectors edition, as well. Mini-games are fun and not overly-difficult, as are the HOS. I can enthusiastically recommend this game. It is a real work of art. September 24, 2012
Excellent and different Nice game, good graphics, good storyline, overall good game. Played the whole demo and time was up before I knew it. Went to buy and then back to play. Good game. August 26, 2012
Great game I love this game. It offers a lot of challenges. I am surprised it just showed up for the PC. I got mine for the IPad a while ago. I am wondering if the game has differences From the PC to the Ipad but dont want to buy it again to find out. No matter what, there can't be to much except maybe with the PC you can get the collectors edition. Either way this game can give you some challenges and is a lot of fun. August 24, 2012
Hate to Disagree... My two cents... I got this game because of all the great reviews. While it certainly isn't bad, it's not as great as I thought it should be. I found it repetitive, not challenging enough, and most of all I really disliked the graphic layouts. Some scenes literally looked like someone tossed a narrative in a blender and threw it on a page. There's a car on a tree next to a scarecrow--huh? They didn't integrate the elements with the story very well. Felt tossed together and lazy, like they couldn't be bothered to make it more coherent. The storyline is good, but the cut scenes are so hammy and slow they got on my nerves. SOME of it is great and gorgeous, but then it will switch to another "blender" scene lol. Definately worth 3 stars but I won't want to play it again. December 2, 2012
Better Than the First Game I love reading reviews, but I'm not usually one for writing them. After having just finished Surface: The Noise She Couldn't Make though, I had to contribute. I have played Surface: Mystery of Another World and enjoyed it very much. But I thought this one was much more fun. I have to admit, there were a few little things that I felt could have been better, but overall it was the most fun I've had playing this sort of game in a long time. There were a few situations that I would never have been able to figure out logically, but that's just me. Otherwise, I had a great time working through the location puzzles and minigames, a few of which I've never seen before. That was an added bonus. I apppreciated the intuitive help system and although a few times it gave me too much info, for the most part the hints came only when I needed them and didn't make solutions too obvious. Interestingly though, my 8 year old granddaughter was able to figure out a lot of little puzzles with the extra hints the game provided on demand. That made it a nice balance for us. I loved the graphics and the sound effects. I'm one of the strange ones who actually likes to have the game's music playing in the background, and I felt the balance between music and sounds was great. The locations were all well lit and easy to see, as were the hidden object scenes and minigames. The storyline flowed very well in my opinion, keeping me up to date with what I needed to do and where I needed to be; speaking of which, the map feature was awesome. Many of the side comments were hilarious, and really added to my enjoyment. The "evil" one was great, and the atmosphere toward the end gave such a good feeling of being there that I was figuratively looking over my shoulder at certain points. The game was a good length without being too repetitious, and it had me wanting to play non-stop to the end just to see what would happen next. Cheers and well done to Elephant Games, developers of another excellent game. September 26, 2012
2 stars, at the most since i was reading the reviews of this game and since ALL of them were positive, i decided to try it. it saddens me to say that i'm not even satisfied. i only played it for 18 minutes. the game lacked tension, excitement, and my eyes are drooping at 7 pm, that's just sad. but graphics wise, it was very detailed! Best game I've played! For me, I love games that have a good story line and has awesome graphics. This was so fun to play, really interesting story, and SO much game play! Just when you think it might be over, there is a whole new part to play. I had well over 5 hours of game play, maybe more. I'm not sure, but its definitely one of the longer games out there, and I just played the SE. The cut scenes were really great, and not too many HOS, which can get so old. The mini games were original and challenging at times. I can't say enough good things about this game. It was awesome, and I was sad when it ended. This is a MUST BUY!! November 4, 2012
Best game i've played in a long time Really enjoyed this game. Thought it was definitely worth the money as it wasn't too short. I like the way you could go onto the map and it would take you straight there. Good, clear graphics with enjoyable HOS. I didn't find the puzzles too hard but they were challenging enough for them to use some brain matter. Hint button didn't take long to charge if you used it.. Hope there are more games like this to come in the future September 19, 2012
