like a good old fashioned horror movie This was a fantastic game in every sense. I loved the witch laughing and all those monsters. The graphics were just totally awesome. So well drawn. I applaud the imagination of these people who can think up this kind of stuff and put it on a game for us to enjoy. What brilliance! Thank you guys and gals for expressing your immense talents. This is a must game for the reasons I mentioned above and for anyone who likes a good horror game. Just marvelous! Get it! May 2, 2013
Gothic Fiction:Dark Saga Collectors Edition .-Yes to art, story line and graphics!. The longest game I think I have ever played, huge game play! BUT found game play tedious- like to figure out things for myself, and most of the time, don't need the strategy guide. This game had me tied to the strategy guide, forums & walkthroughs to get through it --not recommended if you enjoy games you like to solve yourself. Otherwise a good long game. March 21, 2013
Not my favorite I didnt care for this game as much as others. I found it tedious having to keep back tracking the whole game. There was a map, but you cant use it to jump to locations like other games. Puzzles were really quite ridiculous. A few of them I was able to do without skipping, but many were pretty much impossible to complete, ended up skipping most of them. The skip buttons takes several minutes to load. I have played many games that had very difficult puzzles, but rarely run into ones that are impossible to solve. The storyline was lame to me. Too much like other storylines (evil witch, ghosts/projections of kids, etc). Graphics were Good for the most part, but there were a few areas and scenes that seemed blurry. Another downfall of the game (for me anyways) was that there was NO HOS whatsoever. You had to keep backtracking to different locations to find items. March 9, 2013
WORRIED BUT QUITE IMPRESSED This game is very good, It starts out like many childish stories, witch and evil spells, but shortly into the game, it will grab you. It then takes off with great mini-games and hos. Not as dark as I thought it would be, graphics and storyline very good. I was glad to have the map, only wished I could have jumped using the map, but the developers kept that in mind, with a wee-bit of help.(play the game and find out) Some of the mini-games are quite easy and that was like a "brain break". About the only improvement, Make bonus chapter longer. February 22, 2013
Can't make up my mind on this one I've played hundreds of adventure games, and this one I just can't seem to make my mind up on. The storyline is interesting, the graphics, etc., I found to be very good, but the puzzles are ridiculously simple which I found disappointing, and it compromised the quality of the game, as a result. I enjoy the break from the HO scenes but there really could've been more thought and effort put into the puzzles. For me, this game is... meh. February 21, 2013
I'd say this was all over the map but I haven's seen a map that big .There are a number of good things about this game but a few that hold it back. I don't know if it comes in an SE edition or not, but, if the CE is this frustrating, buyer beware. The hint system is beyond "not helpful" If ever a game needed an interactive map, this is it. This is not a terrible game. It's just not worth the price of admission as is. Give me a helpful "Help" function and an interactive map and I'll gladly award the game 5 stars. Until then, December 27, 2012
So Close I love the games that mix hidden object games along with the adventurous side and while this did prove to be a good adventure, I found myself wishing for at least a few hidden object games but this one had no hidden object games at all, so if you were wanting some this isn't the game for you. But the adventure part keeps you entertained as you wait for that next twist and turn. The graphics were pretty good I felt and the sound was not annoying as some games can be. The hints seemed to charge at a pretty nice speed, the skip button on the easy setting charges in one minute for the puzzles. I did find this to be enjoyable, and even a bit tricky, but that is what had me buying the game before the trial was over. Very nice game. December 15, 2012
Poor: Story, graphics, game play, navigation, dubbing... Disappointing Adventure game with no HO - which would be appealing if there was any interesting plot or game play. I bought this because I like adventure games and wanted a break from HO. There were so many rave reviews, but I wish I had started from the poor reviews first: eye opening. This game is jarring on so many levels. Set in England? Yeah right... Yellow American school buses, US road signs saying 'route 999', steering wheels and driving on the wrong side, architecture which feels American, not an English accent in sight, no school uniforms or children remotely dressed as though for school. Did I have to walk to and fro and to and fro and to and fro? Yes and it drove me bonkers. Any problems with the game? It seems resource heavy on my laptop and not as responsive as other games which have better game play and graphics. Also it crashed part way through. Opening / closing the story book was a bit slow. Did it feel spooky? No. Not helped by poor dubbing of actors, poor casting, poor scenery which did not feel school-like, and monsters that looked a bit 'arcade-like' with brash colours and pointy teeth. Storyline? The start of the game feels rushed and only makes sense if you read the journal to pad out the beginning of the story. And the end? Well, if you have the standard edition you are going to get a short abrupt ending which hits you like a slap in the face. The end. At least with CE you get to play out a bit more of a story. However, by this point you want the game to end, but feel obliged to play because you've spent extra on the CE.... Did I care what happened? Not really. Who do I think will like this game? Peeps who are not so much into storyline and just want an adventure game of medium difficulty. If that is all you want, then this will fit the bill. If you are someone like me who is more story line driven, I'd recommend you give this a miss. How on earth is this getting 5 stars from people ...? Maybe they need to play more games for a more balanced comparison? December 9, 2012
Awesome I loved this game! It made a nice change to have no HOS in the game at all. It was just the right level of challenge, not easy, but not so hard that it couldn't be done. November 23, 2012
Loved it! I played this game over 2 weeks (a few hours at a time). I loved it. The only thing that let it down was the lack of a map to go to the places that had already been investigated. All the puzzles were easy enough to solve, and the back and forth between screens wasn't too bad. I am already planning to play this one again. Well done. November 14, 2012
