GOTHIC ALRIGHT
Best way to describe game - GOTHIC! Same old storyline you need to get daughter back from witch. Lots of creepy vines, monsters and eerie places but not dark or gore-y. Finished demo and not one HOS. The VO was excellent...witch voice and laughter was superb! ER has done a great job as expected. No special things to collect as expected from CE. 3 modes of play, cursor was a creepy eye and the lock for your inventory were creepy vines which can lock/unlock - thought that was cool. Lots of mini games thanks devs but they were too easy for me. Think this is more for beginners. They were fun tho as most mini games are original and have not seen before. One mini game had 3D effects where you actually choose objects to carry out the play. Map not interactive and you get it later on. At middle of demo a girl takes you into a portal. Be warned this portal will not be there when you go back (unlike other games where the portals are kept open). SG was there but hardly used it as the game was too easy. Sadly the SG will not give an idea of how long the game is as it only shows the guide upto Chap 2. I think this is a short game as it seems there's only 5 chapters and I was in the middle of Chapter 3 when the demo ended. Not sure if I will buy CE - nothing to collect, no achievements, map is not interactive, mini games original but way too easy so I might wait for SE. Do give it a go - still lots of fun. And yes I recommend the game.

BORING & THE SAME OLD STORY!!!!
Artwork is nice but the very loud cheezy voice overs and super easy mini games & no sign of HO scenes & the other objects too easy to find.No challenge! If this isn't boring enough I really think these normally good designers need to leave there dark, dank computer rooms and join the real world and think of SOMETHING, ANYTHING other than blaming every bad thing in the world on an EVIL WITCH. Normally I love these types of games but I'm sick of the witch hunts and won't buy any more of them. Think of something new. GEE is it the middle ages suddenly and it's just easy to blame it all on witches or are they afraid of women. Shake up a can of ideas and pull out something else to scare people with.
Seen it done it and won't buy another one like it!

good game but..........................
some of the mini games are quite hard ( I'll just say LIGHTBULBS!!!!!) and the explanation about how to complete them is quite sketchy, overall a good game though and lasted a good amount of time. Make sure you have all the witches book pages or you haven't a hope of unlocking the bonus which i assume completes the story, i dont know as have as yet been unable to access the bonus!!! I'll have to go all the way through again to find out where i missed the page/pages from before i can complete. And I hate that!!!

Can't recommend
Advertised and bought as a hidden object game, but was WAY disappointed. NO hidden objects. The trial started out promising and I decided to purchase it. The first hour (trial) was the only part I can really say I enjoyed. You spend an UNBELIEVABLE amount of time running back and forth from one scene to another and after a while they all seem the same, so it's hard to even remember where you're going. Can NOT recommend this at all.

Really enjoyed this game
This was such a great game. Yes, the story-line is the same as so many others. The visuals and sound are great, except for the cut scenes that are, as usual, very cheesy. The fun factor was still excellent, as was the level of challenge. This game was not one of the games you finish quickly and had so many different puzzles. I really enjoyed it. I would most definitely recommend it!

Wonderful, at last a game without HOS
I can only say "thank you" to ERS Game Studio for an Adventure game one can enjoy. Exploring and finding items
without having to put up with a boring HOlist is just great.
I just hope there will be much more games like this from now on.
I can only recommend this game!

It's about time!
I am so thrilled that this game came out. It's a lot of fun, I personally don't think it's quite the "been there done that" that some people feel it is. It kept me mesmerized for the whole hour and that's something, because half the time I plod through these games. I really like the hidden object scene games, so when I realized this didn't have the "find the object" scenes I was initially disappointed, but that soon faded because this is a great game. Also, for me, I love the fact that the puzzles are NOT DIFFICULT! Especially in a demo, I don't want to spend tons of time on these mini games. I just really think this game is unique in several areas and would encourage people to buy it!

Absolutely Wonderful!!
ERS you do it again and again all the time and never fail in my expectations of a fantastic game. The only draw back for me is this is the second game in a row with no HOS, objects to pick up along the way but no actual HOS which i miss quite a lot...I love the real actors and the storyline is the usual creepy stuff but that doesn't stop it from being a fab gameplay. The graphics are outstanding and quite a lengthy game and doesn't hold your hand, you have a real brain teaser with difficulty in finding what to do next at times but that's part of the fun and the hint button isn't too great at leading the way. Bought this in a sale this morning for just over 7 and worth every penny!

Gothic yes, challenging no.
strange that this game didn't have any HOG scenes, considering the developers. The plot was nicely creepy, the artwork/graphics the same.Loved all the scary plant monsters with multiple eyes.
My low rating is influenced by the minigames , all were so so so so easy, what a disappointment. Played on expert mode and THANK YOU developers for having a mode without all those pathetic black box hints.
Loved the" moving" pictures. Hated the overdramatic, untalented human "actors". My continuing complaint: if this developer wasn't so busy turning out games as fast as possible this could have been a real quality, remarkable game. As it is, I'm not sure it's worth the CE price.
Summary: creepy gothic, very easy, nice little touches, not upset that I bought it, but don't expect anything close to Ravenhearst.

Average Adventure-lite (featuring... Elvira??)
So many great games have come from ERS. And against the tide, Imo this isn't one of 'em. I beta'd this way back in April, so i was expecting... well, better than what i saw then, which it may be but not by much. Don't get me wrong, there's some good stuff here. This is adventure-lite, so no HOs at all, & I'm thrilled that ERS is launching into this type of game & hope a lot of folks really like it. There's a lot of running around among many locations, & the map is only minimally useful & doesn't transport you. There's plenty to keep you busy - typical of adventure play, you'll be moving & doing & searching & finding. But despite that, this one got pretty tedious for me - i think because the story doesnt seem to evolve with the gameplay; you pretty much know up front what's going on, what to expect, & there really arent any surprises, so movement was necessary but not necessarily fun. I also think we've seen way better artwork/graphix from this dev, & i didn't care much for what in many instances is a cartoonish presentation that seemed somehow unfinished. A well done incorporation of live actors can be a plus for a game, & while one ghostly young girl is quite good, the rest are mediocre. Thankfully the Witch herself doesn't show up much, 'cause she reminds me too much of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, & i just can't take her seriously. There are plenty of puzzles/minis, mostly very easy. 3 modes of gameplay so you can bump up the challenge. The journal isn't very involved, & you will be collecting pages to a separate book of the Witch's story. Music, while it isn't particularly atmosheric, isn't intrusive. You've got a decent length of play, & should have with the SE as well - which i would recommend, as the CE bonus isn't necessary to the story, & the game/story, imho, isn't worth a CE. Just a hunch, but if this is going to be the 1st of serial GF games, i'm hoping this dev cuts its baby adventure game teeth here & comes out with something a little better next time. While Gothic Fiction just didn't kick it for me with that fully immersive atmosphere i look for in a good d&e game, I think GF is an average game that'll be plenty good for lots of folks who want to try their hand at an adventure type game without the hidden object aspect. Enjoy your gaming, folks!
