Alchemy Mysteries: Prague Legends 3.2 5 30 30
Spooky Adventure in Prague I really liked this game by a dev we haven't seen in quite a while, JetDogs studios. These guys did the Millenium Secrets adventure games, which i love (something else to try if you haven't yet) Alchemy Mysteries also focuses heavily on adventure play & some folks may find it a bit of a slow mover because of that. There are HOscenes that are interactive, some of which will depend on finds outside of the scene to complete. For the most part HOs are decent enough, with some objects a bit tough to see, but not bad. Cutscenes & voice are good, while music & audio effects are negligible. You are able to move around a room to see 360 degrees, but in increments, which is cool & shouldn't bring on the motion queasy issues. This game has an older kind of look & feel in a lot of places, which i actually liked a lot; it seemed right for this story, location, & the overall atmosphere. There's a journal, with incorporated map that shows you where actions are available, & will take you there - i love when that happens :) Otherwise, not a lot of bells & whistles so you're gonna use the little gray cells playing thru this one, with little hand holding. It's not horribly difficult but there's challenge enough & good length to this game, with some pretty decent puzzles. This is a spooky little bugger with occult overtones, so be aware if you don't like the genre. If you do, i recommend giving this one a try. The story is interesting, gameplay keeps you moving a lot, & the end hints at a sequel, which i will look forward to. A nice SE offering - thanks bfg, & happy gaming, folks! September 9, 2012
Different that other HIdden Object games, but still good! Yeah, it's different than other HIdden Object games, and the puzzles are easy to solve, in my opinion. And if it's too difficult, the skip button charges pretty fast. The hint button is very helpful, and the journal is a good help too. I wasn't too fond of the voices though. I either read it myself or skipped it. The game is kind of adventure-y too. But I enjoyed that. The story was nice too. September 10, 2012
A good eery HOAG, but with some flaws As always, I base my review on the entire game and not on a hour of trial. To begin with I like the graphics and the sound. It has an eery feeling which gives it a pleasant touch. The 360 view works very well. The scenes and the characters are well designed. Some locations have been replaced with real photographs, but these have been treated in such a way that they do not clash with the digitally drawn scenes. Voiceovers are OK. The storyline is good... the story has something spooky about it and the alchemy theme works well. Gameplay is not bad. You get a lot of help to get on with the game: there is an interactive map which shows you all you need to know and takes you where you want to be... the journal helps you to keep track of your tasks... the hint button points you in the right direction and shows you where something is to be done. The hint button recharges very quickly, even in advanced mode. HOS are repeated - which I don't like. They are not difficult and contain some interactivity. Some locations act as a HOS. Puzzles and minigames are too easy ... they really don't offer a challenge. Some of them are repeated more than once - this I don't like either. All in all the game is not bad. It is well conceived but it has some flaws: - too easy - HOS and puzzles are repeated - it only took me 6 hours to finish in advanced mode I would have given it 4 stars, but the flaws push me to accord only 3 stars. One of the Best Had all the elements of a FUN game. September 8, 2012
Shoulda paid attention to poor reviews I've been playing this game for the last couple of hours and I cannot wait to be done with it! First, the lag time between switching from one location to another is ridiculous, to the point that I keep thinking the game is locked up. Also, this is one of those games where you can swivel 360 degrees in a room/location. Some might like that, not me. I have a bad enough sense of direction without having 4 different directions to choose from. Also, you're constantly getting a hand cursor as if you can pick something up, but there isn't really anything there to do or pick up. It makes you have to be constantly clicking to make sure you aren't missing something. The HOS are a little more challenging as it's hard to see items at times, and you have to either perform different acts or use items from your inventory to complete the HOS scenes. But I'm finding it way to hard to figure out what to do next or where to go. Luckily, you have a map that tells you where you can go that there are actions to be performed, and if you click on that location, it takes your right there. But at times, even that is wrong because it will tell you there's nothing to do anywhere. I've used the hint button way to much already. And honestly, if you asked me to tell you the storyline, I couldn't do it. I have no idea what it's about. I wouldn't waste your time or money. Luckily, I at least used a free game credit. Disappointing Hidden Object Game This game was really interesting at the beginning and had a good storyline. Unfortunately, as the game progressed, I found that it become a little boring and repetitive. The plot didn't flow and at times, didn't make any sense at all. The hidden object scenes were of very little challenge. I thought that it was an o.k. game, with easy puzzles and hidden objects scenes. I found that the ending of game was disappointing and anticlimactic. Perhaps some might think that this game would be nice to play on a rainy day. However, I was dissatisfied with the game overall. Painful Female Voice Over I know that many of these developers are small companies, but I actually quit playing the game because the female voice over was so bad. I think if they had used an artificial intelligence speaking voice it wouldn't have been any worse. Good game overall. Too bad about the voice though! September 24, 2012
NOT FUN!!! No walkthrough available so good luck. Glad the hint refilled quickly and acted as a guide from place to place. There is a map but I found the hint to be more helpful. If you're an HO fan, you won't care much for this game. Each HO only has about 6 items to search for, some in other areas. Too much running around for me. The animation was good and the VOs were a tad hammy. Lots of puzzles and pieces of puzzles to collect in different areas. Tiresome and frustrating. September 20, 2012
Based on demo. Disappointing I know people like reviewers to have played the whole game before they review but honestly I wasn't going to waste my money on this one just so I could review it. The intro was the best bit in it and promised a good game. Unfortunately the graphics as someone else said were just AWFUL and not up to the usual standard I have come to expect from the highly rated games on Big Fish. I personally did not mind the storyline or the minigames and would at least liked to have finished the demo but I couldn't cope with all the poor features for example no change of symbol from touch to look just a poorly drawn hand all the time. The inventory items were also very crudely done. It seemed odd as the characters were well drawn as were some of the street scenes. All in all a disappointment. September 7, 2012
Just OK This game was just ok, nothing great, but then when you compare it to some of the recent games we've played, it doesn't quite match up. It was more on the boring side than anything. Good to play if you have nothing else to do. September 7, 2012
