Right so to each their own This is only my opinion, so here goes. Maybe I am spoiled by some of BF's truly great games, but I found this one to be a bit boring for my own personal taste. Houdini showing up just in time to point his arm outward and use his wand whenever he is present was just not my thing. Now, on a lighter note, the graphics were good, and the music was not annoying at least to me. Sorry, I would not buy this game. September 24, 2012
Real Killer For Me Was Confusion After taking a break from online gaming, I stumbled upon this game, and it was a real confusing one! Good Parts: Thrilling intro! Absolutely loved it, and supported by a decent storyline. The hidden object scenes (junkpile) were good. Pretty decent graphics for a modern game. Could use a little work though, but overall still acceptable. Great voice-overs. The film reels were an excellent adition to the game, uncovering more of Alan Whitehead's story. Hint recharged pretty fast. OK Parts: The puzzles. Some were a great challenge and real fun, others were a pain. The fun factor of the game was marred by complete confusion. Bad Parts: The "association" Hidden Object Scenes were utterly ridiculous and just a complete waste of time. The strategy guide was useless unless you used it right from the beginning. The game was confusing! I had no idea what to do next and most of the time the hint wouldn't help either. I tried to use the strategy guide but couldn't. So annoying. I was just confused beyond my mind throughout this game. Sorry to say, I can't recommend. October 5, 2012
Very disappointed The bonus level was incredibly short. Not worth the C.E. price. September 24, 2012
Houdini Just not a great game, sad to say - I expect more from collector's editions than this. September 25, 2012
Don't Get It!! unless you like... Easy puzzles... which most were... even one of those Stupid Spot the Differences in the Bonus gameplay... okay maybe I liked Spot the Differences.. when I was a First Grader.... Instead of Normal HO scenes... Half were Association ... Such as a Cannon Ball and you have to find the cannon... well thats okay... However many of them made next to no sense... and I had to use the hint for far too many.. Also... I am not fond of HOS most of the time.. Cannot Understand for the life of me what happened to Good ole Adventure Games which Never Ever had HOS.... so I guess what we have today is HOGs which are Adventure Games.. if thats all there is for PC these days.. I will take it... Getting back to the HOS in this game... the straight up ones are Mostly okay... some were too dark to see .. but this match similar items thing is soo So DULL Apparently something titled "sombrero" goes with an ice cold drink and citrus garnish.. as we ALL Know!! and a cloud that looks like it is blowing wind... entitled "FAN" goes with an antique electric table fan... of course! and what appears to be a tiny pic of russian nesting dolls entitled "Russian Something" (kid you not and this From Russians themselves!!) goes with a single Russian nesting doll... Apparently a slice of Pie Entitled "cake" goes with a PRETZEL... and so on.. this game repeated over and over and was Awful imo... then the story... i Love Houdini but I find it Insulting to a LEGEND of a man... and his good dear wife... both who are now Deceased... and should be Respected... that the story is .. he adopts a boy and Houdini and Bess must be Horrible at parenting because they raise this boy to be a selfish crack pot psycho... Do not like that idea At All Demeans the man who was AmaZing... the other part of the story that I dislike... Supposedly this psycho magician attacks and crashes commercial airplanes.. In HOPES of some folks RANDOMLY Surviving the crash and then RANDOMLY being in some way Gifted Enough.. to bring his wife back from some crazy Limbo she is stuck in.. MAKES NO SENSE!! How about Instead the villian kidnaps known psychics or something? this part of the story idea makes Zero Sense!! you watch films about Houdini and Adopted Son first of all why would any of the characters make these films? secondly which character made the films? Thirdly.. they used Drawings for some of the films... old photos for others... AND the person who was the son... they used about 3 different old photos of Completely Different Individuals to Represent this "SON" in the films... if you are going to make the films.. Make them UNIFORM... All are drawings OR All are using old photos... and do not use photos of 4 Different people and Expect me to Believe that they are the same man when they Clearly are not.. they should have just stuck with Drawings Only... I have one good thing to say of praise... based on what the game tells you... the story takes place in the late seventies say about 1979 in the bonus gameplay.. a seventies retro automobile was used.. thats pretty much all I can say nice about this game... It would appear from the reviews here.. that many do not share my dislike of this game... I will never play this game again... and I will soon forget about it... If you Love Houdini... If you Enjoy Puzzles/Mini Games If you Enjoy Adventure Games.. If you Enjoy a Fantastic Story.... Purchase MIDNIGHT MYSTERIES HAUNTED HOUDINI DELUXE Its a TERRIFIC Game!! January 17, 2013
