Worst MCF ever. That is by far the worst mystery case file made. I couldn't even finish it. It was repetitive and stupid. March 11, 2013
What Happened To Mystery Case Files? Only played the Trial. This game is not up to standard. Hints are Terrible, HOS are a mess as you have search entire rooms and it takes forever to change scenes. Did not like at all and did not bother to finish trial. March 3, 2013
Best MCF Yet :) Throughly enjoyed this game. Best MCF game yet. March 3, 2013
Worst Myster Case Files Game to Date! I have always been a fan of the Mystery Case Files games and have enjoyed each one until now. This incarnation of MCF is nothing like the previous versions. The story line is uninteresting, as are the characters. All of the cool bonus features one expects to find in a collector's edition are sadly lacking. If it didn't carry the name Mystery Case Files I wouldn't have known it was from that series of games since it is so poorly done and bears no resemblance to the previous MCFs. Poorly done Big Fish...poorly done. March 1, 2013
Cut Scenes vs. Game Play While the graphics and cut scenes in this game were excellent, they were too long and too frequent, which cut into actual game play. Did like the hidden object idea of finding locations in the game. It makes the player be more aware of the scenery. February 27, 2013
Anticipation met with disappointment. Mystery Case Files games have a reputation for quality, intriguing gameplay, and innovation. Unfortunately this was not apparent in this episode. The process through the game was very samey; go here - do this - come back. The use of film clips to dramatise the storyline has steadily increased in these episodes, but they were used excessively in this game. Or maybe it just seemed that way. 13th Skull was also overrun with film clips, and was also not my favourite game. Shadow Lake was short, dull, and more about the actors than the game. The morphing objects were a great idea, however it just didn't quite hit the mark here. This game took me a long time to finish, it just didn't hold my interest, and unlike previous games, I wasn't glued to my computer until I completed it. So disappointed, and so wary of the next episode. I'd love to see more puzzles, more fabulous art, more innovation, more humour, less actors, less film clips, more fun! February 26, 2013
The best game This is the best game ever!! I'm searching a game like this since the x-files on psx. This game makes you think by reading the clues not just collect them and use them. It's challenging, little more dificult than the others and it can last little more time (usualy this kind of games you finish them in a very short time) and most of all Real pictures and actors, not only comics and 3Ds, although i would prefere if the intire game was made only with real things . Keep on the good work. February 26, 2013
I thought this game was the most fun yet! I've seen how a lot of people write how disappointed they are in the picture quality and the scene's aren't as colorful as they usually are. I believe the complete opposite, the storyline is set to have happened many years earlier so it shows the sign of age and also gave off an eerie feel to it. I enjoyed playing it and loved seeing a main celebrity involved with the game. It was challenging enough for me and was easy to navigate because of the map...most of the other MCF games the detective is walking everywhere and makes me tired just playing the game lol. Thank you MCF and BigFish for giving me something different. February 26, 2013
Don't waste your time I have been a faithful MCF fan for years and waited all year for the next game. I was so disappointed with this game. Worse yet, I bought the CE version and feel like I wasted my money. The magic that is MCF was completely missing. It was just boring. If you want to try it, just by the regular version and don't waste your money on the CE or the strategy guide. They have some serious work for the next game to get back to the old feeling. The Best MCF yet I used to do adventure games in the old days and never was able to finish them. The new generation such as Mystery Case Files are doable albeit with a little help from a walkthru once in a while. I've always found MCF superior to others and Shadow Lake is no different. They've stepped it up and the story line was really good. There is a new feature instead of connecting puzzle pieces you connect moving squares as a way to get to another step in the story. Another thing I liked was that you had to go to various screens to find all the objects and drawings. Lea Thompson is delightfully hammy as Cassandra and I got quite a chuckle out of her acting. Now I'm in my 60's and do this on and off about an hour or 2 at a time and no I can't solve a puzzle in 10 seconds but I hope those that say they do are doing as well in school. The only thing I didn't like was the strategy guide which is lame as you kids say, LOL! I think is was as good an MCF game as I've ever played and look forward to the next. February 13, 2013
