I love that Exceptional Fantasy World created by BoomZap ! There are many great reviews here, but I feel that I must say: What a wonderful game! It`s so beautiful, so full of charm and fantasy! It remained me of "The Lost World" by Conan Doyle (I love adventures of Professor Challenger very much!). In this game I feel like a true adventurer and I like this feeling very much! "Into the Unknown"-these words sound magically for me. And I am glad that the game will be continued (I mean a sequel). I want to say Thank You BoomZap for this great game! I love all your games, because they always are unique, special and creative, because they have their own exceptional atmosphere and inimitable charm, with their colorful and bright graphics! Fantasy World that you created in your games is beautiful! Just keep going your own way! Thank You! October 25, 2012
.Botanica into the unknown Collectors Edition The back ground and music was perfect. Very easy to keep up with. The game was very interesting. Had to make myself quit so I could eat dinner. How about more of these games? October 25, 2012
gorgeous I have finished the game and it took me two days. The reason: I did not want to leave all of the flowers, colors, music, storyline, and puzzles. I personally found it balanced. I get so tired of trying to find a personna that is going around hurting people or destroying property. Please bring more games like these. October 25, 2012
Wonderful change of pace This game was lovely to look at, which really convinced me to try it. There is light in scenes during daylight, and the artists used all the colors. (So many games recently are basically a monochromatic palette.) The game was not difficult, but the hint function was very helpful. Hints tell you what to do next, although not where to do it. ("Take the shard from the fountain", for example, instead of "There is nothing to do here". Finding the fountain, in this example, is still up to you.) The story is interesting enough and ends on a promise of a sequel. You get a journal but no map. Awards are given for not using hints or skipping mini-games. There were enough differences in the mini-games to keep them challenging. Multiple levels of challenge are available - I played on the easiest one. October 23, 2012
Unique and refreshing The wide screen graphics were beautiful and crisp making the HO scenes a lot more pleasing. The HO scenes were unique in their approach and the puzzles were challenging but winnable with a little effort. The most pleasing aspect of this game is the scenery of strange and wonderful places. I'm a huge sci-fi fan and this game has me seriously intrigued. I can't wait to travel to other lands and check out the other puzzles. This game is heavier on the adventure and less on HO and that's just the way I like it. October 23, 2012
Breath of fresh air! Very nice game! No ghosts, goblins, ghouls, specters, phantoms, demons...just alot of fun! Interesting and engaging storyline and GREAT graphics, everything is crisp and clear. Just enough interaction to keep you on your toes but not so much running back and forth as to make it tedious. This is NOT your typical point-and-click HOG. I really appreciated the intergrated guide and did refer to it quite a bit. I played for hours and do no regret one bit buying this game. Kudos to this developer...MORE, please!! October 23, 2012
Confusing Tasks and Mini-games As an avid fan of hidden object and puzzle games alike I thought Botanica: Into the Unknown looked rather fun, similar in structure to the ?Drawn? series. I was right about the similar structure; rather than go through hidden object scenes you collect objects (or parts of objects) as you go along in order to complete various tasks on your quest to subvert the wicked queen and find your way back home. [Also, for example, similar to the Puppetshow series if you took out the hidden object scenes.] I was wrong, however, about it being fun. Thirty-nine minutes into the free trial I closed the game in disgust and frustration due to confusing mini-games and even more confusing tasks. Rather than being intuitive or even remotely logical Botanica somehow expects the player to put together 4 or 5 step tasks that are very unusual. For example, gaining a hammer to open a crate to gain berries and a lighter which is then taken to the cooking hut, cut up, boiled (after obtaining a pitcher of water), all so a white cloth can be dyed red and the red cloth used to attract a bull-like creature to ram a tree to knock down a necessary ingredient in moving on to the next location. This is, of course, spread over eight or nine different location scenes forcing the player to move back and forth hoping to find something that might be useful somehow. Just for kicks, there?s also no map. The idea that the average player would understand they needed to do this (or, really, that they needed a red cloth at all) is unrealistic. I play a lot of hidden object games, I love games like Drawn, Puppetshow, Dark Parables, and Azada (which is all puzzles and putting objects together to achieve tasks) but games like these rely on having a logical and/or intuitive structure to them -- collecting glass shards to repair a broken window to create a reflection, for example -- rather than a series of incomprehensible steps. Botanica, in contrast, proves to be confusing and counterintuitive, if anything. Additionally, there are few hidden object scenes but the ones that are present are extremely easy to complete once you understand most of the objects require two steps (putting a skewer with a fish to create a skewered fish, for example). I can honestly say that, IMO, Botanica has nothing to recommend it but if you do buy it make certain to get the CE or otherwise gain access to a strategy guide -- you?re going to need it. Flowery Adventure Boom Zap has done it again. Marvellous! I admired the flowers in the Awakening series - but now, there is a whole world to explore. Sunch a creative imagination deserves 5 stars and more. And, of course there is danger, a handsome stranger and flight on a dragonfly - cant tell you more - discover yourself the Botanica - and you will be hooked, too. October 21, 2012
Thank you Boomzap! I'm so happy to see this game! I've always known I can rely on BZ to create beautiful, challenging and addicting games and this one does not disappoint. It's lighthearted, yet enchanting without worry of entering scenes full of doom and gloom. 3 challenge levels, guide moves with you, refreshing mini-puzzles, journal, kit and HOG's aren't the norm (good change). Another Boomzap Hit!!! I absolutely love this game developer so I was truly excited they released a brand new gaming series.Graphics were beautiful and voice over was okay sometimes :P Game play was more adventure than HO which i prefer anyway but when you did get an HO it was much better than the norm because they had different steps to get each object which I personally prefer as it can get very tedious with some HO games and annoying so loved the new vibe. You do have access to objectives if you get stuck but not really needed because there is not much running back and forward looking for items as they have each chapter set in different locations so no going back. All in all definitely worth a buy :):):) cant wait for the sequel thanks again boomzap !!!! October 22, 2012
