Not to be missed even if you're not a fan of plants! As the title stated, I am a fan of BoomZap games, so this one I bought without even trying the demo. I think this game is like a combination of Avatar and Atlantis, where you see many strange plants and animals. The game is pretty long, but too bad I don't know how to use the map feature. I don't think the map is interactive. There're few HOS and mostly interactive. Very few items to find. Minigames are abundant and fun, not too difficult. Voice overs are great and there are achievements to collect, although I can't seem to find the bugs that we need to collect throughout the game. I am satisfied playing this game, esp. since I bought it during the sale this weekend. Definitely a game to try, don't let the title put you off, although you're not a fan of flora like me, you'll surely find this game entertaining enough to keep you in your seat. February 18, 2013
Pleasant Light Adventure/HO The Scientist, Crazy Dr. Wright, used to tell stories to his daughter about unexplained phenomena and taught her to expect the unexpected. One day while on an expedition, there was an earthquake and he disappeared. Years later, the child now is an adult Botanist exploring in a cave when she discovers a portal ? you know what happens next! Settings: Sound, Music, Voice, Full Screen, System Cursor, Show Achievement Notification There is an Epilogue not available in the demo mode. Difficulties: Easy, Normal and Hard Graphics and Music: Graphics were beautiful and Music was typical relaxing background music. Tools: You have a tablet which takes the place of the journal, to do list, encyclopedia and map. You also get a Botanist kit with which to conduct experiments (mini-games) Games I encountered: Align the rings, connect the wires, blocks of rows and columns which can?t repeat, flip vertical pages to match a picture, Swap fruit into four equal weight piles. Doable games - nothing to difficult. Hidden Object Games: These were actually fun! You had to do them in a certain order by dragging two items together and using them in the correct way. For example, In order to get a sun, you have to complete a picture by finding a pencil sharpener, sharpening a dull pencil and them completing the picture. Fun Stuff: I rode a lizard, flew on a dragonfly, found collectible bugs and accomplished hidden achievements. Interactive Guide: Guide keeps up with you as you navigate the game. This was overall, a quite enjoyable game. October 21, 2012
gorgeous graphics and imaginative storyline when you were a child, your scientist father disappeared during an earthquake whilst on an expedition. but now, you are all grown up: you are Dr. Ellie Wright, a botanist who explores strange landscapes in search of new plant species. in this game, you are on an expedition of your own in Oceania when you find yourself stranded on a strange planet called Botanica. as you try to find your way back to Earth, you meet an interesting cast of characters, including people who knew your father, as you band together to outsmart Botanica's Queen Kassandra. graphics: lovely; imaginative and detailed animals and plants lurk in lush forests and fascinating steampunk villages. (if you are a fan of steampunk, then these graphics will not disappoint!) the game?s graphics do contrast sharply with the cartoonish and static cutscenes. sound: appropriate to the theme and non-intrusive. voices are clear and pleasant. few sound effects. storyline: as a scientist, i was intrigued by the game concept, which is interesting. however, there are inaccuracies that really bothered me. for example, this story is set somewhere in Oceania, yet the crashed airplane was supposedly lost over the north Atlantic -- which is close to the opposite side of the Earth from Oceania (located in the south Pacific). gameplay: there are three, increasingly challenging, modes of play. most new scenes have a small collectible insect hidden somewhere. hidden object scenes mostly consist of dragging matching items to each other before they can be collected (pencil sharpener to pencil, for example). no overclick penalty. puzzles are easy but can be skipped. hints are useful and (on normal mode) refresh after one minute. achievements are awarded, adding to replay value. there is a map and your journal is an iPad. (which left me wondering how the iPad battery was recharged?) my interaction: one hour demo, normal mode. no ghosts nor blood and gore, this game is beautifully conceived and rendered. it is great fun for the entire family and has good replay value. Enjoyed This Game! I really enjoyed this game. The graphics were very nice. I play at work, so cannot say anything about sound because I have to turn it off. BUT -- I was sad to see the game come to an end. November 5, 2012
Very Creative! Botanica is really impressed me by their beautiful world, which is something I'm looking for after playing too much dark and creepy HOS games. Botanica has good Storyline with different kinds of puzzles. I really love their HOS, which we have to do two or three steps to find the Objects. It's really fun! Some puzzles are really hard and challenged to solve! The voice actors are... alright. In my opinion, the voice actors are not good. This game is really worth for my money and my free time! Boom Zap Rocks Never disappointed by a Boom Zap game. Beautiful graphics, story line is interesting. It's just a great game. journal is something you will use often and it is multileveled hint is helpful HO's are interactive and different Mini games were a little hard for me, skipped a good many Good CE buy November 1, 2012
could be a good one the art work is great! i've had fun with the trial. i think this may be one to invest in. very mod with key cards and computers etc November 1, 2012
A fun and different Hidden object/ adventure game. This is a good game, very unique in plot. The graphics are just amazingly beautiful, esp. the flora and fauna. Not at all violent or scary (and I normally prefer scary creepy games) puzzles and HOS aren't very hard but fun. I always play without music and voices so can't comment on those. The characters are a little cheesy and somehow well equipped with "earth" things, but it's still a really fun game. Can't wait for the next one! October 30, 2012
Thank you Boomzap! I'm so happy to see this game! I've always known I can rely on BZ to create beautiful, challenging and addicting games and this one does not disappoint. It's lighthearted, yet enchanting without worry of entering scenes full of doom and gloom. 3 challenge levels, guide moves with you, refreshing mini-puzzles, journal, kit and HOG's aren't the norm (good change). Botanica or bust! In this game you are the botanist daughter of a scientist who has disappeared on a strange and beautiful world. You are trying to find him with the help of Ian, a man you meet there, and other-worldly creatures that up to now could have only existed in the imagination. Beside the fact that you are searching a wholly unknown world you have the added complication of an evil queen who has sworn to capture all other-world peoples who have found themselves on Botanica and whom you fear has evil intent towards your own world-Earth. I found this to be an engaging game full of lovely, clear colors and good sound in both music and voices. The flora and fauna are a delight to see and the story captures the imagination. There are 3 modes to play in, a SG that opens to the place you are, a liberal hint system and interactive HOS's. The HOS's are few and the minigames are fun. There are achievements to win and cute little bugs to collect. There was not alot of sneaker-wear in the demo I played and game flow was smooth and logical. Although I can't comment on game length having only played the demo, I will be purchasing this CE later this week. I give it 4.5 stars and recommend you try it for yourself :) October 21, 2012
