EXCELLENT ADVENTURE HOG!!! You will be getting LOADS OF BANG FOR YOUR BUCK by Buying this game.. so No Reason to Hesitate!!! SE Game IS essentially a CE Map Achievements and Generous Bonus Chapter Dont forget to play the Bonus Chapter after you finish the game!! The Story is Fantastic!! If you are an American you will Totally Appreciate this story as present day America is suffering thru times which are eerily Similar ... I categorize this game as Fantasy SciFi ish Adventure HOG... The bonus chapter is Superior and Better than most explaining how it all came to be... The graphics are Super Enjoyable I was easily immersed in this underwater world I could not pull myself away from the game I played thruout one entire day finishing late in the evening I do not like HO scenes however the ones in this game are not unbearable and there is an option to play a domino mini game instead of the HO scene For those of you that scare easily as i do You might jump out of your seat a good 10 times during game play nothing fancy ..just Surprise Moments :) Drawback for me .. There were Loads of HO scenes but i Still give this game Five Stars as it is a Fantastic Adventure Game with an Exceptional Story Whoever is Responsible for the Story idea is def Talented WELL DONE!! "Collectors Edition" Quality Without The Price Really liked this game. It has all the bells and whistles that collector edition games have like the "bonus" game at the end of the main one (it was even better than some of the collector editions I've played). Hidden Object scenes were easy and also interactive, the puzzles were average. There is a map that I wish you could have used to "jump" from place to place but it did indicate if there was something you could accomplish in any of the locations. I had lots of fun with this one, definitely worth a credit :) November 1, 2012
This is the best game I've played in a long time. I was 30 minutes into the game and I bought it and finished it. It seems a little short but it has a mini game after you finish the main one. The visual is crystal clear, and the the music is good. I did keep it low, but I could still hear it. It's a nice combo of adventure and HO. October 29, 2012
fairly average hidden object game The game is pretty much like most other hidden object games - not particulary great, not really bad either. The hidden object puzzles can all be skipped by playing a very simple "domino game". The voice acting is pretty low standard with lots of over-acting and poor delivery. Some aspects get rather annoying, fx: - an elevator, with only one button, so if f.i. you go down a level, and the want to go back up again, you have to go all the way to the bottom first, and then stop at every level on the way back up. - Several object cannot be picked up, even though you are going to need them later, until you find something else, the should be used in conjunction with - again meaning, you have to revisit rooms and locations more than should be necessary. In the end - your enjoyment of this game is dependent on your ability to ignore these annoyances. I wasn't able to do so, and found myself longing for the ending (which incidentally proved to be amazingly anti-climactic!) December 20, 2012
Underseas hooded creature !!!!! Played 20 minutes, casual - 3 modes, casual, advanced, expert - Notebook - Shortly after starting the game you get a map, which shows you where you are and places of interest - Voice overs - H0, you interact - Mini games pretty easy up to what I've played - Hint refills quickly and is useful outside H0 - You get awards for using not hints in H0 or completing a mini game with no skip - Good graphics Another fiance to rescue from a hooded man.....but this time it's underwater, adds a little bit of "salt" to the thing and there are a lot of our fishie friends swimming in the game !!! Will spend a punch card credit on the game. October 29, 2012
Captivating HOG/Adventure Nice balance of HO's, minigames and strategics.. Thankful for the map to help keep you on track. Clever game play, demo baited the hook...played it till the very end. Had to buy it after that, no questions asked. Good job, developers! October 29, 2012
There were some things that were different about this game.... which I liked, such as the option to not have to do hidden object scenes. Whenever you came across a H0 scene, you could choose whether you wanted to look for objects or play a game of dominoes. Since I do not enjoy doing H0 scenes, and prefer the puzzles and adventure aspects of games like this, having the choice to play dominoes instead of doing a H0 scene was a really nice option. I just wish they would have varied it up more since after a while I got sick of playing dominoes. This game wasn't completely overrun with H0 scenes, they were somewhat spread out (except for the bonus game, which had a lot more of them closer together), but I would have liked if there had been a choice of a few different games to play, instead of dominoes being the only option. I know I am being kind of nitpicky, and despite the fact that I got sick of playing dominoes, I was still grateful to have a choice when it came to what I wanted to do, and wish other Devs would give you a choice between doing an H0 scene or playing some other kind of game. Phantasmat is the only other game I can think of that does that (it gives you a choice between doing an H0 scene or playing Match 3) and I appreciated that choice when playing that game as well. I know that I am not the only person who plays casual games that loves the puzzle and adventure aspects of games like this, but isn't so crazy about doing H0 scenes, so I think other people beside me would appreciate if more games gave a choice. (I also bought Dark Arcana: The Carnival, which is by the same Dev that made Abyss: The Wraiths of Eden, since that game also gives you a choice between doing an H0 scene or playing a matching game instead, and I appreciate the Dev doing that in more than one game). I bought this game because it allowed me to play dominoes instead of doing H0s, and I also bought it because the story sucked me in and seemed very different from your average HOG. It kind of reminded me of the shows by J.J. Abrams that I watch such as Lost and Fringe (The Legates reminded me of the Observers from Fringe, and the people who come to live in Eden reminded me of the Dharma Initiative on Lost). Since I love those shows, it was cool to find a game that had Sci-Fi/Fantasy elements like that, and although the story started out very interesting, I felt as if it kind of fell apart as the game wore on. From about midway through to the end, it felt to me like all I was doing was running around and looking for inventory items that I needed, and that the story had taken a backseat to that. I lost interest in the game from then on, and kind of had to force myself to finish it. I played the bonus game as well, and that really seemed like something that was slapped together at the last minute since it was mostly H0 scenes. This wasn't a bad game at all, and I am glad I tried it, I just wish the story had remained as gripping as it was at the beginning throughout the game. If it had, I think I would have liked the game more. November 17, 2012
Always check reviews, never submit, so here's mine I have played many games on this site and always check the reviews. Must admit that I am bad about not submitting reviews but this one prompted me to do so. It was fun with a thrilling atmosphere and neat places to explore. It may not be as challenging to some experts but I would play it anyway. And when you think your finished, don't forget to click on "The Last Chapter." December 2, 2012
Story, graphics, music, gameplay...all excellent! TITLE?Abyss: The Wraiths of Eden VERSION?Standard Edition (full game) DEVELOPER?Artifex Mundi GENRE?Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure (supernatural adventure) STORYLINE?Your fianc Robert has gone missing on a dive in the depths of the ocean. The Coast Guard has given up hope, but you refuse to. Despite hazardous weather, you venture out on a search and rescue mission, discovering a mysterious underwater city with hints of a glorious past, a violent downfall, and a bone-chilling and supernatural series of events about to unfold. Uncover the evil enigma hiding in the depths of Eden, and rescue Robert before it's too late! GAMEPLAY?Standard point 'n' click travel, pick up items, and explore areas of interest. There are plenty of HOs and all contain interactive elements. Play is linear in nature, being that the game is quite story-driven. This one is quite well-written, in my opinion, because you're never at a loss regarding what task to accomplish next. HOs do repeat, but you're never bored because the items do not repeat. INTERFACE?Journal: Keeps your notes and lists your current objectives. Map: Shows where you are and where actions are available, but is not a jump map. However, while there is some backtracking, the game area isn't so large as to make it onerous. Hints: I didn't use any. Inventory: Not lockable. Other: Objectives appear on screen as they become available. Black bar info consists mostly of main character's reactions to events. TECHNICAL?No issues. GRAPHICS?Beautifully-rendered 3D backgrounds, characters, and objects lend realism to this adventure story despite its elements of the supernatural. Colors and textures are gorgeous and lush. One thing I've never noticed in another game: in the HOs, some of the items you collect are actually animated. CUTSCENES?Excellent 3D animation using posers for the characters. Nicely natural body movement and decent lip synching. The style of animation makes for some startling moments. MUSIC?Really added to the immersion as it was unobtrusive and soft enough to lull you into a false sense of security. Then?WHAM!?something creepy would happen and scare the life out of you. SOUND?Game sounds were eerie and out of the ordinary?well thought out. Atmospheric sounds were appropriate to each scene, and often added to the claustrophobic feeling of this all-underwater game. VOICEOVER?Quite well done?the actress evoked a concerned and brave woman, startled by certain events but not freaked out, determined to rescue her fianc regardless of what hardships and fears she had to face to do so. SUMMARY?Artifex Mundi is fast becoming a developer to reckon with. The combination of a riveting storyline, compelling music, brilliant graphics, and engaging gameplay is irresistible. You won't be disappointed at the ending either. Not only is the plot nicely tied off, but also there's a nice hint toward a sequel. I'd love to see a prequel as well?the story of how Eden developed. Great Hidden Adventure with spooky undertones! I played this game on my Asus tablet and loved it! Great graphics and scenery, interesting story and I really enjoyed the challenges. I enjoy puzzling games that challenge you to put clues together to solve a bigger whole and this game was just that. It wasn't always so clear-cut or always obvious what you had to do next and where you had to go. It made you think and re-check and use your HO skills! I loved that. But then again, it wasn't an extremely advanced/ "expert" level HOA where you constantly find yourself stuck and have absolutely no idea what to do. Wonderful game if you're looking for a slightly advanced level of a HOA. March 3, 2013
