Fun game I try to do reviews, this game just deserves to be recognized. Good story with good graphics. There was a variety of puzzles and held to the time period of the story setting. It wasfiled with big variations and it was fun! January 20, 2014
Mayan Gods and Bad Guys This is a very long game, which will please most players feeling they got their money's worth, but I found myself wondering when it would be over. There is much backing and forthing. (Why, oh, why was it necessary to find a spool of thread, then another trek to find a needle, then another trek to find scissors?) Thankfully, the map is interactive, even though you do have to guess which active area to go to next, but the game isn't linear, and at times was confusing for that reason. I really wish all developers would adopt the custom settings that are available in this game. I loved being able to have a short hint and skip refill without having sparkles everywhere. The hummingbirds didn't have any purpose at all, and once you "poof" them, their hiding places continue to flash, which I found distracting and could have done without. The ending was abrupt and not terribly satisfying, but was obviously meant to signal that there will be a sequel. A good game, but not a great one. November 6, 2013
Beautiful with an OK challenge. What beautiful screen shots! I found the rescue component of the story compelling, and personally I love all things oceangoing. Overall I'm not a fan of hidden object games which accounts for the so-so rating. There was a fair amount of going from scene to scene to get useful information and items to solve the various mysteries, and not only did this feel a bit tedious, but it triggered my anxiety about getting to the heart of the matter quickly (fodder for my next therapy session). I was drawn to play it by the other reviews, which I did for about 45 minutes. Not a bad game for the genre, and if you like hidden object games I would recommend it. January 11, 2013
sooo... who was the main character?? I seem to be few and far between in my opinion, but it was hinted throughout the game that you are playing a character who has some sort of ties to the Mayan world, yet the game never explains who you are! And why are we trying to save the souls of savage murderous pirates?? The graphics were ok, and I understand that you're on a ship, but everything had a dark dirty greenish tint to it, not very appealing at all. The cutscenes were nice, but everything else was too washed out. There are a lot, and I mean a LOT of HO scenes. Towards the end they become overwhelming and tedious, but I guess that's where the mahjong comes in. I'd rather just have less HO scenes and more puzzles. The game was long, which is usually a good thing, but for all the time I invested in it the ending was terrible. January 1, 2013
Story itself not engaging or exciting This game has a lot of reviews, so I won't wax on about it, but I found myself skipping a lot, using the map to figure out where to go way more often than I usually would (out of impatience to get through the game, not because I was stuck#, getting bored of the HOS #even with the Mahjong option, which I also found boring. Most games with alternatives have better alternatives, comparatively, like match 3 or (my fave thus far# - Pong!# I normally love these types of games #HOPA#, and maybe my expectations were too high given the stellar reviews. Gameplay was smooth, settings were eye-pleasing, and the music WAS some of the *best* I've heard in this genre. The music is part of what made me able to enjoy the tedium of the HOS #which I like in small to medium doses, but not as many as there were in this one#. But I could have loved this game if it had two things: Excitement, and a Good Storyline #which usually goes along with the Excitement factor, but sometimes is good in and of itself - take Forbidden Secrets: Alien Town for instance. I didn't expect to love it, esp because it's not my favorite setting, but I did, because it was exciting and put together well.# I just felt very little motivation in Mayan Prophecies, except maybe a slight amount towards the end. I am SO glad that I got this on sale and did not get the CE version #I still got to collect hummingbirds #just not counted#, and the Mayan calendar.# I feel really disappointed in this one. I expected to like it a lot more, but the story just did not do it for me. If you you like Mayan stuff and old pirate ships #and I love both), but you don't care about story, then get this. Or maybe just get it on a sale or with a coupon. If you want a good pirate setting AND an amazing, thought-provoking, beautiful pirate-themed game that is actually story-driven, get Nightmares from the Deep: Cursed Heart #better than its sequel, storywise, IMHO). No fun! I couldn't even get through the demo. This was so boring. The puzzles were way too easy. Absolutely no challenge. They could have gotten more challenging as the game progressed but as I said, I couldn't even make it through an hour. I tried a mahjong game instead of the HO and found that to be no challenge either. You go along picking up pairs of tiles and then when you can't make any more moves, you get to shuffle the tiles. Essentially, there is no way to fail. Keep your money. May 10, 2013
B.o.r.i.n.g. I have probably more than 100 BF games now and this is one of the worst games I have ever played! Beautiful graphics but its just all running around for the sake of running around. It certainly is NO Puppetshow! November 18, 2012
WHERE are the MAHJONG GAMES Game purchased for mahjong games. Where are they ?? Dumb find the treasure game mucks up the whole thing, there should have been something to click on to CANCEL the ship stuff and proceed to mahjong games. Game dark and could barely read lines put up at top and shadows on game board overwhelming. Says its mahjong, WELL, WHERE ARE THE MAHJONG GAMES ?? I want my money back, lastly took nearly 2 3/4 hours to download, GEEZ. January 23, 2013
