WHAT A GREAT GAME ! Excellent HOPA ! Help the princess to find her pets, who disappeared in a strange way and solve the secret of the Minotaur. Gorgeous, crisp and colorful graphics, very good sound, great cutscenes, excellent VO, outstanding locations and curious characters. Good amount of interactive HOS. Good amount too of really enjoyable mini games , and some are very cute, like "the dwarves". Is more Adventure than HOS. You have to explore lots of beautiful locations. Three play modes. Seven chapters, bonus chapter and bonus mini games. You can play HOS and puzzles again. The game is not really challenging but is extremely fun and entertaining. A great deal !! Recommended ! Too Good To Be So Short This is a review of the completed game. It is beautiful, inventive, and fun. I really liked the game-play involving animals and how they help you. So, why didn't I rate the game a five? I gave it a four for two reasons. 1. The game is way too short. I expect much more game-play from a Collector's Edition. Maybe it was because the game was so fun that I found it to be too short. I wanted it to go on for another couple of hours at least. If you're wondering, it took me about two hours to complete the game, including the bonus chapter. To me, that is way too short. 2. I can tell you right now that if you decide to wait for the standard version of this game, you will find that the game doesn't resolve the story, and you will be missing out on some of the game's most fun moments involving the animals. I don't think it is really fair to those who can't afford the price of the CE to miss out on so much. If you can deal with the short length, you will like this game. December 27, 2012
REVIEW OF COMPLETED GAME ERS has stepped everything up in this game. It is enchanting and delightful in every way - graphics, animals, story, music, iHOS (there are different types) and characters. Even though there is no wide screen (for me), no map, collectibles or achievements, it is definitely worthy of it's CE status. It is a very artistic and beautifully designed game that just stole my heart. My download was quick and the game played smoothly and easily. Everything is beautiful, even the puzzles are gorgeous to look at. The Princess's magical animals have been petnapped and she off to get them back, come what may. She meets fantastical creatures, some good, some not, but all amazing. Some help her, some she helps, some she must defeat. There are a couple of spiders and one humongous snake, unfortunantely for those with phobias. But if you can just get past them with gritted teeth, there are not any more. The main game took me 4.5 hrs and the BC 1.5 hrs. When the SE comes, the game will end conclusively, leaving it apparent that there will be a sequel. But the BC was wonderful. The Princess has a different quest and also gets to do something I was dying to do during the main game. I loved it. Thanks ERS. Excellent game. And ta to BF. December 27, 2012
AWSOME!!!! (Review of the whole game...) Played and loved the first two "Spirits of Mysteries"!! Therefore I purchased this one without playing the demo first... We are the princess, (named after the player's name!) and we have to find our 4 magical pets (a red panda, a turtoise, a nightingale and a cat) which were stolen by the evil witch and her mage Isa (which we met already in the last game). As soon as you find one of your stolen pets, they are added to your "mini-menagerie" attached to your inventory. When they are hungry and fed, they will create an useful item for you. Graphics are beautiful drawn and we meet astonishing creatures! There are 3 modes to choose and 7 chapters plus bonus-chapter to play. Lots of interactive HOS and minigames to play. The whole game isn't very challenging, but so beautiful and fun to play!! Although we have no map, no collectables and no achievments, I couldn't wait to play this one and didn't regret!! A D?ssapoinment! Amongst my favorite games are Spirit of Mysteries: Song of the Phoenix and Amber Maiden, so you can imagine how excited I was to have this one come out. Well after having completed the demo, my excitement has dwindled and once again these developers have managed to dissapointed me. The storyline has a slight disconnected theme and after a while I just could not find myself remotely interested in what was going on. Our Princess is back and you play her. Weren't we married inthe last game? Anyhow, our favorite mystical animals have been kidnapped and we must retrieve them from the wicked soceress and her sidekick, Isa the gamehunter (Didn't we get rid of them in the last game?#. Anyhow, Each animal holds special powers which we will use throughout the game #ofcorse provided we find them# Game Graphics are the usual and has become a signature for these devlopers: slightly washed out and old looking. I am sorry but when comapred to many games we have played recently, these style just seems a bit dated. The music is extremely annoying after a while and there are voice-overs. We choose from three play modes and game features inclue a journal and your menagerie of animals #once you hae located them). Gameplay is heavy on adventure and light on HO scenes. Mini-games are pleasant but not very challenging. There is alot of finding inventory items and if you have disabled the black-bar tips above, then the game does have a certain degree of challenge. While HO scenes are few, they vary at times; there are your standard "find list of items" and there is the occasional, "use items to unlock other items". The game is not bad but I am on the fence as to wether to purchase it or wait for the SE. Game play just did not blow me away and to be honest, I was rather bored after 45 mintues. I am sure that there will be many who will enjoy the adventure and these developers do have a very loyal following. I enjoy many of their games however this one just did not appeal to me as the previous ones mentionned earlier. Like I said, a dissapointment! December 27, 2012
Spirits of Mystery 3: The Dark Minotaur I played the beta of this game, so I can review it so soon. I really enjoyed the first two parts of the Spirits of Mystery series, so I knew that I will buy this game and I've done it now. The game is very magical. The storyline has some things from a fairy tale story and some creepy charakters like a dark man named Isa with his panther. The gameplay is good, but the HO's and the puzzles are very easy. That's ERS problem at the moment. All the games are very easy. But I like the interactive Hidden Object scenes. I hope there are some more in the full version. The sounds are good as in every ERS game. The music fits perfectly into the game and the sounds are good! I really like the cursers, because they look beautiful. But the difficoulty and that all ERS games are everytime very similar is why I give the game only a 4 star rating! I recommend it to everyone. Give it a try! December 27, 2012
Highly Recommended I went ahead and bought this game without a trial, based on the first reviewer's recommendation, and I'm not disappointed at all. It has a lot of good elements that keep your attention and has sufficient challenge. So far, and I've played about an hour now, the only complaint I have is the background music (?) / sound effect. I find it quite irritating. The actors' voice-overs are, however, very good. December 27, 2012
Great fun in keeping with previous Spirits of Mystery Review based on completed game in 2nd of 3 modes of play. If you liked the prior Spirits of Mystery games then most likely you will LOVE this one. The fairy tale land is creative & whimsical with stunning graphics. There are a solid smattering of interactive HOS. The mini-games are easy, but still clever, cute, and fun. Bonus play makes this one worth the CE price. The details: Storyline: The princess has her magical pets stolen by an Evil Queen planning to take over the kingdom- Yes, it's a well worn theme but the magical creatures add a bit of a twist. Journal: Yes, but reference only & infrequently Map: No, but not really needed based on the way game play flows HOS: There are plenty of them, they are interactive find list of items or silhouettes. These were well thought out and I found myself laughing a few times. Also a plus, for the most part they were not junk pile style. There were some tiny items and challenge. Mini-Games: Even for ERS, the mini-games were particularly easy; --as always, beautifully put together with some twists to keep them somewhat fresh and fun, but almost painfully easy. Hints: Great for HOS. During game play they are vague. Some games will provide arrows to navigate the gamer to the area for the next action. This game just says "look somewhere else". Once the gamer stumbles into "somewhere else" an area is highlighted but the action to take is not revealed. Music: Very pretty but also lively and lacking in variety so it became distracting, especially during HOS. By the end of the game the music was but a whisper. Characters: The magic shop keeper is well done with a husky voice that matches her appearance. The zoo keeper gone wrong is well done as is the evil Queen complete with maniacal laughter. The remaining VO for other characters were ok. Bonus play is a continuation of the story and involves bringing a previously bewitched prince together again with his princess bride. Overall, this is a well done, beautifully polished game with plenty of eye candy. However, having already played the other Spirits of Mystery, this game felt a bit formulaic and the ending was anticlimactic. Also moving forward in game play was a let down - It involved random characters providing magic powder to enable traveling between settings. Getting past the bad guys involved getting several "invisibility potions". These gimmicks became tedious. I recommend for folks who like the Spirits of Mystery series or those who like formulaic Fairy Tale themes with a good sprinkling of interactive HOS. Folks looking for some challenge in adventure or new potentially challenging mini-puzzles, would likely not enjoy playing this one. December 29, 2012
Does not Disappoint! As with the other Spirit games, this one has beautiful graphics, clear, crisp and colorful. The scenes are pretty and the music is upbeat. I have played the first 30 minutes of the demo and am buying. The storyline is different, the Princess is trying to find her stolen magic animals. Mini games I have played so far are fun, not extremely challenging but enough to make you think. Back and forth seems to be minimal which is nice sometimes also. A short review because being an animal lover I am anxious to buy and continue the adventure and save the animals! December 27, 2012
REALLY easy puzzles I found the puzzles to be really, really easy. Even on the most challenging mode. The storyline was interesting but not enough to convince to buy the whole game. Possibly a good family game, if you're going to play with the six year olds. Still, the look of the game was nice and there didn't seem to be a lot of back and forth between scenes, which is also nice. I also liked that it wasn't super dark and gothic or involving some sort of fairytale romance. In the end though I need more of a challenge to enjoy this sort of game. Definitely try out the free demo, the good points about this game may be your cup of tea. December 27, 2012
