didn't live up to other Mystery Case Files games the parts with the actress were painful, designers wasted money paying Lea T for this roll. Not a fan. I was expecting more along the lines of challenges/mini games from Ravenshurst series and was disappointed. January 1, 2013
excellent this game is great. I haven't finished the game, but so far its been very enjoyable. Nice visuals and sound quality and the use of the hidden object sceens are nice change. I would recommend this game January 1, 2013
I'm Still A MCF Nut But... So I'm liking this game a heck of a lot better than the last one (which I don't think I'll play again) but there were some downsides too... Liked - Enjoying the storyline which I feel flows...for those complaining not all of the MCF are linked - Looking for morphing objects is fun but not easy - The map is a great improvement - The live acting is better than it has been but could also improve - Your journal can help you a lot with tasks and keeping notes Don't Like - The Strategy Guide STINKS...no content and no list of morphing objects...if you want help you have to use a hint (if available) - Again no achievements...personally even if it is harder I like trying to play without using hints or the guide unless I am completely lost - The size of the font for HOS and the subs is too hard to see (as are some of the HOs)...take a tip from Flux Family and include a magnifying lens for those of us who can't see as well for one reason or another Overall I like the game and am looking forward to next year's one...still I wish they would take things back to 13 Skulls with more HOs, puzzles, and even "extras" to hunt for (in that the crowns and gold crowns - guess morphing objects work but they had those too) December 27, 2012
A bit of a disappointment I was really looking forward to this game but ended up feeling very letdown after finishing it. Some excellent ideas on making a different kind of game but many ended up just being frustrating in the extreme. I played the demo and enjoyed it but after hours of repetition, some of the excitement wore off and just became annoying. If it win;t broke, don't fix it and previous MCF games were great the way they were. I appreciate innovation but not when it destroys what was already working well. The game is very beautiful and has good sound but overall was a disappointment. December 24, 2012
shadow lake review some spooky scary moments!!!!! December 23, 2012
Where'd Mystery Case Files Go? Just doesn't match up to previous MCF games. The storyline was not fleshed out much, and the HO scenes were too simple. December 22, 2012
It was good. First off, I'm not really a huge fan of the MCF. I believe I've only bought two or three and one was completely disgusted by. This game however had pretty realistic artwork. The acting was okay. I know this is a PC game but it is still a job so act least take the acting a little more seriously. The way they did the HOS was pretty interesting and I enjoyed it. The level of challenge was okay. I did love the storyline. It didn't leave the player wanting more depth or detail. I loved the map, but I wish the map locations were more separate or outlined so you know which is which. Overall I enjoyed it! December 20, 2012
I expected more... I love MCF but was a bit disappointed with this game. I guess when you put it up against the average game on Big Fish it is good but compared to the other MCF games it pales in comparison. I found the acting terrible except the ghost patrol people who I thought were pretty good. I wished they had been a bigger part in the game. I loved the map set up. The scenes and game play were pretty good. Tho the graphics seemed not as good as the other MCF games. I found the story line a bit odd and the ending was very ...blah. I would get it again becuase over all compared to some of the other games on Big Fish it was okay but a let down from MCF's high bar. December 19, 2012
Not the greatest of MCF but still good HOG MCF 13th Skull and Escape from Ravenhearst are big failure for me but at least this time MCF is back. Overall Shadow Lake is one of most enjoyable game, very well made HOG like we always expected from MCF. The life acting was brilliant,a map to use, subtle scares here and there and easy game play. The only things that disappoint me was Lea Thompson over-excited tones which getting annoying as you progress through out the game, story was short and predictable (with silly ending) and no more brilliant puzzles like you see on Madame Fate and previous Ravenhearst series. In my opinion MCF still stand out from other HOG in delivering great fun towards fans of all ages. But will they ever going back to the high standard of HOG they used to be? I highly doubt that,Dire Grove is the end for me.Still I would highly recommend MCF Shadow Lake to all players out there. MCF are very different from others so please try it! December 19, 2012
