Botanica: Into the Unknown
Great fun, unique gameplay, good value
This review is based on the one hour collectors version demo and the entire regular game. Played for the first time on Easy level.
I loved this game. Beautiful graphics and sound, great characters and story line and some truly unique features and puzzles!
I very rarely buy collectors additions . I have maybe bought 2 in the last 4 years or so but if you have the extra money, get the collectors version. I may one day purchase it even though I already own the game! If you live in the UK, games are taxed at a higher rate and it does discourage me from buying some games, and in this case, the FAR better collectors version.
This is a good adventure game. A few HOG scenes, but challenging and fun. Almost all of the puzzles were things I had never seen before, or dramatically different and improved versions of standard puzzles.
Voice-overs were good, realistic and well done. You could read and accelerate the cut scenes or skip them, but there would never be a need to in this game.
I almost never listen to the music with games, but I had it on low volume and enjoyed it.
The only very minor complaint that I had was that a small number of the puzzles gave you no real idea of what they wanted you to do, and even on easy level the hints were non-existent. Maybe they were just so simple that I was over thinking?
This game has good replay value, and I am sure the collectors version has great replay value.
Give this game a try!

Absolutely beautiful and worthwhile
This is an amazingly beautiful game! The best graphics and colors I have seen lately. Only sorry I didn't get the collector's edition to have the strategy guide but hints are plentiful, challenge is very good and I have no complaints whatsoever. Would have given everything excellent but I am spoiled by the interactive maps recent games have supplied and wish the regular edition of this had one.

Very Relaxing Game
Enjoyed all segments of this game. The 'critters' were very interesting and the story, HOG's and mini games were fun. The graphics were beautiful. Hope we don't have to wait too long for Botanica II.

More than your average HOG
This is an puzzle adventure with hidden object scenes. Even they are not straight forward, many items need constructing or modifying before you can collect them, others are hidden behind doors (often with handles to be found first!) or other items. Over all a thoroughly enjoyable game.

Rocky relationship beginnings...
Boomzap and I had a bit of a rough beginning to our relationship in the form of me playing the first two Awakening games and feeling like my intelligence was being insulted because of the ease of the puzzles. I also wasn't hooked by Awakening's storyline. When I saw the new Botanica: Earthbound ads recently, I was intrigued and looked into getting it, at which point I realized it was a continuation of the previous game (this one#. Then I saw it was Boomzap, and I hesitated. Everyone else seems to love Boomzap, and by all rights I should too because they are more puzzle-heavy and less HOS-heavy - just my style! But I also crave at least some challenge and an engaging storyline, which my previous exposures to this developer did not deliver #for me#. But, as you can tell by my rating, Botanica changed my mind!
This was a refreshingly fun game with awesome music, challenging but totally doable puzzles and HOS #and btw, yes the instructions weren't in your face, but a quick click on the "eye" would give you instructions, at least in the middle hardness level...yes, some of them took some thought, but they were all logical, never random!# I loved the botany kit. This never felt too science-heavy, just fun science-y. Graphics were beaut *except* for the characters. I agree that they were way too cartoonish - particularly the main character #the others were just okay#, but even that didn't detract from it enough to drop my rating because of the good story and creative, engaging gameplay. I thought the events that a couple of people called childish to be really creative and quirky, for the fun-loving in all of us. This is coming from someone who felt that Awakening felt pretty childish. #Sorry for all the comparisons, but it can be a bit unhelpful for me to see everyone saying that this is great "just like all of the others from this developer" when it's a developer I have had mixed experiences with. Obviously that's my personal bent, but I like hearing from people who were unexpectedly won over by a game, too, which is why I'm writing this. :# #
Try the trial. I did, and it was good enough to buy, and I only became more grateful of the decision as I continued, partly because the puzzles increased somewhat in challenge level #in a good way#. Now I'm just trying to force myself to wait at least a few days before getting the next Botanica #this time, I'll probably get the CE!#

Loved, loved, loved it!!!!
Everything about this game is great!!!!
The GRAPHICS: Absolutely beautiful!
STORYLINE: exciting, completely different!!
PUZZLES: Excellent, not the usual!
HOs: different, and a variety of them. Clear, clean; do not have to strain your eyes
VOs: Very good.
There is an extensive journal with lots of info.
Good Map, but not interactive.
Different modes of difficulty; I always do 'Hardcore'.
No collectibles or achievements, which does not bother me!
Good game length, as well.
Of course, there will be a sequel!!
I LOVE BOOMZAP!!!!

This was a spectacular game! I LOVED the giant dragon flies and the scenery was beautiful--the animals and plants, everything. I loved many of the games. I would have preferred more HOs than puzzles. Some of the puzzles were too difficult for me to spend time trying to figure out so I skipped them. Had a lot of difficulty at the end with the tiles and the colors but finally figured it out with help of the walkthrough and forum. I highly recommend this game. It is truly beautiful and fun!

Gorgeous graphics, not stressful, but challenging Adventure Game
This is my all time favorite! I get tired of the scary story lines and sometimes want something different. This is a challenging mystery that keeps you engaged -it's tricky but not super hard,
which is nice sometimes. This game makes you think without stressing you too much.Did I say the scenery is like a fantasy movie! PLEASE make more like this one!!!????

Alternate Planes of Existence
This game has fantastic graphics, an interesting plot line, and three possible levels of play. In the easy one the hint fills in very quickly and guides you exactly to what your next step is if you get lost. The game keeps you wondering about the queen and her intentions, and hoping that the main character will find her father and lead all the good guys home safely.
