Not Dire Grove but most enjoyable This is my first review although I have played many a Big Fish Game but felt that I needed to put forward my view to this game as I very nearly didn't buy it due to the reviews it has received and then only bought it due to a sale. Please bear in mind I'm not a great lover of a HO packed games and prefer very few with more puzzles and adventure and I really enjoyed this game. I enjoyed the storyline and graphics and thought the puzzles and hidden drawings were different and sometimes quite challenging. Shadow Lake may not be in quite the same league as Dire Grove or Ravenhurst but definitely worth trialing if you are like me and do not like being bombarded with HOs. As with both the previous mentioned games I am looking forward to replaying this one again. January 5, 2013
Don't judge by low rating. It just a Great game worthy of MCF The same reason Escape from Ravenhearst got low rating.....everybody complains that the game is as hard as it could be but at the ,,Level of Challenge" they gave it 2 stars. Now this was a real game that was really challenging. I can't believe that I almost didn't play these 2 game because of the low rating......the last time I take into account the rating that people give to these games. Shadow Lake is just great. The low rating is because you don't have to blindly go in one direction to finish the game. The fact that you must walk all over the map to get items and use them make is more complicated and you get the feeling of non-linearity. It's nice to see such a lot of effort put by the BEST HOS game-making team out there. The story is well put together and also the music/sounds puts you in the creepy atmosphere of the places. For me its just one of the best games I've played lately. I gave it 4 stars because I gave Escape from Ravenhearst 5 stars and this one isn'g as good but still...... January 7, 2013
MC One of the best games I have played so far. While most games are "more of the same" this one is original, different and very entertaining. Superb graphics and sound. January 8, 2013
Loved this Game! I really don't know what these bad reviews are all about. How can you go wrong with Marty McFly's mom? I thought the story line was really fun and spooky. There were a few moments during the game that actually scared me! The puzzles were hard but not too hard that you couldn't figure it out after a few tries. Overall, very original for an awesome hidden object game. Enjoy! January 13, 2013
disappointing Between the hammy acting and the constant going back and forth, the game is a waste of time. I'm glad I tried it out before wasting my money. Lackluster, boring.. there aren't enough negatives to describe it. December 26, 2012
EVEN LIVE ACTORS COULDN'T SAVE THIS GAME Seeing the live actors was my cup of tea until I played this game for about one hour, actual game, not trial version. IHOS were a tad unusual. This business of putting things back the way they were back in 19 whatever was tedious. Junk piles all over the place. I enjoy stories about the supernatural but this game did not hold my interest. I'm off to play another game. January 9, 2013
shadow lake I was totally disappointed with this mystery case file. Don't see how this was the game of the year. Wasn't at all challenging as the rest of the mystery case file games. January 5, 2013
what a letdown I felt compelled to submit a review in the hopes that collectively we can get a message to the developer. This game was so far below par compared to the other MCF games that I kept checking to see if it had been farmed out to another company! It didn't even have the same "feel" as previous games. And, sorry Lea Thompson, but your acting was abysmal. It was completely devoid of practically all the little touches that make MCF games exceptional and special. I look forward to the new MCF game each November more than I look forward to the Thanksgiving feast (and that's saying something). This was like discovering that all we're getting for dinner is tofurkey. Didn't like the offerings? Better luck next Thanksgiving! BigFish, please no more experimental recipes! Your track record with MCF games has heretofore left everyone else in the dust; we crave your games like salivating zombies, which is why we spend all year trying to fill the void by playing copycats, wannabes and hopefuls. Some are much better than others, some are even serious contenders - but none measure up to MCF. Until now, that is. Game of the Year?!? Surely you jest. January 2, 2013
What Happened to MCF? I read the reviews when the game first came out and decided not to buy. However, when the $4.99 special came I went ahead and took a chance - how bad could MCF be? Sorry I wasted even $4.99 on this game. Not fun at all. The puzzles after bringing her the drawings were tedious and boring. Please don't waste your money on this game. January 1, 2013
Story line very confusing Hard to follow. Strategy guide was not useful at all. The floating pictures to piece together were hard to assemble. The 'psychic' who 'revealed' the clues was so poorly acted. January 1, 2013
