Disappointing MCF I love MCF, so I was really looking forward to this game. They must have gotten some new people behind the franchise, because this one fell very, very short of the high standards they once had for themselves. This game is, in a word: repetitive. The puzzles are extremely easy, and you keep having to find the same objects over and over in the HO scenes. The acting in these things is always pretty bad (and sometimes even that can be fun), but it is unbearably awful in this one. The only improvements made between this and the last ones is that it is easier to jump from location to location using the map and the adventure log is very detailed. I think I'll look elsewhere for a reliably creative, challenging HO games. December 27, 2012
I feel ripped off I bought this game without trying it, just because Mystery Case Files have been some of my favorite games. Don't know that I will even finish this one. The back and forth, and remote directions from the psychic are a really clumsy effort at plot development. Locations of puzzles are predictable and the whole game becomes redundant sequences at each location. I certainly will play the demo next time a MCF game comes out. December 27, 2012
toatlly boring waste of time and money, storyline boring. have to go back to psychic too often, short game. Mystery Case Files used to do great stuff..been waiting for their new games..very disappointed December 27, 2012
Least favorite of MCF games Lost interest early on, hated having to go back to motel and meet psychic constantly, and very cheesy story line. Puzzles and hidden objects were mediocre. Overall, I was bored and had to force myself to play whole game. December 26, 2012
runed a good file After reading all the bad reports I see they are all correct. After loving the first one you would have thought they could have done it again. NOPE. I did not even get a full screen to see stuff. Just a lot of going all over the place for no good reason and not much for HOS. Just a bad game. May 10, 2013
Disappointing, but a good game for a beginner. Shadow Lake was "OK" but not up to MCF standards. Would be a game for a beginner as for the most part it is not very challenging. I got it for a bargain of $3.49 and it was worth that much, but not much more. I did enjoy the graphics, but Lea Thompson's "performance" was very amateur and frankly annoying. I didn't like the overly simplistic method of travel by way of the map. Would have helped if the different locations were connected. I didn't hate it, but it wasn't worth more than I paid for it. I would only recommend this game for a beginner!! February 14, 2013
Why all the Thumbs Down for this Game? I am in the minority as I loved this game and think it is the best MCF yet. It has a lot going for it. The graphics are first class as is the acting much better than other more popular developers. The game play is challenging and I loved the story. The puzzles are different from any game I have played and if I have a complaint it is that some of the objects were very small and hard to find. January 13, 2013
Excellent just like all MCF i was shy to try this because of the reviews... so glad i did not listen.. tried it & bought it right away. The game is great and advanced ... one thing i really love and appreciate of the MCF series is that it always strives for excellence and fluid game play ... things change from game to game but they keep it interesting always... i love the fact that the hidden objects can be in several places almost like 13th skull .... this game is great ... relax, dont expect ...& enjoy! thank u BFG!!!! 5 stars January 10, 2013
GAME OF THE YEAR?? I realize that big fish will not post this, but possibly you will think about this for future promotions. Today is Dec 30 2012......and you are offering a promotion of $4.99 on award winning games. Mystery Case Files - Shadow Lake was named by you as GAME OF THE YEAR! Please explain how this game could be GOTY when the overall ratings by those who have played it is only TWO STARS??? Nothing makes sense about your rating system of games. Just like all other advertising, it's really not worth the effort. Just let your gamers figure it out and play what appeals to them. I have never agreed once with your suggestions for great exciting games, yet I've purchased a small collection of some of the better games on my own. December 30, 2012
Pass on this one Not up to MCF standards. Lea Thompson seems angry/annoyed that she is in the game. Sorry to say, pass. It fails on many levels. December 26, 2012
