TOP-NOTCH ADVENTURE HOS A challenging and unique adventure game with an interesting story. You see a huge tentacled creature is not only pursuing one of the missing archaeologists in an abandoned town, but it is everywhere and putting up obstacles to block your way every chance it gets. Lots of places to visit, things to do, and challenging puzzles. Interactive map and a journal Mini-games are unique, fun and moderately challenging. Interactive HOS are large, clearly defined and not too cluttered (always important). Great graphics; you can adjust the ambient sound. Dialogue is written; nice sounding narrator; music apropos. I would have liked a little more of a challenge in figuring out what to do next. It seemed pretty clearcut on where you had to go and what you had to do next. Still, it is a funtastic game. A must-buy. November 30, 2012
Worth the money Not hard I played part of the demo and bought it. The graphics are really good and has voice over. Music not bad. Has good flow and has a map showing you where you are and what is needed next. The hint button only tells you that nothing to do here. Looks like a good game and story line. HOS you need to look hard at times puzzles can be challenging but ok. Give it a try. December 1, 2012
Excellent Adventure!!! I completed the demo and found it to be great!! The story is about finding missing archeologists and also dealing with a mythical sea creature. The HOS were clear and not so hard to find that you get annoyed. The grafics and sound was great with an interesting storyline. If you like stories of Poseidon and mythology then this is the game for you. The mini games were ok and not so difficult that you throw in the towel. Very exciting game. Try it... you will not be disappointed. Have to purchase now. Happy gaming fishies!!!!! November 30, 2012
Some flaws but I loved it Great artwork, HOS that I didn't need to squint for. And there aren't too many of them to impede the flow of the game. Superb interactive maps. The story was all over the place but somehow manages to work despite itself. Transitions between chapters could be smoother. Everything you find to help you progress is called a tool ... whether it is or not. But, bottom line for me is that, no matter how many nits I could pick, this is still one of my favorite games of the year. I'll seek out other titles from this developer. Highly recommended. I really enjoyed this game! this game had me at the first puzzle. A lot of the puzzles and mini games were quite unique. the HOs were top notch. the map was great but to be honest I didn't really need to use it till towards the end of the game, I didn't really consider it a lot of backtracking, just enough. but the map was great at reminding you of where something was. big plus the game had COLOR! [very tired of games that are all gray ] . only had 1 problem in chapter 3 I lost the indicator arrow for the rest of the chapter- very wicked game playing lol ,so unfortunately I had to skip 2 games cuz u had to click on things specifically and quickly and I could'nt blindly find them that quick. I will definitely try again may have to reinstall. point is I liked the game so much that even that didn't deter me! now I'm wondering if I might've missed a good CE I marked 4stars but meaning 4.5 adding morphing objects would've rated 5stars December 2, 2012
Great story with great graphics! I love this game! The storyline is great, a real HOPA game! There are 3 game modes; I played in Advanced mode, which has no sparkes. - The graphics are gorgeous, clear! - There is just the good amount of HOS. They are interactive and not cluttered. - The puzzles are quite easy, but really interesting. - You have a journal, which is useful, and also an interactive map: no need to walk... just jump to the location! - The objectives are so clear, that I didn't have to use the hint system. Ok... the game is not long, about 2 1/2 hours without skipping anything, but there are many things to do and I enjoyed every minute! December 1, 2012
This is a great game! I liked just about everything about this game. I thought the storyline was interesting and the games were mostly easy and entertaining. I loved the graphics! It's also long enough that I didn't mind not getting the collector's edition. I had a free game token that I needed to use, otherwise, I would have splurged. December 1, 2012
Very good mostly adventure HOPA. (21 puzzles and only 11 HOS) I finished the CE which was worth it (see that review for bonus info etc). I gave the first mystery of the ancients 2 stars as it was a bit below average, here it's very different and is a vast improvement. This is a very good HOPA. It?s more adventure with some puzzles (22 puzzles and only 11 HOS) which is my type of game. The plot was good but a bit abrupt at the end. I wished it was fleshed out a bit more throughout the game, but after playing bonus, none of the main characters were in the bonus so that aspect doesn?t change. I just thought it was a good plot so would have liked more of it. It isn?t in the demo but there is dark ?spirit? in this game, so it has dark elements to it but not as dark as the first game in this series. I'd have preferred it if it didn't have that as thought the other side of the the plot - the professors was more interesting and would have loved that side of it explored more. The graphics are good (although that kind isn?t my personal favourite). This game has a lot of variety of areas which is great and it also has a very good transporter map with hints in it. There are three modes of play which is explained but note hardcore has no skip or hint button, so if you just don?t want sparkles you can choose ?advanced? the middle option as you can?t change your option once you start. 22 PUZZLES (roughly I think I?m out by a couple, I class a puzzle if it has a skip button) Thank you devs! A wide variety of hardness but mostly in the medium and medium/hard for a HOPA. LOVED the puzzles. There is also a wide variety of types of puzzles, from logical to arcade and even one hard (for me) timed puzzle. I loved the puzzles, it made the game for me. There were some old ones but it was mixed in with some types that aren?t that common. I thought it was a perfect hardness, easy enough not to be frustrated but not so easy as to become boring. I played advanced for a change instead of hardcore (as I like the option of the skip or hint button even if I rarely use it in any games) and with that timed puzzle was glad I did but did manage to do it. 11 HOS Another reason why I enjoyed this game so much ? no repeating of any scenes! YES ? thank you! Due to the type of game graphics I thought they were clear enough and not that many junk pile, mostly cluttered. Interactive, all list type. TIME 4HRS 45MINS (no hints except map hints and no skipping. I was on one puzzle for AGES.) January 9, 2013
Irresponsible Archaeological Dig Threatens World Again BASED ON COMPLETED GAME Story: You travel to the remote island town of Black Water, to investigate the mysterious disappearance of two archaeologists. There you encounter a terrifying monster straight from the ancient myths of Poseidon. What cursed secrets have these archaeologists unearthed beneath the town? Developer: Mariaglorum Release Date: Dec 2012 Extras: Interactive Jump Map, Game Timer This is a much more sophisticated sequel to Lockwood Manor ? it feels more lively and active. The story started off familiar, then took a couple of interesting turns. It was paced very well and there was plenty of background on the myths if you wanted it. The graphics are well done, particularly the cutscenes. The monsters really are monstrous. There is fun animation and colour in the interactive HOs, making them more appealing. The puzzles are more difficult than the first game, making it a bit more challenging for those who like that. Me, I skipped a lot. I?m hopeless at puzzles. Hint and skip are very quick. Hint is useless outside of HOs, just the usual ?There?s nothing to do here?. The interactive jump map was excellent, acting as a good substitute for the hint button. And the game timer is a great addition. This is a solid game. February 22, 2013
Mystery of the Ancients haven't had to skip or hint yet! I have not completed The game yet, I just hit Chap 4. So far very beautiful artwork and the game has humor i.e." I have not had a tetanus shot when you come across a rusty nail." I am sure the EXPERT gamers may say this is too easy because you do not have to wander for miles and most objects found can be used fairly quickly and you can teleport using the map if needed . I love that feature but since this game is so beautiful, I actually prefer to walk instead and enjoy the scenery and the locations are close enough to enjoy doing that. Rare in most of these games. I just sit and look at the HO scenes in awe of the detail. clear, not too many too find to keep the game flowing. So I rate 5 for challenege because for me I prefer not to pull out my hair or have to stop the story for every single mini game or puzzle and sit in frustration I dont like to skip but most always do because I don't want to stop my mission to hurt my brain. I prefer simple quick fun puzzles that can be done in 5 minutes. I cannot comment on the length but to me even if a game is only 3-4 hours it is worth full price if it is re-playable and it is the highest quality. I tend to get bored of games that are too long I forget what was going on if I don't get back to them for a week. This developer did not look familiar to me I clicked on the games tab and only see 2 others Mystery of the Ancients Lockwood Manor and Kate Arrow Desserted Wood. I pulled up the reviews and bought them straight away just now without even trying the demo. I hope they are as great as this! Happy Gaming people! Now back to this great game to save someone who doesn't deserve it. # you have to play to know what that means LOL#!I have only done 1 other review I hope you find this helpful. Loved it so muchI had to do one! December 2, 2012
