Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!! If you like games by E.R.S and enjoy the Alpine scenes, snow blizzards and ice sculptures, then you'll probably love this game. The bunny -eared developer bought the Phantasmat licence from the previous game studio and stamped their own, by now well known to most of us, format all over it. Once you have played a number of E.R.S games you'll know what to expect next time. The ending of the main game gave a good clue that there will be a sequel to this one. Unless they seriously begin stepping up their efforts to include a teleport map, achievements, collectibles and the like I'd say don't bother. The game isn't bad. I enjoyed parts of it, but the puzzles are so easy that I didn't feel challenged and found myself thinking: "It surely can't be that simple!" It was. The music is the same old, same old on a loop, the H0S become more of a junkpile as time goes on and the very odd accents are beginning to irritate in these games. Whilst the game has no permanently available map, there are 2 or 3 location maps pinned to walls in different scenes. The Task/Objective button is a nice touch, as is being able to see the percentage of game completed. I counted 17 H0S and 16 Puzzles in the main game and 6 H0S and 5 Puzzles in the bonus. If you love the bunny developer, then I'd still say you'll enjoy it. December 8, 2012
Good but not exceptional I think I will be waiting for the SE as there are no collectables or other extras that are, to me, worth the CE price. I thought the game was fairly good and the story is interesting; the only thing I found irritating was the interruptions for dialogues (they are way too frequent)...you think you have found the thing you need but before you can go anywhere, an apparition butts in and blathers on at you. There is no map and, so far, a fair amount of back and forthing. Sometimes the cursor changes to a question mark, but nothing happens, not sure the point of this. The hint button produces a straight forward direction as to what to do next and it does recharge quickly. The graphics are excellent and the actors voices are good, although too frequent, as I have mentioned. The mini games are fairly easy but colorful and nice to look at. You can switch between match 3 and HO if you want. I tried both but disliked the M3 as it didn't run fast enough. Overall a good game but not up to CE standards, especially from these devs, who are normally my favourites. December 6, 2012
Big Disappointment! I was really happy to see a sequel to the first Phantasmat, as I loved that game. This one, however, is boring and glitchy, visually uninspired and slow. I quit halfway through the demo, unwilling to continue slogging through the non-existant storyline and impossibly silly tasks. I particularly enjoyed sliding down an icy rope carrying a mug of boiling water! Really? Where the first Phantasmat was gripping and drew you into the story from the very beginning, this one makes you almost wish the avalanche had buried you for good, to save you the trouble of trying to make it through the rest of the game. The story is superficial and lazy, clearly not interesting even to the creators. Very sad, as I had great hopes that this game would break the recent string of mundane HO game offerings. Unfortunately, there is nothing here to inspire anyone. Like the latest MCF game, this is a boring loser. December 6, 2012
Not a Typical Roll Down a Mountain When I started this game I figured it would be the typical 'survival' game. Hit by an avalanche, find stuff to survive. Seemed that way at first. Quickly it became a mystery story. How? Play it yourself. :# After less than half the hour demo I bought it. The SG is very good, the Hints even tell you how long until it's recharged, same with the skip button. I play games on casual. I really don't like points, this hasn't any #so far, gee I hope they don't come later#. I'm playing only for myself. I'm enough competition for me. The snow even crunches. How come games set in snow come out in winter? Would be great in August. ;P December 6, 2012
Another boring Ers game I was disappointed to see that Codeminion is out of the picture. They produced a great game that was fun to play more than once, one with original elements. This is more than can be said for Ers studio, that uses the exact same formula for every single game. "You've found a wad of gum and a wrench, these will be useful." They lead you by the nose through their illogical puzzles and stupid tasks. December 7, 2012
GOOD BASIC HOG What I liked: Great looking graphics. Ability to magnify scenes. Sound level of voice overs could be selected. Task list. Can play mini-games and HOS after completing the game. Change between casual, advanced and hard modes during play. What Could be Better: Story is basically good but could have been more cohesive - why would a resort not let you stay after an avalanche and instead send you on your way into the treacherous mountains. Wouldn't they would be snowed in? Gameplay could have flowed a little better - not always sure what direction to take. December 6, 2012
Great Game I really like the download version.Excellent visuals and sound.Just want to keep on playing.I will purchase ce version.Three different game modes to choose at anytime during game play December 6, 2012
Too short yet excellent graphics and story I feel this was a fantastic story line along with graphic and thrill factor. However, before I knew it, it was over. Too short a game, not enough scenes, too short again. Even the extra chapter was so disappointing. This would have been a perfect game if it had some achievements and longer story line. They finally got the story right and graphic were great but what a shame that it was so short. I literally completed the game in four or five hours. Sad so sad.' I can not honestly recommend this game due to the above comments. Not worth the money. December 12, 2012
Best game for the season!!! If you're looking for a true winter landscape and experience, then "Phantasmat: Crucible Peak" delivers on that promise. I only wish more developers understood how to utilize the theme of winter the way in which ERS did in this game. I did play the previous ?Phantasmat? and enjoyed that one. But I also liked what ERS did with ?Crucible Peak.? The overall concept from the first game is the same. But I prefer the winter setting of the new game because the haunted house theme has been done so many times. I think overall, ERS was the right developer to take over this series. The new characters are on point. I think ERS always has the most entertaining characters. My only gripe, perhaps, is that you didn?t get to explore enough of this intriguing wintery landscape. It is the perfect setting for bizarre happenings, but it was underutilized in this situation. One reason, the game is shorter than most of their others. I wish ERS has focused on this game a bit more than some of their other regulars. I?d like to see them do another game with a winter setting, but make it longer and more detailed. ERS? signature odd and quirky characters fit in well with the ?Phantasmat? theme and showcased some of their true potential?as well as the graphics. I liked the bright white that was offset by the colorful hidden object scenes, interiors, and puzzles. It was a nice contrast. Ironically, perhaps their only mistake was labeling the game as another ?Phantasmat,? even though I didn?t mind. I might have liked this one better than the original because of the winter atmosphere. But the title unfortunately invites comparisons. For me, this might have been an improvement over the original. If you judge the game on it?s on merits, then I think it?s good. I just wish it had been longer. But if you?re en ERS fan, then I would at least try the demo. December 11, 2012
DISAPPOINTED After playing the Demo I was actually disappointed..as I thought this game compared to the first one (which I bought) did'nt stand up to be a CE...and I will not buy this one...the visuals were good and the vo's were on the spot but thats where it ended for me..I do'nt see ER trying to compete with other games like Elephant does to keep up with what the pple want in their games..although parts of the game were good..most were not..I did not enjoy this one..I do not recommend this game December 8, 2012
