The definition of average This is a mediocre game in all the areas tha matter. That means it's not that great, but it's not that bad either. It's not particular fun to play, since the puzzles are not challenging and the hidden object scenes not special in any way. The visual quality and sound are acceptable, if boring and run-of-the-mill. The story lines is what got to me: how many times can game developers serve yet another "bad demon/specter/sorcerer/mad scientist kills every inhabitant of a town and you get to chase him through deserted *insert creepy place here*"? Needless to say, the story is boring and nothing you haven't heard before. All in all, alright for beginners that haven't played many games in the genre. December 12, 2012
I didnt feel this game I find this game very boring. . Try before buy- December 10, 2012
Charles Dexter Ward is back! Great storyline: Ward revived a distant relative who turns out to be a soul stealer. You, as the detective, are sent to save the town on Patuxent Island and destroy the revenant murderer. Good characters with VOS HOS, interactive Magical eye for inventory items Good puzzles, medium skip Nice music and atmospheric sound effects Regular game: 4.5 hours casual, bonus chapter 1 hour Enjoy! Not exceptioinal, but a very nice game! Very nice graphics and game play. Liked the music (unusual for me). HOGs were fun and a bit different for a change. Nice hint system with quick recovery. Nice voice overs (always a plus for me...brings a game to life). I did find CD Ward a bit of a dork and very nerdy looking, but it works. SG had a lot of holes, e.g. put this item there and go do this. It didn't say where to go to do this, just do it. You actually had to look at the pictures in the SG to see where you were suppose to go. Other than that, it was okay. Games were very easy, and didn't take much thought to accomplish so far. This is a simple game and easy to figure out what you need to do with a particular item (especially if you explore a scene before you leave it like I do#. All that being said, I did enjoy the game, even though there was a lot of running back and forth for only one item most of the time. I am going to purchase today and see what happens #again, a no brainer, but I like it well enough to buy it). As always, try the game for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for it at all. Thanks for the reviews. December 9, 2012
BORING DEMO SAME OLD SAME OLE. HOS PUZZLES NOTHING NEW. NO COLECTABLES NO FUN.WILL NOT BUY THIS, MAYBE STANDARD December 9, 2012
very very good the HOs were excellent, not a pile of junk. Game worked very smoothly as well. I dont like super creepy but this one was not grim and icky like a few iI have played.. was sad when trial ran out, will probably buy! December 9, 2012
Definately a buy I don't comment often but this one caught my interest from the start, only played for 15 minutes before buying. Great new addition to collector editions - downloadable book content. Graphics are good, voice content that is able to be continued quickly - everything I look for in a game. Thanks BFG for the extra content of a book to download. December 9, 2012
Very dull! Only played 10 minutes of the demo then deleted. I found the grapics quite dark and dull and the scenery therefore quite depressing. The cursor was not responsive in places which started to annoy me. I guess we have come to expect crisp, clear exciting games and this isn't like that at all, so all in all boring.....sorry. A very spooky game I liked this game very much. The graphics and sound are great. I did not have to use the hint button very much. It is a hidden object game, but it is not one right after the other. This is a good game to play at night. I would recommend this game. December 10, 2012
Dark Mysteries: The Soul Keeper This review is based on the Demo and I find that it is a fun game. The graphics where Excellent and the Story draws you in to game. The voice overs where excellent. The challenge of the game was not very hard. All in All its a fun game to play. I happen to like H.P. Lovecraft stories so based on this I would recommend the game. December 9, 2012
