Beautiful game!
Graphics are stunning. HO games are very interactive. I like having to figure out where each object must go as opposed to just finding an object. Very different from most other HO games in that respect. I was hooked after only 15 minutes into the game. Definitely worth buying!

Cinderella with a tongue-in-cheek twist
When you see a game by this developer, Elephant Games, you can generally expect excellence. This game is no exception. It reminds you of The Nutcracker, which is also one of theirs.
The game starts out with you being summoned by the prince to find the girl who has totally stolen his heart and disappeared. After that comes the twist. It seems that our heroine, Isabella, has left the ball in a hurry because her father has been changed into a beast, and she, of course, has to help him out.
This game is delightful entertainment, with crisp graphics, interesting puzzles, including a match 3. A map is included for easy navigation; a camera takes pictures of bad guys and gives you a clue as how to deal with them.
When I saw the two star rating, I assumed that I wouldn't like this game, but I always try games to form my own opinion. I'm so glad I did, or I would have missed a delightful game. I highly recommend it!

BASED ON COMPLETED GAME HARDCORE MODE (3rd of 3)
This little gem turned out to be a wonderful palette cleanser, ridding me of the rotten feeling from a much-hyped sequel that undelivered in just about every category.
"Detective Quest: The Crystal Slipper" was a wonderful tonic! Elephant Games delivers a beautifully constructed, fun, whimsical, and original kingdom complete with excellent graphics, unique and memorable creatures and scenery, gorgeous and highly interactive HOS and many clever, well packaged, if easy mini-games.
GAME STRUCTURE:
STORYLINE-Clean and strong to end of bonus play. Use of creative twists and turns kept all activities focused on the mission. Game play did not feel formulaic or become tedious and there was a good balance of iHOS, Mini-Game, and Adventure through the end of bonus play.
MAP-Yes, Excellent. Showed objectives for each area, gamer location, allowed jumping to locations. (THANKS!-Without this feature the schlepping back and forth and forth and back would have resulted in a very different gaming experirence.)
JOURNAL-No. Not needed. For potions and other directions given or available as needed.
VO/Music: Not the best voices overs but not bad. Music was fine. Non-intrusive but also not-memorable. Sound effects pretty good.
HINTS-Not available in hardcore mode. I did reference the strategy guide a couple of times. In hard core mode there were still some black bar hints that I would have been happy to do without.
STRATEGY GUIDE: Yes. It was useful and well done.
iHOS: OUTSTANDING. BEST EVER. I have not encountered this type before so maybe this is old news and a yawn for everyone else.
For me this is a new type and a great find. For each iHOS, a list of objects was shown at the bottom of the screen. The gamer had to place each of the objects where it should go in the scene provided. The scene was a little junk pile style or sometimes had a theme.
What a blast! Figuring out where the item should be applied at times was a puzzle in itself. There was always some follow up action when an item was properly placed so this brought a lot of laughs.
Example of an easy one: The list at screen bottom has a cannon ball. Find the cannon, put the ball in and the cannon shoots which then blows something up and reveals more of the scene. More like this please.
----------DONE
MINI-GAMES: Good balance with iHOS. These had some variety in difficulty from easy to a little challenge (no head breakers). Some I had seen before and some were new to me. I found all to be beautiful and fun to play. Examples: Mahjong, Piece together the portrait, put together family tree, electrical connections, and then, again, some new ones.....
ADVENTURE: There was more than is typical. Several times, I had to retrace steps for missing item. -That's ok, I love the adventure part, although, please, can't I keep the crow bar and the hammer for more than a single use? :)
I absolutely loved this game and am really hoping these new styles of iHOS catch on. Normally I prefer puzzles to anything else, but this type of iHOS was a puzzle in and of itself. The entire game was very interactive.
I love, love, love this game!

A Detective Helps a Lazy Prince
In Cinderella the prince looks for his true love...himself. In this game he hires a detective to do the foot work. It's not an 'all time fantastic game'. It's a good game. I find HOS where you have to put things back more challenging than finding the things. I've bought this game. It will be a mild fun to find out 'the rest of the story'. The graphics are good, as is the sound #in fact I had to turn all the sound choices down to almost off to keep the game from screaming at me#. So far, no glitches. I do wish I got the cute puppy to keep me company, to go along with the unicorn.

Childish, maybe, but fun nonetheless
This is based solely on playing the demo, but so far I'm enjoying the puzzles, graphics and HOGs. It's nice to have a change from car wrecks, dead people and gory HO scenes. I don't even mind placing the objects because it's a change of pace from most games. Played demo with sound on - voice overs were very annoying - may turn those off to continue playing. Oh - and the game seems to WORK - which is a nice change of pace as well.

Enjoyable Elephant Game
I guess I'm a young girl at heart. I love Elephant Games and this is no exception. Yes, it's a Cinderella type, but it's nice on the eyes, and the HOs are the opposite of what we're used to - nice change. Very enjoyable game.

An Enchanting Adventure
Who doesn't love Fairy Tales, especially the story of Cinderella. Based on the famous story, you are a detective hired by Prince Charming to find the girl who stole his heart at the ball. Can you guess what your only clue is? and can this story get anymore cheesier? So off you go, with a glass slipper on hand, a Unicorn to ride, a letter from the Prince and a camera to take the odd photo for your album, (There are 30 photos required to collect thropughout the game). From one of my favorite game developers, this time we have a unique HOPA where the HO scenes are reversed and not as simple as one would think. Placing objects back to their place is fun and a break from your standard HOGs. There are three modes to play, you have options with many settings to adjust and the Graphics are stunning but I do wish the resolution was a bit better as there was some blurriness in scenes. I loved the voice-overs and sound effects as well as the soundtrack which really amplified the gaming experience immensly. The mini-games started off simple but gradually they became more challenging and fun. You have inventory objects to pick-up and ofcourse the HO scenes to play. I had a blast with the demo and look forward to helping Prince Charming find the girl. Naturally I am expecting to run inot trouble as I have already encountered the nasty harpies on the first leg of my journey.

disappointing - bonus review at end
Review of finished game in hardmode
This game should have been named ?jumble mess of every fairy tale? as it would have been more accurate. At the beginning I thought it was the tale of Cinderella with a twist but then the plot just got truly bizarre. Nearly every character in a fairy tale appeared and then throw in some weird animals and that?s your plot. Sometimes this all works out but not here, it was all over the place and I couldn?t make heads nor tails of the whole story.
Especially at the beginning, I felt like they were trying to copy a few other developers which makes no sense as they are the leaders and are the best of what they do, so it ended up being subpar for my taste. Some of the early outdoor graphics reminded me of some older boomzap games, and the princess is called Isabella, then there are the animals that don?t quite make sense so that felt like an ERS game!
After the gorgeous graphics of nutcracker and the 3D stunning graphics of unfinished tales comes the flat weird graphics especially outside at the beginning: The graphics did get better as it went along but didn?t understand why they didn?t stay with their usual top of the line graphics.
The scrolling transporter map sometimes took 3 clicks to get into an area as you had to zoom in (being careful where you place the mouse) on a larger area then it brought up all the rooms. It does give a picture and a list of objectives that have to be completed in the area. It would be great to have a more customisable hardness setting, and on the map to be able to click on and off for map tips.
All three modes of play are their usual and you can change midgame which is good.
14 HOS
For the first time elephant hasn?t done straight list type and here they are all the reverse kind. You get an item in your inventory and you have to place them in the scene. This is my favourite kind of HOS and I actually take time and enjoy them rather than trying to random click my way through some scenes if they are junk pile or just don?t want to do a HOS. I think one or two were junk pile but the rest was more cluttered but some well done. You never repeat any HOS in any elephant game.
24 Puzzles
I class puzzles as one that has a skip button on them as there were plenty of interactions. They all were very easy to easy maybe a couple of medium hardness in main game. We aren?t stupid so I don?t know why they are now going down the road of going easier and easier, just like everybody else. I get very bored when puzzles are so easy and frankly don?t want to do them. They did have some good twists on some of them so at least those were a bit different to play, but why so easy? There is a skip button if people find a couple to hard.
I also don?t know why there have been loads of fairy tale games from elephant ? one after another. I hope that isn?t the future from them as while I don?t mind a fairy tale for a change I liked elephant games as they were neither dark nor super girly and did straightforward tales like MT or surface and they were harder and in places this felt very girly although the other fairy tale games didn?t.
I didn?t like this game at all at the beginning (due to above) but the last 1-2 hrs were the best and the graphics and even the plot seem to be slightly more focused again.
CE extras and bonus (spoiler as to what you take photos of)
I only bought the CE as it was on sale and same price as a SE or I would have just stuck with the SE. Apart from the usual screensaver, wallpaper, music (which does nothing for me) there is only 30 photos that you take of creatures throughout the game and bonus. While this is a bit different on that alone isn?t enough for me and it needed either achievements or collectables. These photos were so obvious, every animal or creature you see take a photo, they weren?t hidden or small or harder to find. In fact your curser turns into a camera on something you can take a picture of, and that?s on hardcore! That actually through me off as once I thought I had the camera when I was trying to take a picture at the beginning and when it didn?t work I thought you couldn?t take a picture or I was trying to click on them zoomed in or you needed to click on them twice.
Bonus (slight spoiler as to plot)
It was all in old areas except for one scene.
The good thing was that the plot had more focus and it was actually quite a good length ? it was over 1h 15mins and that wasn?t including the slider puzzle. So how long it takes you to do a slider, and I felt it was a harder one (thankfully!) add that time on. As usual the plot is completely finished in main game and tied up. It was a bit obvious and a bit rinse and repeat aspect of main game for me to like the plot but gameplay was good.
7 puzzles
I did find the family tree to be completely illogical as it?s the opposite of what you normally would do.
5 HOS (all reverse kind)
Yes it?s me, an avid elephant fan ? my favourite developers and I haven?t been invaded by aliens -
While this has a good length for a bonus and some kind of collectable, I would have given it 4 stars for a CE and a recommendation if it had decent plot and normal graphics. But as I felt the shortcomings of this game really added up I can?t recommend the CE as it?s double the price and as well as the extras (which this doesn?t really have) it also has to have decent or logical plot and everything else.
I will recommend the SE as the gameplay was OK and better at the end, but that would only get 3-4 stars from me.

Ah Romance (based on demo)
It's nice to have a romantic story this time of year instead of the usual car crashes, nutty people, mad doctors/sciencetists running around, vampires etc.
Story Prince hires detective to find girl who lost her slipper!
1--3 modes of play
2--interactive map, informing you of tasks that need to be done (beam me up Scotty#
3--help button refills quickly in casual
4--not your usual HOS, in this you have to place the items where they should go #you may need Spock's help to think logically)
5--items so far appear to be in same time period that is portrayed in story which is what I prefer
6--take photos during gaming
7--you get to ride a Unicorn
Not just for young girls though the game gives that impression since the Prince and the Girl appear to be rather young. I personally would have preferred them a little more mature and better looking, after all it is a takeoff on a fairy tale.
All in all a nice game for this time of year when everyone is looking for their "happily ever after".

ATTRACTIVE AND ENTERTAINING
What a delightful game! You?ve been hired to find the prince?s true love with only her slipper as a clue. You find her early on, so you know there?s going to be a lot more involved here. Many fantastic locations and things to do. Bright, crisp and beautiful graphics. Personalize the game your way: set your own gamma value, choose whether you want special effects and set the volume for music, effects, environment and voice and choose casual, advanced or hard mode.
Pleasant voice-overs and an interactive map showing where you have actions to be currently taken. Moderately challenging ?put objects into the HOS where they belong? ? but it?s not always obvious what goes where. Nothing dull in this game. Upbeat music to go with an attractive, fun and entertaining game.
