Try this if you're looking for something different This is actually an adventure/RPG for casual gamers NOT TM or Strategy. I'm a pretty serious RPG player so NO it doesn't rank with the serious games but for a casual game it exceeded the expectations I had after reading the previously posted reviews. The storyline progress is pretty standard stuff and to a degree quite linear BUT you have freedom in traversing the screens and collecting items in order to advance your character. The number of screens are limited but each time your character advances in skill there are new items to be found on each screen. The downside to this game is the VERY poorly translated dialogue. The grammar and spelling is atrocious and you have to read it all to understand what you have to do next. The amount of dialogue does decrease after a while so persevere. I've played it through twice now and going back for a third. December 21, 2012
Free form adventure So this is a non-linear, task driven, strategy/adventure type game. You are looking for your lost/kidnapped father and must give and receive help from all types of people along the way while avoiding the bandits. I like this game and will be buying it. It's pretty free form in that you can choose who to help and what tasks to complete. I have to say I don't recall playing one exactly like it on BF to date. Of recent releases, most like Adelantado Trilogy but without the time pressure and levels. You can be involved in many tasks at once or none at all... The instructions are not super clear, but I didn't find it extremely challenging to figure out what to do. The story unfolds as you play and it's not always clear what to do next, but I like that it's not predictable and all laid out for you. I don't like how small the people / items / map objects are on the screen. It can make for some squinty playing... You reveal parts of a map as you proceed, but you do not proceed along that map in a straight line. You will go back and forth, completing tasks, acquiring items for people or helping them build things like a mill, fences. You may have to slay wolves and help heal others that have been attacked by wolves or bandits. Every time you help someone you receive gold, stars and other random items. You have to stop and find places to sleep in exchange for items or gold to recharge your energy (hearts). You can trade with multiple people for items you need. Also, you will find mushrooms and eggs on the ground along the way, but they are tiny so not very obvious at all. As your different skills increase, such as hunting, healing, etc..., more hidden items will be revealed and you will benefit from retracing your steps to find newly revealed items. I don't know far I've made it through the game since it's not laid out for you, but it still feels like the beginning to me after the hour trial. December 21, 2012
Cute but short I really enjoyed the demo and purchased the game because it's something a little different. The main story is rather short - especially if you follow the step-by-step hint button (which is almost too useful). There are however several additional objectives, including side-quests, a range of achievements (I only got about half) as well as hunting/collecting and making money. The game is a mix of adventure with rpg elements but is essentially a resource management game spread over a wide map (rather than level based). There are multiple ways to acquire the resources you need and you get the opportunity to improve your character's abilities (which as far as I can tell all help resource management rather than actual skill, eg improving hunting reduces the risk of your weapon breaking or the creature escaping meaning you are more likely to get the resource you need - combat itself is always a certainty if those conditions don't happen). I enjoyed the game and may continue to see if I can unlock all the achievements and finish the side-tasks (but at the same time, this feels a little pointless with the main story complete). If I ever replay it, I'll be more leisurely and use the hint button sparingly if at all. I think this would be a great game if it were more fleshed out and a little more sandboxy, with greater areas to explore and different paths you can take (character-wise, eg focus on hunting or becoming a merchant). I still recommend this as I had fun but it was over far too quickly and I never felt there was much point to what I was doing. I would suggest that others don't play this as linearly as I did. Have fun running around, exploring, finishing side quests and trying to figure out the achievements. It's impossible to make a mistake you can't correct. You can buy and sell resources for around the same value so don't worry about getting rid of something you might need later. You can click through dialogue by clicking the actual text on the screen. Hunting resources eventually respawn, as do fishing/herb nodes and so on. There are also hidden crates and special items to find in each scene and these respawn also and give you free resources or gold. There is no quest log so you have to remember who needs what and where. The hint button only guides you through the main story. As always, try for yourself and see :) December 21, 2012
My kind of game ^^ This is a quest driven / Adventure game. Wish there were more like this one. Very relaxed , can take your time with it. The only reason it does not have 100% approval is a bit tricky figuring what you need at the start but most of the time it's fame. You have to watch your heart levels which require you to rest/sleep, which will cost you something. Some things to pick up aren't mark , like mushrooms to collect , they are just there on your screen to click. It's a game to pay attn to what you are reading to work it out. Be careful though some things will run out. I love this kind of game ! December 21, 2012
Hero of the Kingdom Well, not as bad as the first review made it out to be. Lots of hidden things to find. Lots of people to help. This game isn't the greatest I've played but it has its fun factor. And keeping up with who needs what and where to get it is a pretty good challenge. All in all....I liked it. December 21, 2012
Attention to detail This is a clever game and there is a lot to do at each setting. You do have to pay attention and look around. Often, when your cursor is hovering over an object, it will show the name (for example, "eggs", "Crayfish", etc) and you can collect it. I had no trouble generating income to continue the quests as needed. The storyline seems interesting, and I will be buying this to see how far I can get. With no time limits, it's a fairly laid-back adventure. Keep an eye on your energy and always have a little food in your pack. The artwork is very detailed, so be sure to examine each scene closely! Clicking on the lines of dialogue will make them go faster. December 20, 2012
Great RPG/Resource management hybrid What a novel little game. This combines a simple RPG with some engaging resource management gameplay to produce something new and easy to get into. The narrative is a little hokey, but perfectly acceptable at the casual end of the genre. Looks gorgeous, but the music is a little grating so recommend you turn that off. There's some nice suprises along the way for "hidden object" fans too. Worth your time and money! December 21, 2012
Good game I liked this game. It had quests to perform, and different ways you could go about earning money, such as fishing or hunting, and then trading items with multiple merchants. You could also earn money without spending any heart points by finding items people lost, simply by clicking on them around your screen. That being said, it is a very simplistic 'rpg' with basic graphics. But I am of the thought that game play is more important than graphics, so I am okay with that if the game is interesting. I moved through the different screens pretty quickly, even though I only played the demo, and it seems like it is a really short game, although I didn't buy it...yet. Even with the simple, fast game play, and the apparent shortness of the game, I will probably buy it because I like this kind of game. It is remotely similar to Cute Knight Kingdom, although you don't build up your character at all. You just perform quests for various people you meet while you try to get closer to the bandits who kidnapped your father. To the reviewer before me: You CAN skip the dialogue by clicking on the words themselves. They highlight yellow when your cursor is over the words, and you can click on them to continue. I will agree with you, however, that the hint system isn't much of a hint system, but I didn't have any trouble navigating the game, so it didn't bother me. I only clicked on it to check on what you had said. December 20, 2012
Hero of the Kingdom Despite the poor initial review, I tried this game and by and large I like it. Its more of an adventure/strategy with embedded hidden objects than time management. There is no timer so it is an easy game to to pick up and put down and go back to. December 21, 2012
Great Game It walks you through everything and you need to look for hidden objects in the area like white dots are eggs that you can sell, mushrooms you can sell for money. It has challenges and achievements for you which keeps the game interesting and there are many levels to play. December 20, 2012
