REVIEW OF COMPLETED GAME Some are saying this game is too easy. For me, it is not about hard or easy but how much fun and enjoyment I experience when playing and I really had a great time with this. ERS are know for their easy puzzles. All their games are like that. I do not consider that a negative thing. Besides, not all the puzzles are THAT easy. Some require a lot of thought and quite a bit of work. But all of them were fun. I particularly love the puppet based action puzzles. For dedicated HOG lovers, this is a Puzzle Adventure, so no HOS. Again, that for me is not a negative. I do not even notice the lack of them. Rather have none than one after the other of eye straining junk piles, where devs just throw them in willy nilly to pad the games out. That is tedious. The story is a true died-in-the-wool crime story, very well planned and told, with a few unexpected twists and turns, that made it extremely interesting and kept me intrigued. There are no supernatural elements, just hard reality. I thought it was excellent. There is one spider only and it is quickly dealt with. No snakes. While we still have no wide screen, we do however, have no more black bars either, and that is an improvement, albeit it a little one. The graphics are really good. The locations are many and the whole thing is spready out over an entire city, with bright city lights in the exterior scenes and lots of different buildings to travel to. There is not any backtracking in this game worth mentioning, it is so minimal, so the lack of a map is irrelevant. I loved the modern music and the voice overs are very good indeed, and I loved the addition of the special light to find clues. Hint is informative and fast to recharge, as is Skip. Yes, I did skip one or two here and there. I am not puzzled-minded. It's a lot to do with patience, which I am a little short on. The SG is well done, with just a few instructions on each page, but not really needed, by me anyway. Because this is a PA with no HOS, this games came in at 3.5 hrs for the main game and 45 mins for the BC, which admittedly is a little on the short side, but in this case, where there are no HOS to pad the game out, and because it is such a well done and enjoyable game, I totally forgive. There are a huge amount of extras in this game, wallpapers, sets, replay puzzles, art, and music. The main game ends conclusively for those awaiting the SE, but the BC lends an added twist with a furtherance to the story, in true crime story tradition. Who are really the villains and who the good guys? You just never know. I think ERS did a very good job with this. Not jaw-dropping, not outstanding, not wonderful, but very, very enjoyable and a real pleasure to play. Thank you, guys, and thank you BF. December 20, 2012
fast-paced mystery with stunning graphics in this hidden object mystery-thriller, you are a NYC police detective. one morning, a tearful woman arrives at your office, begging you to investigate the death of her spouse. there are many weird details to this murder, but the most peculiar is it happened on live television during a reality TV programme. complicating matters, on her way to your office, all the evidence that this woman was carrying in her handbag was stolen so she has only a few scraps left to share with you. it is your job to collect evidence to solve this murder and bring this man's killers to justice. graphics: the most realistic cut scenes i've ever seen in a video game. likewise, the artwork is beautiful and quite realistic. sound: the voice-overs are well-acted and the voices are lovely to listen to. the sound effects are also well-done. the background music is a frantic, repetitive score that is appropriate, although i suppose it could become tedious after a few hours. storyline: logical and generally well-plotted, but i was confused as to what happened to my dog and why the homeless guy was willing to help in exchange for a cup of instant coffee. one aspect that i love about this game is that some of the tools you collect along the way are re-used in multiple scenes. this is the first video game where this is a fairly regular part of the story, and since the one-use-per-tool issue is a long-standing annoyance of mine, it's gratifying to see that the game designers noticed this, too. even though i love this game, the opening cut scene was quite graphic and i found it disturbing. it's possible that other people will also find it so, which is the reason i mention this. gameplay: there are three levels of challenge and you can switch from one to another during the course of the game without creating a new profile. at least a few puzzles are unusual or novel but all are reasonably intuitive to solve. depending upon level of challenge, puzzles can be skipped after a variable period of time, although i found them easy to solve. my interaction: one hour demo, advanced mode. i purchased this game but have not yet finished playing it. overall, this is an engaging fast-paced thriller that you will enjoy. however, this game may not be appropriate for younger or more sensitive gamers. Thrilling story with eerie clowns!!!! Another great game from ERS!! And this one is for the adventure hooked gamers, as there are no HOS. Very good graphics, very clear and detailed. Lots of puzzles and minigames, some new, but not very challenging. 3 modes to play - can be changed during the game. We have a detailed notebook together with an ultraviolet lamp, which can be used to search for hidden clues in areas marked with a red balloon. Hint (shows you the direction where to go) refills quite fast (at least in the 2nd mode). No map. There are no collectables or achievments. This story/ gameplay really hooked me, but I'll wait for the SE, as the bonus-contend of this CE isn't sufficient for me... December 20, 2012
The Reality of This Game Is Great! I played the beta of this wonderfully, fun game and I have been waiting for it to be released! Well today's the day and all I have is good things to say! This game is something new from ERS and I just love the storyline and how it plays off all of the popular reality shows that are on TV. The graphics, music and game play is top notch! So why don't you tune out of those real TV reality shows and get immersed into Fatal Shot! I'm sure you will love it and I totally recommend this awesome game! December 20, 2012
Same Game, Different Story! I have to be honest here, these were once my favorite developers but lately I feel I have outgrown them. Their games of late have been similar in design and features and less challenging; like I said, perhaps I have just gotten better at playing them. ALthough their story lines continue to be intersting, I find that game mechanics especially when the games are adventure lite, consists of alot of back tracking, finding inventory objects and solving very easy mini-games. Game graphics are the same as always, their art work and designs never seem to change in style or resolution nor do thier voice-overs; relative good but not exciting. Today our story involves us solving the murder of a man who was part of a hit reality show. His wife has hired us to investigate and we soon realise that she is not as innocent as we thought. We meet up with an odd familiar face who helps us with odd clues and cryptic evidence. Our tools of the trade include one journal and an ultra violet light which needs to be used every time we come across a red balloon in order to reveal hidden clues and messages. There is no map so as I mentionne, there is alot of backtracking. While the storyline is interesting, game mechanics involve adventure lite with no HO scenes to play. I dont mind having no HO scenes as I am a fan of adventure games but this game is just too easy to play and the mini-games have absolutely no degree of difficulty. I just wish the developers could put in a bit more elbow grease into their games; it looks like they target gamers who are beginners more than hard-core players. Even while playing hard-core mode, I finished the demo trial ( two chapters) in less than 45 minutes which tells me that the game will be a bit on the short side. The only element which will prompt me to purchase this game would be the storyline as I am interested to find out who the villain behind the clown mask is and how does the victim's wife become a suspect. I will recommend this game as I know there are alot of fans out there who are loyal to these developers. Meanwhile I will ponder on wether to wait for the SE version to come out game or just buy to get the extra three credit, I really still am on the fence about this. I do wish that the developers would start adding some extra features like morphing objects, collectables or achievements just to make them more interesting and worth the extra pennies for a CE game. If I had to sum up this game, it really is a glorifies SE version with an interesting storyline. I guess it really is up to you to decide what your standards are to buy a CE game. December 20, 2012
WOW REALLY SHORT GAME SO NOT WORTH IT WOW this is probably the shortest CE game I have ever played. Took me under 2 hours to complete the entire game including BONUS content (and I'm not a fast player at all#. Very disappointed and so not worth the $13.99. There is also not one HOS in this game and BFG you will be getting a lot of static for not listing it correctly. The clowns throw you off in the beginning and it looks like a really good game BUT don't be fooled. Puzzles are SO easy in this game that a child could do them easily. Make sure you play the entire demo because there is not much game play beyond that....I wish I would have waited for the SE and used my PCC :# December 20, 2012
Review of completed game- it's only so-so Another typical ERS game, rushed, sloppy and not fully developed. I'm running out of words for their games: ho hum, run of the mill, etc. So many little mistakes, for instance apparently they don't know the difference between clockwise and counterclockwise. This is pure adventure and minigames, there are no HOS. The instructions for the minigames are poorly written, several times I had to look at the strategy guide to figure out what to do. It starts out like it might be creepy and interesting, but soon slogs down into a rather dull journey. Also, you, the detective, must be pretty bad at your job because you get so much help during the game from other characters there is little to figure out. At least on "advanced" (which is strangely ranked harder than "hard") there are no sparkles or annoying black box hints. You can turn off the music and voices, which is always a plus for me. It's really short, and the bonus game is also super short. Definitely not worth the CE price. December 21, 2012
Absolutely Fun Even though the file was a little big for my older computer I had great fun. The characters were unique. I think I recognize the voice of the bum. Maybe the fellow from 13 Skulls?? Games like this I save in a special file so if I ever get a new computer I can buy them. This is a definite buy. Great graphics, music was good, Characters super great, Game structure had nice flow. December 20, 2012
Really good fun but so incredibly short I really enjoyed playing this game, and was just getting into it when it completed... cant believe that i did the game and the bonus in under 2 hours... so a little hard to justify the price! Gameplay is good and the games are not challenging at all, so quite pleasant to play after a long day at work. Would probably have waited for the SE version if i had realised how short it was.... December 20, 2012
Really Liked It At last a new story line, with good graphics. The puzzles aren't difficult (at least so far, and I've played 1/2 hour of the demo. I'm going to go ahead a buy it, as it has caught my attention and I'm finding it quite enjoyable. I think there could be a little more challenge, but nonetheless, a very enjoyable game.
