Reality Show: Fatal Shot Collector's Edition
Same Game, Different Story!
I have to be honest here, these were once my favorite developers but lately I feel I have outgrown them. Their games of late have been similar in design and features and less challenging; like I said, perhaps I have just gotten better at playing them. ALthough their story lines continue to be intersting, I find that game mechanics especially when the games are adventure lite, consists of alot of back tracking, finding inventory objects and solving very easy mini-games. Game graphics are the same as always, their art work and designs never seem to change in style or resolution nor do thier voice-overs; relative good but not exciting. Today our story involves us solving the murder of a man who was part of a hit reality show. His wife has hired us to investigate and we soon realise that she is not as innocent as we thought. We meet up with an odd familiar face who helps us with odd clues and cryptic evidence. Our tools of the trade include one journal and an ultra violet light which needs to be used every time we come across a red balloon in order to reveal hidden clues and messages. There is no map so as I mentionne, there is alot of backtracking. While the storyline is interesting, game mechanics involve adventure lite with no HO scenes to play. I dont mind having no HO scenes as I am a fan of adventure games but this game is just too easy to play and the mini-games have absolutely no degree of difficulty. I just wish the developers could put in a bit more elbow grease into their games; it looks like they target gamers who are beginners more than hard-core players. Even while playing hard-core mode, I finished the demo trial ( two chapters) in less than 45 minutes which tells me that the game will be a bit on the short side. The only element which will prompt me to purchase this game would be the storyline as I am interested to find out who the villain behind the clown mask is and how does the victim's wife become a suspect. I will recommend this game as I know there are alot of fans out there who are loyal to these developers. Meanwhile I will ponder on wether to wait for the SE version to come out game or just buy to get the extra three credit, I really still am on the fence about this. I do wish that the developers would start adding some extra features like morphing objects, collectables or achievements just to make them more interesting and worth the extra pennies for a CE game. If I had to sum up this game, it really is a glorifies SE version with an interesting storyline. I guess it really is up to you to decide what your standards are to buy a CE game.

Review of completed game- it's only so-so
Another typical ERS game, rushed, sloppy and not fully developed. I'm running out of words for their games: ho hum, run of the mill, etc. So many little mistakes, for instance apparently they don't know the difference between clockwise and counterclockwise.
This is pure adventure and minigames, there are no HOS. The instructions for the minigames are poorly written, several times I had to look at the strategy guide to figure out what to do.
It starts out like it might be creepy and interesting, but soon slogs down into a rather dull journey. Also, you, the detective, must be pretty bad at your job because you get so much help during the game from other characters there is little to figure out.
At least on "advanced" (which is strangely ranked harder than "hard") there are no sparkles or annoying black box hints. You can turn off the music and voices, which is always a plus for me.
It's really short, and the bonus game is also super short. Definitely not worth the CE price.

So-so Adventure Game
Ok, but not great. Very good graphics, music ok but repetitive, campy vocals, Very good strategy Guide, very good journal. You obtain a black light wand that shows you hints along the way. It blinks when you need to use it, and you focus it on red balloons. No map. Hint points to tasks needed in area, or shows direction needed to travel. Not many HOS. For those who like a good story, this game is like a late night movie with LOTS of commercials. Every little bit, when it starts to get interesting, you have to stop and do a puzzle that has nothing to do with the storyline, but does reward you with a needed object. It's as if the puzzle creators were given absolutely NO info on what the game was about. As much as I love murder mysteries, this game is not for me.

I played the demo through to the end and was impressed enough to go ahead and buy the CE. Unfortunately, the game was so short that I really don't feel like I got my money's worth. This would have been a 4 or 5 star $6.99 game, but it's not worth the CE price. I really regret wasting the extra $$ on it.
On the positive side, I love games with a mystery theme and no hidden object scenes. This game fits that bill perfectly. Also, no ghosts, evil spirits, etc. That's always a plus for me.
So, I give this game a C+ at best. If you like the demo, wait for the standard version to come out. There is no need to spend $13.99 on this one.

Good, Not Great
I was looking forward to this game since I heard about it. The storyline sounded great, and I saw great potential in it. When it was all said and done, I was a little bit disappointed.
While I did like it, and I am glad I played it, I feel like there were some things it fell short with. The length of the game was exceedingly short for a CE, and that included the bonus chapter. There were things I did enjoy like some of the plot twists and puzzles. Also good was the fact that it wasn't loaded up with HOS. The graphics and sound were great and definitely added to the ambiance of the game. It is a good game, but I would wait for the SE to buy it if I had it to do over again. It has a similar storyline to Urban Legends: The Maze, by Elephant which came out a little over a year ago that I found superior to this one in gameplay if not graphics. The gameplay on Urban Legends was a solid 5 hours of quality time, and it was an SE, while this CE only took me between two and three hours.
I would say try it out before making any decisions, but on the whole, it it a decent storyline with great graphics and sound, but it was more of an SE than a CE. It's an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours in a day.

it is a good game but hard to believe how short this game was for a collectors edition! I finished the whole game withing 2 hrs and the bonus chapter in 10 minutes. Don't waste your money on collectors edition!

Slightly above average
The game was typical ERS type although no hos thank goodness, I must admit I did love the mini games and there were plenty. The graphics were good and all in all a nice game BUT far far too short. When buying a collectors edition I expect a bit more for my money and unfortunately this game didn't deliver this.

A bit of a disappointment...
I played this game expecting more than I got. I was a bit taken aback by it as not only was the ending ridiculous but the story line was, too. I don't know what it was exactly, but this game didn't quite fit the bill of my favorites such as the many other hidden object/mystery/horror games that I've played. Pass on this one and use your credits on another.

I have mixed feelings about this game
I enjoyed the sort of straight forward adventure game, found the length and the pacing to be pretty good. I didn't miss the HOS at all.
I thought sound and graphic quality were very good, but my enjoyment of this game was really hampered by the poorly written game instructions and the fact that not all the games could be reset. I spent too much time puzzling out how to play each game and that made me very unhappy....and when I looked for a hint in a game, they were not helpful...and nor was the strategy guide. I don't think I have skipped so many mini-games in a long time.
This dev often has pretty good games, but needs to clean up there act.

Bit of a "meh" adventure game - not HO as classified in BF
Average adventure game. (Note: not HO game which BF classifies it has). Find out who is behind the death of a star on a hit reality TV show.
- Graphics and scenery excellent.
- Good voice acting
- Not much travelling about in main game required.
- Bonus chapter story insight is interesting and tantalising (unlike main game), but game play is not so great (lots of to and fro).
- A game with no HO - woo! Great if you are not in the mood for screen gazing.
- Music drove me nuts and had to switch it off. Relentless and samey all the way through.
- In some areas when I expected sound later in the game I didn't hear any
- Game started off well with tense atmosphere and possibilities, but just seemed to run out of pace and started to feel like a drag.
- Puzzles not great: No-brainers at the start and later on the mechanics of what was required was not obvious at all. I reached a point where I couldn't be bothered with the game anymore, so skipped a lot of puzzles.
- Bonus part of game only lasted 20 mins for me. A bit short really.
It's not a bad game, just doesn't feel like there is much love put into it, apart from the visual graphics and acting, which is shame.
For beginners this is probably an alright game to cut your teeth into. For me, as an intermediate, this is was "all front and no substance" game, which left me a little disappointed.
