The Lake House: Children of Silence Collector's Edition 4.6 5 98 98
A Good One for "Dark & Eerie" Fans This dev consistently puts out really good games, & Lake House: Children of Silence is no exception. Gameplay is smooth, glitch-free, and fun. Despite a play world that is primarily dark, dreary, & creepy, graphics remain visually sharp & very good, & the atmosphere created by the combo of art & music put me right in the game where i wanted to be. I liked the storyline a lot - uneasy, spooky, yet just barely touched with an almost sorrowful undertone that kept me pretty much on the edge of my seat waiting to see how the story was going to end up. This HOPA has HOscenes that are easy & only slightly interactive. There's not much back- tracking, which lets the game flow better imo. A journal collects info at fairly long intervals, & the non-interactive map shows you where you have tasks to complete. Puzzles/minis are no-brainers. This is actually a pretty easy game to play - i never had to resort to the Strategy Guide or hint button in the harder play mode. But lack of hard core challenge- if that's what you're looking for - is more than compensated for by a storyline that grabs you, an immersive atmosphere, very good voiceovers, and positive creep factor. I was happy with the amount of playtime, & while the bonus play is good & does lend a bit more closure to the story, i'd think the SE would still be fine - 'specially since you're not going to get any extras like morphing objects, items to collect, or achievements in either version. I got it for sale price, otherwise i'd have been happy waiting for the SE due to lack of those mentioned game extras that i like in a CE (while concept art, wallpapers, etc, don't excite me at all). If you're looking for a nicely done "dark & eerie" game with a storyline that'll make you want to keep playing, i'd definitely recommend giving this one a try. Enjoy your gaming, folks! Very Enjoyable Game Lake House is nicely planned out. For beginners it is a must. I recommend that those with HOG experience play in the expert level to have some fun challenges. Puzzles are easy and hos are clear and well done. Best part of this game for me was the VOs were played great. Have fun! December 27, 2012
Best game of the year!!!!! This game has it all, creepy, but beautifully drawn scenery, a great storyline, games that are fun but not too difficult, haunting music. Absolutely loved it!! Bought the CE version and it was well worth the money! One of the best I've ever played! December 26, 2012

Really like this one I am not a big fan of the mini games w/in a HOG but these ones I didn't mind. The game lasted longer then most and the bonus chapter was an awesome length too. Worth the $$ to get CE for the bonus chapter alone. I didn't use the strategy guide 1x since the hint button was enough to help me figure out my next step. December 26, 2012
Truly a Five Star Game! The production was quality from the get go. Art work, story, characters the whole darn enchilada. Is that mask really destroyed? My hat is off to the entire team. Thanks so much for the fun factor. I love this type of game. December 25, 2012
Finished Game Review Thought it started out a little dumb they kept jumping up to front of the screen to talk then back to the booth they were sitting in that was a little unnerving. Then when they got to the house it was all good. Puzzles some were easy and some were trying all in it all they fit the game. I thought it was pretty challenging, lots of back and forth but really didn't mind it because of the story line. I have to say I could not stop playing. Very few reviews do I say I will probably play again and give it 5 star rating which means it is top notch with me and I really enjoyed it. A change from blood guts and zombies. LOL GL Fishes Gma Karen. December 25, 2012
Excellent, Excellent I so enjoyed the demo and can't wait for the standard version to come out. Spooky and dark but a very different story line. Great visual quality. music, HOs, and everything else about this game. Been awhile since I liked a game as much as this one, and hope that the rest of the game is as wonderful as the demo. WINNER! After just completing the trial I decided that I have to buy this game. I love games with a modern storyline, although the s/l in this game is sort of dry, the adventure and puzzles are enough to keep ones interest held. Some of the scenes are a bit over-cluttered so be sure to focus that 'special gaze' when hunting for hidden objects. December 23, 2012
