A Great Game to Start Of the Year! I am a physician who has been summoned to the town of Blackburn where several of its citizens have mysteriously died due to an uncommon illness. My first patient is seventeen years old Elizabeth who suffers from high fever, pains and two bite marks on her neck. The only thing that seems to be helping her is a flower that she holds on to with her dear life. It is now up to me to uncover the cause of her illness and stop the plague that has taken over Blacburn. Can any one say Vampires? At first the graphics reminded me of the first HOPA games that we use to play, they look a bit dated but I think that it adds to the overall atmosphere. There are good voice-overs and sound effects that somehow brings the game alive. You have three modes to choose from and game features include a diary along with a map that does allow you to travel to locations. This is your standard HOPA, heavy on the adventure gameplay, some interesting mini-games to solve and frequent HO scenes that are not interactive; however you have the option to switch over to puzzle mode which is very similar to the old paddle games we use to play. Easy at first but they do get more difficult as you progress. A great little feature that does change the momentum. I really enjoyed the art work and the storylinee which seems to involve vampires and a sinister couple that are called Lord and Lady Heartless. Yes, a bit corney but we are dealing with the undead (or at least I think we are). Dont be folled by the dated look, this game is not without challenges as there is alot to do and at times it makes it difficult to keep track of what items to use at what location. My memory was tested at times but that makes it more challenging and adds a fun factor to it. I recommend Fallen to all who enjoy gothic horror fiction and adventure HOGs that we use to play alot when they first became popular. A great way to start of the New Year with a SE game that you really can sink your teeth into. Ouch! January 2, 2013
REVIEW OF COMPLETED GAME When I hit the download button for the demo the whole game installed. Brilliant idea, don't you think, other devs? Hmmm? Just let the entire thing download and insert a cut-off point for the demo? Can be done, these guys did it. Save us those interminable waits. This is a perfectly made game that plays like a charm. It has lovely graphics in rich vibrant colours. It is, however, for those who like something challenging and more demanding, very simplistic. The story is somewhat weak, but the HOS and puzzles were done well enough to hold my interest. There is a jump map, but it does not show active areas, a journal and option to play a shoot game instead of doing the HOS. I don't like those so I only played one. They are, I think, all the same puzzle. The music was rather depressing. The hint button acts like a SG outside the HOS. The cut scenes are a bit childish looking, but the voice overs are very good and clickable, for fast readers. The options say there is wide screen available, but it did not activate for me and I am not into fiddling about with my screen resolutions, but that never bothers me. Although they only played one minor role each, there is a squirrel, a hedgehog, a kitten, a dog and a raven, included to make us smile. The game is not entirely linear, with a 3 directional choice at the fountain and then 2 in another place. I liked it well enough to use a pcc on it and at 4hrs 20 mins, a very decent length, I can honestly say that it was another relaxing, non-taxing and fun game. I just love it when games run perfectly like this one, so I have given it one more star than I think it actually deserves. Not bad at all, though very HOS friendly. January 2, 2013
Bought it - says it all Loved the game and bought it at the end of the demo. I played it in casual mode, the easiest of three, and found it challenging enough and just right for my mood today. Loved that you could opt out of (and back into) the HO scenes, by playing a paddle-type game, which got progressively harder. Loved the fact that there's a map which allows you to move quickly between scenes. Only niggle is that it doesn't indicate areas where you have tasks to perform, so you need to remember where things are that you need to do. However if you forget, the hint button indicated the direction you had to go and, in casual mode, it refilled pretty quickly. January 2, 2013
Vampires Nice surprise this game is. Love the movement of critters in any game and this one had some. Interaction with them in solving clues and getting items. It was so fun I can hardly wait to buy it. The game takes you all over the place, but I did not mind. The graphics were easy on the eye and beautiful. The HO's were nice to look at and relaxing. Made me like HO's all over again. The hint button pointed the way and refreshed pretty fast. Kept me busy was not real difficult and fun. January 2, 2013
Not bad at all! Yes, Vampires again...same story, different day (and year)! I ususally down grade a game because of the lack of story imagination, but this isn't bad. Nice graphics and game play. Music okay (I always turn it down and have it for a little background noise#. Nice hint system and fairly quick recovery. HOGs simple #a bit crowded# and items easy to find items. Games simple and nothing new here either. As always, I loved the jump map and the voice overs #always a plus for me#. I also liked the fact that you could click through the voice overs #I seem to read faster than they talk). A lot of running back and forth in this game too. Didn't care for the annoying "clicking" noise when you looked for somthing and the really annoying "squeak" when you clicked on a HOG item. Am I glad I can turn off the volume! Not all that challenging, but something about it makes me want to purchase it. I actually enjoyed this game. Very nice SE for a change. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for it at all. Thanks for the reviews and Happy New Year fellow pond buddies. January 2, 2013
great game Very interesting story line, voice overs are good.Plenty of locations to keep you wanting to play on and on.Hos are not difficult at all.I purchased the game immediately after playing the hour download. Can't wait to play more! Two thumbs up! January 2, 2013
REALLY GOOD GAME Loved this game, it was a lot of fun!! It took me most of the day to play (between breaks) but found it a lot longer than most CE's that are out. HOS scenes are good and not hard to see like some games, level of challenge in puzzles are also good. Used a GCC and glad I did it was a good game BF, thanks! January 2, 2013
Cliche Game This game is in the running for two annual awards: 1) The game with the most back-tracking, and 2) The game with the most cliche puzzles and tasks. 1. I can deal with back-tracking; in fact, in some cases, in can be fun and rewarding. However, there is so much of it in this game that it becomes hard to remember where you are to use an inventory item once you find it. Within the first hour of play, I can remember four locations that you need to return to over and over and over again because you find only one piece of the puzzle at a time. There is just way too much back-tracking in this game. 2. Within the first hour of play, I did not encounter one single original puzzle. Every puzzle you and I have ever solved in previous games is repeated here, not just once, but many times. The developers merely copied puzzles from other games. Let me give you just some examples: upholstered furniture that needs to be cut to get something inside, drawer or door without a handle (multiple times), statue that holds an item you need but won't release it until you give it something (2 times so far), an animal that has something you need but won't give it up until you feed it (3 times so far), dark places that you can't explore until you place a light source (2 times so far), something rusty that needs oil, locks without keys (many times), an item you need but can't take until you find another piece such as a hammer without its head or handle, thread without a needle, half a pruner, etc. (many times), a spider web that needs to be swept away, a pile of leaves that needs a rake, something stuck in a crack but you can't take without a tool (several times so far), a plant that needs water that instantly grows and blooms once you water it, something to be dug up, slider puzzles (which I detest), blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. This game doesn't have an ounce of originality. I, for one, am not supporting these kind of games with a purchase. A lot of you are going to like this game because of the graphics, but I buy games for the adventure, the challenge, and the discovery. This game has none of that. January 2, 2013
Hidden Gem I found this to be a surprisingly good game and not as easy as I thought it would be. There was a lot of back and forth. Nice for a rainly afternoon. Definitely worth buying and perfect for those coupons I have to use. January 2, 2013
Nice game This game has a good number of HO scenes with the right amount of difficulty. The backtracking does not matter because there is a jump map. The hint button is a useful tool if you forget something from earlier on in the game. Movement is easy and I think many will like the story line. January 2, 2013

Fallen: The Flowers of Evil

Is it just a high fever or something much worse? One doctor's house call is about to become an investigation!
