Loved the story I really love the plot and the chance to use my memory skills in this game, that's why I've rated it so highly. There are some cons, though: not interactive puzzles, sparkles for HOS even in the advanced mode and a bug, the drill, that has not been fixed. January 13, 2014
What a bargain! I bought this at 2.99 daily sales and oh what a bargain! This Se game is great! If you are looking for a SE to spend your free Big fish game do it here! Vampires, great graphics and really nice voice overs! Good play time and you can skip the HOS to do a game instead if you're fed up with HOS! Once in a while you find these little SE gems out there and this is absolutly one of the best! January 6, 2014
Plenty to Do In This Dark and Eerie This is a dark, eerie, creepy hidden object adventure game. I loved it. The graphics are beautiful (sometimes disturbing because it includes bugs, rats, and bats, even in the hidden object games). The soundtrack is eerie and creepy, and also includes the squealing of bats and rats. The voiceovers are easily understandable, very well done. The hidden object games are a lot of fun, junkpile style, but pretty challenging. The mini games also are pretty challenging and a lot of fun. There is a lot to do in this game, picking up objects in one scene to use in another scene, trying to find who or what is responsible for the "plague" that seems to have befallen the town. This is not for the faint hearted. There is also one chilling scene of a fallen Bobbie beset by bats. January 4, 2014
A Great Fun Game! Okay, so some folks might complain because the voiceovers don't include moving mouths. The acting was more than adequate, and the script was appropriate to the situations. In spite of the "old-fashionedness" of this game, or perhaps because of it, I have had an absolutely wonderful time playing it!! You know, sometimes you want to read War and Peace, and sometimes you want the funny papers. Not that this game is exactly comparable to the funny papers, but you do revisit the HOS, and there are quite a few of them. Nor does it have the bells and whistles that some fishies seem to think they have to have in order for it to be a five-star game. The storyline is interesting and had me hooked from the beginning. The artwork is gorgeous and sets the ambience so well that I actually shivered in a few places. I don't play puzzles, so I can't comment on those, but the skip button charges reasonably quickly. Yea! The hints outside of the HOS are the directional arrow type, which I much prefer to the hints that tell you exactly what you need to do, or that tell you "nothing to do here." The journal notes actually were helpful for a change, so A+ for that. There is the problem of translation. As an American, I had no idea what was meant by "jerry can" or "secateurs," and in one instance "boots" turned out not to be boots. But oh, well! At least now I know what those things are. I bought it on today's DOTD, but I would've been just as happy if I'd paid full price. July 27, 2013
REVIEW OF COMPLETED GAME When I hit the download button for the demo the whole game installed. Brilliant idea, don't you think, other devs? Hmmm? Just let the entire thing download and insert a cut-off point for the demo? Can be done, these guys did it. Save us those interminable waits. This is a perfectly made game that plays like a charm. It has lovely graphics in rich vibrant colours. It is, however, for those who like something challenging and more demanding, very simplistic. The story is somewhat weak, but the HOS and puzzles were done well enough to hold my interest. There is a jump map, but it does not show active areas, a journal and option to play a shoot game instead of doing the HOS. I don't like those so I only played one. They are, I think, all the same puzzle. The music was rather depressing. The hint button acts like a SG outside the HOS. The cut scenes are a bit childish looking, but the voice overs are very good and clickable, for fast readers. The options say there is wide screen available, but it did not activate for me and I am not into fiddling about with my screen resolutions, but that never bothers me. Although they only played one minor role each, there is a squirrel, a hedgehog, a kitten, a dog and a raven, included to make us smile. The game is not entirely linear, with a 3 directional choice at the fountain and then 2 in another place. I liked it well enough to use a pcc on it and at 4hrs 20 mins, a very decent length, I can honestly say that it was another relaxing, non-taxing and fun game. I just love it when games run perfectly like this one, so I have given it one more star than I think it actually deserves. Not bad at all, though very HOS friendly. January 2, 2013
Not bad at all! Yes, Vampires again...same story, different day (and year)! I ususally down grade a game because of the lack of story imagination, but this isn't bad. Nice graphics and game play. Music okay (I always turn it down and have it for a little background noise#. Nice hint system and fairly quick recovery. HOGs simple #a bit crowded# and items easy to find items. Games simple and nothing new here either. As always, I loved the jump map and the voice overs #always a plus for me#. I also liked the fact that you could click through the voice overs #I seem to read faster than they talk). A lot of running back and forth in this game too. Didn't care for the annoying "clicking" noise when you looked for somthing and the really annoying "squeak" when you clicked on a HOG item. Am I glad I can turn off the volume! Not all that challenging, but something about it makes me want to purchase it. I actually enjoyed this game. Very nice SE for a change. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for it at all. Thanks for the reviews and Happy New Year fellow pond buddies. January 2, 2013
Hidden Gem I found this to be a surprisingly good game and not as easy as I thought it would be. There was a lot of back and forth. Nice for a rainly afternoon. Definitely worth buying and perfect for those coupons I have to use. January 2, 2013
nice and easy Not a bad game. The HOS are pretty easy and the puzzles are not hard. Lots or running around to find things. Hint button is good but a little slow to recharge. May 8, 2013
Nice game This game has a good number of HO scenes with the right amount of difficulty. The backtracking does not matter because there is a jump map. The hint button is a useful tool if you forget something from earlier on in the game. Movement is easy and I think many will like the story line. January 2, 2013
Fallen: The Flowers of Ecil I really liked this game after I settled in to it. The story is very good. At times, the game did not seem logical regarding "what to do next", but at last, I was able to follow the game and I FINISHED it. What I thought at the beginning of the game was not what happened at the end. I love intriguing endings. It seems that there will be another game which will continue this story line. I really hope so. RJohn March 29, 2013
