On of the most BEAUTIFUL games ever !!
I just played the demo from this game and i must say, i'm surprised. The intro is not too short and the screen quality and voice over are very very good.
i was immediately surprised by the good atmospheric music.
The switching between HOS and adventure gameplay is also very good. The HOS which are in the game are not too difficult and for a person like me who doesn't like HOS or too difficult minigames is that a very important part of a game.
For everyone who loves playing adventure games with less or easy HOS i would recommend this game for download RIGHT NOW !!! ENJOY !!!

Beautiful sharp graphic, nice music and flows nicely
This game I bought without doing the demo... Saw a video on it and it looked good and saw the sale... Not sorry one bit... nicely done... dont think Ive heard of this developer before but must say nice job....
Graphics are crisp and lovely to look at... You need to find horseshoes throughout game... I like that sort of thing.. You linger longer looking at the details of the graphics.
Im a little more than halfway through... and loved so im writing my review now...
Music is not annoying but fitted for the game... Not loud and creepy or childish like some kids are playing flutes and stuff... If youve been there I think you know what I mean about that last part.. music that makes you feel ill.. It was perfect.
some games I turn the volume up and down... sound pretty consistant throughout game..
Nice consistancy with pace of game.... No map but no running 10 scenes back and forth... You stay in a few areas and work your way around... Nicely done..
I did find a little too little mini games though... most doors or chests just used a found key and not a puzzle to enter.. so a tad dissappointed there.. all in all.. Good buy for me...

Not What I Expect in a CE
So if the graphics are good and the music fits, what's not to like? Plenty.
(I generally try the demo in the casual mode, but even then I expect some challenge.)
The puzzles were so easy, I could do them in my sleep!
Everything you need to do is either sparkled or has the outline highlighted. Takes a lot of the guesswork out of it. With only 2 game modes to play, what's a girl to do?
And my biggest peeve is present in this game, too. Are you kidding? Gramophones and vinyl records? Get real! Keep the items in the game true to the period of the game. What is so hard about that?
So what IS a girl to do? Well, this girl is going to pass.

Good game and not that hard
Not a bad game. Has good voice over and the graphics are also good. The hint button works good if needed. The HOS are different but fun. Have to really look good for some. Have to find house shoes and you get rewards for not using hint button and finding things fast. My biggest complaint is that you are going back and forth all the time to find items to use to keep going.

A decent HOPA
Review of completed game on hardest mode:
Good things:
varied and interesting HOS, some challenging.
decent length worth the CE price
main game and bonus game follow the storyline
collectibles are well hidden
well written and useful strategy guide.
Bad things:
no way to turn off the annoying voiceovers- they are terribly overacted
not very creepy, rather bland.
things you can "buy" with collectibles are just items to look at, can't be used in the game.
minigames are few and very easy
sparkles even on hard mode
your diary is sparse and not very interesting or useful
Still, due to the HOS, I had fun with this game.

Uneven But Entertaining
There is quite a bit to like about this game, based on the very famous Sleepy Hollow story. As a fan of that (and Tim Burton's movie version#, I was very happy to see this game, which bears more than a passing resemblance to the plot and characters of that movie. As the game wore on, however, I felt like the developers might have called it a day midway through the script, and that's unfortunate. A bit more hashing out would have made this one perfect.
The game looks great. Locations are well done, and hidden object scenes in particular focus on looks rather than stuffing small items in every corner. Animations #mostly featuring the Horseman, of course# are a bit jarring against the backgrounds but nicely rendered nonetheless. Voice acting is pretty good, and characters you meet speak throughout the game which I quite like. Other than some of the in-game animations not having sound, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of it all.
Level of challenge is acceptable. Hidden object scenes, as mentioned, are pretty simple, and divide between standard and seeking pictured objects. You'll visit locations multiple times and there's some backtracking, but it's not too bad. The game does a good job of closing off areas you've dealt with to prevent too much of that. Minigames are usually activated upon using an inventory item, and they range from incredibly easy to slightly difficult. There's nothing here to prevent even a rookie gamer from plowing through.
The collector's edition includes unlockable achievements #always a nice touch, although you'll have most of them before you get to Chapter 2# and horseshoes that you can collect to purchase items for your office. I do like that the horseshoes are collected from the regular scenes as well as the HO scenes, but there's not really enough motivation to go back and find them all unless you're a true completist. The bonus chapter adds some game time #and it's a reasonably long game), but it was one of the weaker parts of the game for me. It felt tacked on and random, and some of the item combinations and applications stretched logic just a bit too far.
My only other complaint is in the storyline. It might be nitpicking, but if you're going to base your game on a movie you might want to pay attention to detail. Inspector Crane is a man of science who doesn't believe in the legend at first, that much is true, but this Crane espouses those same beliefs while speaking to dead ghosts from the earliest part of the game. That doesn't make much sense. Katrina isn't really utilized, either, and the "plot" is abandoned midway through in my view. Still, you'll have more than enough fun putting the Headless Horseman to rest permanently when you look past those details.
All in all, this game is enjoyable and entertaining and does make the effort to make it a true collector's edition. It suffers a few flaws and is a bit uneven, but the small touches and voice acting make it a winner at the end.

Whoa! Another Good One
Just completed the demo and I was really becoming engrossed in the game. The storyline so far isn't bad, Clear graphics and just the right amount of HO's and puzzles which are solvable not impossible like some games. An added feature that I enjoy is searching for horseshoes throughout the game and even in HOS! This game is worth buying.

Don't lose your head!
All bad puns aside. my thoughts on Cursed Fates The Headless Horseman is just a wonderfull Hidden object game! I always loved these types of mystery games. I bought this CE game yesterday for only $9.99 (new years price). Cursed Fates has it all, great storyline, graphics are well done, and the voiceovers are spot on. its great to see a new developer come out with this gem. I hope they do many more games of this type! I also like that there is achievements and trophies, and that you collect golden horseshoes along the way gives it more of a "need to play" feel. All in all i'm very happy with my purchase of Cursed Fates headless horseman.

Fantastic!!!!
Absolutely a joy to play. One of the best games that have come out recently. Normally I don't even bother with a HOPA anymore if it doesn't have an interactive jump map as most of the games are a backtracking mess without it but this game is so fantastic on the whole that I didn't even notice it doesn't have a map nor does it really need one. It has alot to do but in a good common sense way that made me want to just keep going to find out what was coming next.
The graphics are amazingly clear and crisp. Lots of achievements and trophies to win/purchase. No annoying music diddlies or weird sound affects every time you click on something in the game or in a HOS (a huge pet peeve of mine) but a nice normal "click" sound effect in this game which I thank the devs for immensely.
I was very pleased with every aspect of this game and I will look forward to more games from this dev since I have never heard of them before now and in my opinion they just released a winner!
A definite buy for me.
Happy gaming to all my fellow fishies =)

Extremely atmospheric and absorbing
This game is outstanding in every way.
The artwork, music... everything is top notch and a bit different than we are used to here on BFG and I mean that in a positive way.
Oh, it would have been superb for around Halloween time, yet so well created, it will be just as enjoyable at any time of year.
On a personal note, I have a feeling it's one of those games I'll pull out of the cobwebs next October and re-play.
Give it a whirl... you may be as pleasantly surprised as I was.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
