Detective Quest: The Crystal Slipper
Blonde hair: good. Brown hair: bad.
I guess I am going a bit against the flow here by saying that this game really really disappointed me. After playing hundreds of games and especially Elephant games, I found not one single bit of this game original in the slightest. Help blonde Cinderella defeat the evil brown-haired fairy with the help of her blonde fairy Godmother. The only thing possibly bold and original about this game was the daring mullet haircut the Prince flaunts.
The graphics, of course, were stunning and crisp. The voice-overs were normal with good animations of characters and cute animals alike. The plot was yawn-inducing, an exact replica of hundreds of Cinderella and evil fairies that have marched before it. The length was average. It did not grab me in the slightest.
Two big things that bothered me: The map is helpful but from the first moment when you click on it, it shows EVERY place you will be in the game. In detail. I could see instantly what future scenes would look like, and it really bugged me because it took all the suspense of traversing a game right out. The second thing is the set-up of the scenes themselves. There would be tiny spots right next to each other or on the very edge of the screen that I would overlook or miss and later would find an object that was useless. I spent so much time walking around completely frustrated and used the hint button almost constantly to point out spots that I had not seen. Now, I have played many many games, and this never happens to me. Either I was really off my Big Fish game, or the way the active locations are spread out are really weird and tiny.
Overall, if you don't mind a used plot and generic good vs evil then go for it. The graphics really are beautiful, as always with Elephant games, and this would be a fun game for beginning Fishies out there or anyone who doesn't want a weird twisting storyline. The animals are adorable, the hint button is (extremely) helpful at times, the map fast-tracks, good sprinkling of puzzles, crisp HO's and the ending is satisfying. I suggest playing the demo to see if the game style is a bit frustrating like it was for me with the lack of direction, or maybe I was just having an off day.
Happy gaming, Big Fishies!

Beware of artificial sweeteners.
This game lumped a lot of fairy tales together to reunite the prince and his new found love. They look like they are 15, made of saccharine.
There is a map that helps you jump around and shows objectives. Sometimes there is no logic to what you should do next. The puzzles weren't very hard and the annimation was rudimentary. The depiction of the characters was OK, the scenery was also OK and the story line was so-so.
Hidden Object scenes were a bit different - you place objects into the scene where they belonged. Interesting and all doable. Music was not note worthy.
All in all it was a very low average game.

This game may have a good subject line but I totally dislike games that have you all over the place to complete a task. The story also seems to be all over the place. I also disliked the HO games, which are just find the place where the item goes; I like the regular HOs, even a variety is ok, but this game seems to only have the "insert pieces" type. I almost ended the demo after about 20 minutes but was hoping it would improve....which it did not do. This will definitely be a pass for me.

Not so great
There doesnt seem to be any cohesion in some of the hidden object games, or clarity.
Cant skip mini games soon enough and annoying when too many pop up.
Too badkgreat graphics

Just An Odd Game from a Normally Terrific Developer
I usually love this developer's products, but this game was really odd. It's almost as if they have a totally new team of talent.
Graphics were flat and cartoonish.
Poor introduction to the storyline and characters. And the story continues in a haphazard sort of way, in that the dialogue is terrible -- it switches from fairy tale type to modern day.
Hidden object scenes were frustrating. It took several clicks sometimes to pick up an object and put it back into the scene where it belonged.
Played the game for 25 minutes and couldn't take anymore of it. Something that's never happened to me before with a game from this developer.

unfortunately this game failed for me
the idea and story line was good but the game did not do it for me. the hint button is good and tells you where to go but you have to remember where every place is. there is a map but it is not really helpful because it doesn't name the places to go for the most part and the last straw was near the end I was supposed to get a gas mask but didn't and couldn't go back to where it was so I couldn't finish the game. so unfortunately I can not recommend this game.

Ended up being very bored
I usually play games all the way through but I couldn't do it with this one. I got incredibly bored. The game was a mess and all over the place. The map was useless for me, I prefer the ones where you don't have to zoom three times before you know what to do and where. My brain just got frozen with all the boredom and I just ended up clicking the skip and hint button before I decided to quit. Graphics were so flat and the characters' mouths didn't even move when they spoke, yay. My only star is for the cute animals, nothing more.
I was really looking forward to this because it has so many stars but I hated it and I hope I won't even hear about this ever again.
