Cool, Creative, Artistic Steampunk Fun Seems this game is a tad polarizing, & after playing the demo I can understand why it's a love it or hate it game. Up front, i am totally loving this outrageously cool, unusual, creative, & yep, rather strange game from a favorite dev who seems to have stepped outside of the typical game box with this one. I don't favor fragmented objects over hidden objects; they usually just drive me nuts, but for this game i'm having fun with them, & it seems a good fit. So, we've got a FROPA i guess (fragmented object puzzle adventure # with a diabolical mirror with magical powers capable of abducting people into it's convoluted world, & we have been called upon by a certain young man's sister to investigate & find the missing fellow. We're finding mirror shards along the way, which somehow are going to help us do a rescue & escape. Once we enter The Mirror's world, holy wow! It's like Steampunk Junction, folks, & it is way too cool for me. Beautifully done artwork - i was enthralled immediately. Background music i've heard so far is really appropriate, being Victorian era calliope music, which i'm loving 'cause it's an innate part of the whole steampunk atmosphere the dev's created so well. Due to the frag objects that i'm not used to, i'm moving more slowly than usual thru this, which is a little frustrating, & my main challenge so far. But i'm really liking the oddly interesting storyline, excellent artwork, & smooth game mechanics. Initially you'll have several options to personalize your gameplay, & there's a journal & a hint button/mirror. It does not seem to be a hard game, but there's plenty going on & i don't foresee boredom entering the gameplay anytime soon. Again, i get it that some will feel this to be, as one reviewer put it, "a sensory nightmare". I'm on the other side of the fence, finding it appealing & rather stimulating to the senses, which just goes to show once again, different strokes for different folk. I can't wait to buy & enjoy this sci-fi, retro-futuristic, fantasy, or what you will as far as labels. I really think if you're up for something different, & especially if you tend to like the unusual & out-of-the-ordinary, you might want to give it a demo & see how it speaks to your gaming preferences. Against the grain, I'm gonna 5 star this for a stunningly cool visual presentation, fun & interesting gameplay, intriguing storyline, & for being one of those rare pieces of work that make you say "huh?" - hopefully with a smile. Nice job, devs! Enjoy your gaming, folks! January 19, 2013
No challenge! Liked the first "the" mirror mysteries, but not so sure about this one. Nice graphics (although a bit cartoony and old school) and game play was good. I liked the "HOGs," but this type gets real old real fast. Some items were extremely hard to find and had to use a hint a couple of times. Needs more than just "find here and use there" type of HOG (FROG). Voice over is nice, but what's with the sub-titles? I can hear that someone is laughing or a loud noise, I don't need to read it as well. Didn't care for that at all. Can't click through dialogue, which is a pain when you read faster than they speak. This game just seemed to move very slowly and didn't make me want to run right out and buy it. I guess it is okay for a beginner, or someone who doesn't have anything better to do with their time, and that is the only reason I am recommending this game. I got to the end of Chapter 2 when my demo ran out and still had 15 minutes of play left. I don't think I even want to spend a game credit for a game that only has another 45 minutes of play...way too short for me. Think I'm going to pass on this one today. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may find it quite enjoyable. Thanks for the reviews. January 19, 2013
I LOVE THIS GAME I may be a minority in the FROG category but I love them. In this game I applaud the developers for upping the anti on what I consider an IFROG (interactive frog). Having to find pieces of an object in order to unlock other objects and then place them where they belong has made this game not only fun but challenging. It's not as easy to spot certain pieces but that only adds to the challenge for me. I also note the graphics are superb, colorful and clear on these tired eyes. I loved the 1st game in this series and I'm already looking for a 3rd installment. Happy Gaming! January 20, 2013
A Fun Game I've played other games where you have to put together items and then use them to continue with the game and this one is fun, intuitive, and fast paced. If you're looking for a few hours of fun this is the game for you. January 19, 2013
Very Strange but Okay. I am not much of a frag. player, they do not interest me...so for me to even buy it is weird in its self. I liked it because it was strange. The characters were fun and the graphics very nice. I did not mind the sound at all. I could not find a mirror fragment in the third mirror scene but was able to back track and it worked out well. Main complaint....TO DARN S-H-O-R-T-. I work for my money...especially now...the games need to be worth the m-o-n-e-y!! January 19, 2013
Only SoSo The idea is a continuation of the first game: an evil mirror that can kidnap and transport you into other worlds. I am not a fan of the "find a fragment and then use it" type games and that is basically all it is. I played almost all the way through the demo hoping it would improve, but no go. The graphics are fine but I turned the sound off because it was annoying. I really wanted to like the game since I enjoyed the first one but I won't be buying it. January 19, 2013
Ha ha great! The very end, such a classic! That mirror guy was so greatly pompous and he soooo got what he deserved at the end. I hope to see this continue, I love the evil mirror's laugh! I'm ready to play with more mirrors! January 19, 2013
Short enjoyed playing the game, however, It was extremely short. SureI could have finished it during the trial period January 19, 2013
Opposite HO This game has you find the certain "pieces" by picture instead of the normal HO, which I do like..Storyline is a little weak--hint button is good if you need it...Have to agree that the music is a little irritating, but can always mute...Not a bad game, just not for me.. January 19, 2013
Hidden Objects Scenes With a Twist This is a hidden object game that requires you to find object pieces and put them together to complete the HO scene. Several of the objects will have "locked" pieces, which required you find all the pieces of say object A then use completed object A to uncover a piece that will go to object B and so on. The challenge in this game is that of finding the objects which can be difficult to find/see. There are cut scenes and videos throughout the game. If you don't know what to do next in the game, you can use hints to guide you. I played 40 minutes, completed chapter 1, there are 4 chapters in total. I cannot remember playing any mini-games, however, the hidden object scenes are somewhat like mini-games. It's a different type of hidden object game so some will like it and others not. I'm on the fence as to whether I will purchase. After my play time, I was a little bored. However I recommend that you give it a try and decide for yourself. January 19, 2013
