Falls Short of Being A Great Game!
Hallowed Legends: Templar ranked high on my list of top 20 games for 2012 and once again, I had hoped that these developers would not disappoint with Ship of Bones but somehow, after having played the demo, I found that it does fall short of earning five stars. The reason being that everything was just so very familiar, including the storyline.
Our story takes us to the city of Erlenbourg that has fallen prey to a dark and mysterious curse. A sinister looking woman in white stalks the streets and takes the souls of the citizens, leaving behind their skeletons to roam the city helpless and confused. With the help of Hamlet, a talking raven, it is now up to us to solve the mystery and end the curse. It just seems that not long ago we also faced a wicked entity that went after the human souls and a city where the dead roamed. I felt a very strong sence of deja vu as I played the game. Still, game features and mechanics are fun and I am quite enjoying the experience of the visuals.
The graphics are exceptional and live actors are used during cut scenes creating a life-like gaming environment. Sound effects and music are also excellent as are the voice-overs. Overall, the game looks sharp and the effects are very well done. I especially love the small details that many game developers overlook like clicking on something and having it move.
Game features three play modes to choose and a map that will allow you to travel to locations of interest. Gamplay is standard HOPA with interactive Hidden Object scenes that are not very challenging. Mini-games are interesting and there is a fun factor to them.
The added bonus are the collectables, 25 goblins to find and there are achievements as well.
While it does pale slightly in comparison to Templar, Ship of Bones does offer great visuals, interesting mini-games and there is Hamlet who helps us along the way. What the game does lack is a challenge gameplay that I expected and the black bar tips offer way too much information which I found slightly annoying. Still I was expecting to be more thrilled and it just did not happen. However, as I own all the Hallowed Legend series, I will definitely add this to my list of CE games but as I said, I am disappointed as this game did not live up to my expectations. You may want to try the demo and perhaps make use of club credits you may have on hand. If however you have't tried out The Templars, by all means, take advantage of the bundle sale today.

Chilling HOPA - No bones about it!
Really Creepy! If you liked the first two in the Hallowed Legends series (Templar is my favourite), this one might be for you.
When your plane crashes near the City of Erlenbourg, a raven called Hamlet warns that a woman in white will take your soul if you are not careful. He will be with you for appropriate guidance along the way. I found the gameplay and graphics similar to Samhaim, but did not find myself drawn into the story as I usually do with games from this developer. Not sure why. Kind of a been-there-done-that feeling.
There is a transporter map. The hint recharges quickly and tells you what to do next. Without a journal or task list, this is helpful. Didn't find any need to consult the SG. The HOS are interactive. (Find the valve to turn off the steam to get to the handcuffs, then use a key from the scene to open them before they can be ticked off your list.# I found this fun. The puzzles encountered in the demo are familiar and not difficult.
The cutscenes advance the story, the music #or lack of it# suits the moment, and the sound effects enhance the atmosphere ? an occasional clap of thunder and the haunting sound of a ghostly wind. This, along with the abundance of skulls and skeletons, fits well with an abandoned and cursed city. #I had to laugh, in spite of myself, at the beggar skeleton in front of the Museum who asks for alms.) There are 22 goblins to collect, achievements and a bonus chapter.
I have to admit that I found this game less compelling than its predecessors and, for me, the creepy factor was a little over the top. However, since my dislikes are based on personal preference, I do recommend that you give it a try!

FANTASTIC and LONG adventure !!!!
Based on completed game....
WOW. This is a terrific game! Elephant Games and Big Fish Games have done it again!!
I actually did not like the first two "Hallowed Legend" games, but this one gripped me from the beginning and didn't let go until the end of the bonus play. MANY places to explore, the hidden object scenes were great. They were fun without being a strain on my older eyes.
I actually prefer games with lots of back and forth, so I never got tired of that OR used the map to transport. It's fun to remember where everything is you need to do or collect.
The game is meant to be a bit spooky, but the scenes are lovely, not dark or gloomy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!!!

What a Game!!
Well worth the wait for this next Hallowed Legends game. Elephant games has not let us down. Loved it. There is so much to do and remember. You do get a little helper which is nice. You also get to collect goblins as you go along. The story line is just creepy enough and full of twists and turns. Very interesting things to do and the HOG are challenging. I highly recommend this game.

Extra gameplay yay!!
This was quite a good game. It was beautifully drawn as always with Elephant games. Really awesome cut scenes. But what I liked the best was the extra gameplay. There were goblins to collect and achievements to achieve. But there was also a magical book that needed to be recharged and you did that by matching runes to locations throughout the game. (similar to MCF games) You also collected runes and crystals. very good. Each location stayed open as you needed to do things in each one long into the game. There was the addition of a crow to help if you didn't mind him complaining the entire time. He also told the story in the cut scenes. I liked this game. I will add that it seemed a bit similar to some of their other games but it was still good.

DEFINITELY worth the price !! Bonus Chapter great!
SO glad I got the CE and didn't wait for the SE. Since I'm getting in late on a review I will state that I am not one who wants CEs for the collectibles, achievements, morphing objects, wallpapers, etc. I want the added play time and for the bonus chapter to be worthy of the price. Ship of Bones is very well worth it as the bonus chapter takes you to about 12 areas where you actually help the ship of bones go back to where it belongs. EXCELLENT !!! Love the whole game!

One Hel of a Game!!
When I first saw the preview video for this game I was a bit uncertain that it would be good as I thought it was going to have a lot of annoying 'real people' in it like the old man in the chair. However I was somewhat intrigued so I bought it.
I was way wrong. This turned out to be a fantastic game! I love games that have snow and icy scenes in them but that was just a part of the journey I was taken on in this brilliant game. I am a huge fan of Nordic sagas, Gods & Goddesses, etc and the portrayal of the Goddess Hel was very good here.
I loved the raven that gets added to the inventory to aid you to acquire many objects throughout the game.
The mini games where good and not over hard or annoying, the HOS where also good and not too many of them like some games.
There where hidden goblins to find, The Book of Fire that you match cut outs to images where great.
The interactive map was great.
All the graphics where excellent and great soundtrack.
The bonus chapter was also great. Where you have the Raven assistant and Hel's loyal familiar Garm both added to the inventory to perform more tasks and obtain items for you.
There was so much to do and it was fun!!
I wont give anymore away get it now!!
This is now my favorite game:)

Could Have Been Better
This game is average. Average story and average puzzles. The HO scenes are mostly junk piles although the junk is pertinent and not nearly as cluttered as some. The interactive HO's were a bit challenging and continued throughout the entire game.
My biggest problem with this game is that it gradually ended up being a back and forth and back and forth run around. Going from one area to another only to collect one item and then running back to use it and finding that we now need one other item and so on.
Having a Map is nice so that you don't have to waste so much time clicking but it detracts from the gameplay to be always traveling through a Map. Personally, it sort of takes me out of the story and really makes it harder to keep up with what to do. Running back and forth is okay if it is contained to a couple of scenes at a time but to run all over the entire game course isn't fun, it just gets tedious
I played it all the way through but not the Bonus Chapter. I might play some other time. It's an okay game but it could have been better.

Fabulous Ship of Bones
I have over 150 HOS in my library and I must say until this game came along I could have done without a lot of them. This game just captivated me from the start. The graphics are fantastic, music is outstanding, the story line is sneaky, it creeps up on you. A lot of twists and turns to throw you off the trail. I have the other two games from Elephant and it has certainly lived up to its reputation. 5 Stars from me. The one thing I did not like is the inventory it was hard to bring up most of the time. But in no way detracted from my having fun with this one. I am currently holding 19 HOS games on my desktop to play.
