You might have to pay the price for this one!
Turn out the lights! It?s Halloween again, and it?s time to be scared! This game is deceptively simple. Before you realize it, you are drawn into the eerie atmosphere and find yourself wrapped up in a frightening pursuit. What on earth (or not?) has happened to the partygoers? Played the demo and will buy the game. I have to find out!
The opening cutscene begins with an ordinary car ride. (Insert yawn now, or so I thought.) A girl goes to a party on Halloween at a creepy old house. To enter she needs an invitation and a jack-o-lantern. She has to find the former and create the latter. Task completed, she enters the party. Suddenly, her host is enveloped in a cloud of black mist and disappears, along with everyone else. Fun turns to fear and the adventure begins!
The gameplay is standard HOPA, with decent graphics, moving cutscenes and haunting music. Sound effects add a touch of realism ? the laughter of party guests, the sound of a crying child, the anxious barking of a dog. Sympathetic characters appeal for help. A sense of desperation and urgency steadily grows.
There?s a transporter map and task markers for each location. A diary records clues, the hint recharges quickly, and the puzzles are fun and frustration free. (The first one actually has a solution available with the click of a question mark.) The IHOS include lists with a twist. Find a code, put together a broken picture, complete a puzzle. Nothing innovative here . . . and yet . . . .
Just another typical SE? A filler for BFG?s release calendar? I started the game expecting nothing and finished the demo wanting more. See what you think. You might be surprised!

Did We Miss Halloween??
Shadows Price of Our Sins is an interesting SE game. Like others, I am surprised that it was not released as a Halloween game. A nice spooky game.
The Graphics are very good, with the exception of the IHOS where they seem to be a bit fuzzy or muted. Quite frankly, I had a difficult time finding objects except for the sparkles that appear when it seems we are having difficulty locating an item. Very different to see sparkles in the HOS parts of a game. Although there is no walkthrough at present for the game, the map and hint system are available and seem to provide all the help that is needed.
Although the music is very good, I had difficulty hearing the voice overs. I adjusted the music volume down and had the voice volume set at the highest level but the voice overs still seemed too low to hear clearly.
The storyline seems interesting. You are attending a Halloween party when the other guests disappear. This is a game with a story that is worth investigating and I think will hold my attention throughout the game. I like spooky, eerie games and this one seems very promising.
I think this is a very nice game and will be an interesting way to spend some time on a rainy afternoon. A definite replay is in order next Halloween!

Nice Long Game and Fun to Play!
Details after playing the completed game in Expert mode:
Please Note: For those who are sensitive to occult subject matter, the storyline, graphics, and some game play incorporate occult themes (spells, and rituals, graphics w/pentagrams, etc.). Music is also on the eerie side.
-2 Difficulty Modes: Casual and Expert.
-Options Menu includes volume control for Music/Sound Effects/Ambient Audio. There are choices for Screen Resolution, Fullscreen, Widescreen, and System Cursor.
-Diary can be found on the bottom right portion of the screen above the Hint button.
-There is a map located on the bottom right side above the Menu button. You can use the map to transport from location to location and it also notifies you of available activities with a green and black exclamation point.
-Inventory bar does not lock.
-The game did fill my 19? monitor screen.
-Hint button can be used for both HOS and game play. Hint button takes about 1 minute to reload in Expert mode (30 seconds in Casual).
-Most of the HOS are interactive and in junkpile form. There are about 18 original HOS. Some had minigames included.
*There is no misclick penalty.
-Puzzles/Minigames can be skipped. It took about 1 minute to skip in Expert mode (30 seconds in Casual). For help solving the puzzles, a Question Mark is located in the upper right corner.
*There are about 30 puzzles to complete.
-There are cut scenes throughout the game, but these can be skipped.
Genre: Supernational/Paranormal/Occult
Game length: I consider myself a slow to medium paced player, so it took me 6 hours 16 minutes to complete the game.
My opinions about the game:
*I played in Expert mode and there were sparkles for only finding the HOS.
*Graphics were fantastic!
*Music fit with the gameplay. Very creepy!
*Most of the puzzles were somewhat difficult, but there was help by clicking the ? (or could be skipped).
*The HOS were fun to do!
*Game length is long!

Shadows, Price for our sins
I have only played a small part of this game, You arrive at an old barn for the Halloween party, the aim is to find your fellow students who's souls have been captured by the evil Samhain, also the souls of the of the old Stone family, the graphics are ok a bit grainy inplaces , the vo is ok but sometimes I have found it annoying, but not off putting as there is plenty to do to get into the game, I don't think it will be a bad game, the puzzles so far have been easy the ho's are not to hard to find, you also have interactive objects , these are not hard to do either, I think it will be a suitable game for beginners as well as intermediate players.
give it a go make up your own mind, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Its really great!
Musthave game in casual titles. I just have nothing to say - need to play. Here three things going together - story, music and picture. Rarely developers, who can transmit the integrity of these three things. Numbers of cutscenes full of story. Story that passes through the game and stays bright aind interesting. Really great work! Ending so emotional through the music.
The game isnt ideal, many moments could made better, but the big things makes all excellent. Besides, my rating is high to the game because its great game for family and playing together solving riddles.

Brillant
Choose your adjective for brilliant, awesome etc game. Lots of thought went into this game and it was looooong. I was never bored or frustrated. Excellent having the map. Wish I didn't have the clunk aspect when using the mouse in some of the game truly hate that sound and it isn't needed. Recommend trying the whole of the demo before deciding. Matouk

A Nice Surprise!
This is a really neat game. The HOGs really make you think. I found it fascinating. I think you have to give it a chance, because I was stumped with the very first game and almost gave up. Thankfully, I wasn't the only one when I went to the forum. A lone girl went to a halloween party, and her friends all disappeared in shadows and it goes on from there but I don't quite understand where this is going. I am definitely going to buy this game NOW though. I hope it continues to be as interesting later in the game.

Too Many Interactive HO Scenes Got in the Way :o(
During my first twenty minutes of Shadows, I had decided I was going to give it a 5 Star rating so I bought it. Graphics were great, sound effects totally fit the game, and the main character's voice was perfect. The storyline was a bit different and engaging. There was a journal and a map that actually took you to where you wanted to go. The Hint & Skip buttons refilled quickly. All sounds good, right?
Not so. The first few hidden objects started out being slightly interactive, but quickly became overwhelmingly time consuming. And there were just SOOOOO many of them. Everytime I turned around there was an HO scene and you couldn't just breeze through them -- you had to solve them. That is what totally sucked the fun out of this game, at least for me.
The puzzles became annoying also. Instructions for completing them were either incomplete, confusing or totally the wrong instructions for that particular game. First time I've ever seen minigames with the wrong instructions attached to them.
The final straw was the grand finale cutscene that tied up the entire game -- there was none. All I got was a black screen with music, and then the Credits started rolling.
So sorry I didn't play this game a bit longer before buying it. I would recommend this game if you like tons of interactive hidden object scenes. Otherwise, not so much.

Really enjoyed this one
This game was fun and lasted a longer time than normal. That was refreshing. The visuals on the cut scenes were blurry, but the actual game graphics were wonderful and crisp and clear. Really liked this game.

Wonderful game in all areas
This is my new favorite! Shadows is put together beautifully. Play is smooth and interesting, puzzles fairly easy but very enjoyable. I found the story and music made this game a great deal of fun. I am not one for story but occassionally one game comes along with a homerun of a story, that is Shadows. Make sure you read all the script it is masterfully written with great twists in the story. I will say some characters are a bit scarry but that only adds to the games charm and suspense. The beauty of this game is also in the small detailed enhanced sounds added at just the right time. THX BF 5 fins up!
