Very Nice Game
The story begins with you, a retired detective, receiving a message about some mysterious deaths, all of them seemingly random. You decide that you can't pass up the opportunity to solve this puzzle, so off you go!
Pros:
+ Great graphics. Some are a little foggy/hazy in places, but for the most part everything looks crisp and bright to me.
+ Voiceovers are pretty good. Music is fine.
+ Collectibles are fun to find.
+ Three game modes to choose from, and you can decide whether or not you want the map to have help indicators.
+ Puzzles are twists on the usual puzzles. I haven't seen anything terribly new, but they're still fun.
+ Hidden Object scenes have interactive parts, which I like.
+ Achievements! (Even though none seem too hard to get, and some are automatic.)
+ Wallpapers and whatnot are unlocked when you buy the game, if you enjoy using them.
+ There's a chemistry kit where you get to mix perfumes, and a bottle that helps you to collect various scents around the game.
+ No lag between scenes here for me.
Cons:
- The story isn't very inventive, but I'm glad it's in such a nice setting.
- The "bad guy" is a little weird because he keeps popping up out of nowhere!
All in all, this is a really nice game. It's nothing groundbreaking, but still quite enjoyable.

everthing you want in a game
Pretty good game and fun to play. Really not a hard game either. Graphics are good and has voice over. The HOS are like most of the others and easy. The puzzles are not all that hard either. Has a map which works ok and the hint button works good. You do have to go back and forth but all the games are doing that now. Has a good flow.

SCENT OF DESIRE
Awesome game. This one has it all, great graphics, good tunes, achievements, a map for traveling as well as a fluer-de-lis icon for tasks available and a hint system that you'll probably not have to use. The mini games such as selecting two weights at the same time and rearranging to have 4 alike weights on both sides, although not new they are fairly easy and you get achievements for finishing the games as well as not using the hint system in the HOS. You will also recieve an alchemist box with a scent catcher and when you find a perfume recipe you get to invent a new perfume and you get an achievement for that as well. Scent of desire has a good storyline about a rogue perfume apprentace who is killing woman with toxins in a cholera plagued town, is it for the scent of death?

HEAVEN "SCENT"........
This is a game that I knew I would buy after 5 minutes of playing. The graphics are lovely, and I had plenty of time to admire each scene while I tore my hair out looking for the 'hidden items'!!! Beware - many of them are *extremely* well concealed; however, I prefer hidden to mean 'hidden', rather than some games where you can find them in seconds.
The plot - you are a detective assigned to find the killer of a number of seemingly random young women - may not seem anything particularly new. However, I enjoyed collecting the scents as I went along, and mixing different 'perfumes' to assist me in certain tasks. That was a novelty.
There is much to explore in each scene, but a very handy jump map is there to help you when needed. The map shows where you are, and areas where there is something still to be done. I tend not to rely heavily on the jump map to get me through the entire game, but it's certainly useful when the "little grey cells" fail me temporarily! I didn't need to use the Hint button at all during the demo game, because I either knew what I had to do, or could check the map. There is also an in-built Strategy Guide, which shows only the 2 chapters of the demo, but I'd imagine most people won't need to refer to it much.
Puzzles, again, are nothing particularly new, and they're not head-scratchingly difficult either #at least, not the ones in the demo#, more just a matter of "fiddling" until you get the right result. The Hidden Object Scenes were clear and the objects well-sized - not the microscopic, halfway-off-the-screen, eyestrain-inducing things you come across in some games.
Overall, I found this to be a fabulous, fun game that I look forward to playing in its entirety. Other devs had better watch out, because this particular developer has really created a game that is "up there" with the best!

Interesting concept......uninteresting game.
This game, to me, had everything....but at the same time failed dismally.
The game itself had nice graphics, cut-scenes, and voice-overs, although slightly on the bland side.
The hidden object games were only slightly interactive, and easy.
Puzzles were also easy.
There were bonus achievements to earn - but only very basic ones.
You had extra items to collect, but they were so obscure and hard to see - even after knowing where it is - that it became pointless even trying to find them. For example, a lot of them are hidden behind a small chalk drawn cross - next to impossible to see. Also, I didn't even realise there were any to collect until a couple scenes in, and by that time one of the scenes could no longer be accessed.
You had a map that could jump to locations, and was quite well done. The only positive in the whole game. And just as well, as there was a lot of back and forward, with absolutely no pattern to it at all.
You had a journal that was, frankly, a waste of time - very minimal entries only.
The storyline was dead boring. Why, I am not sure, as it is an interesting concept. But it just lacked any interest at all. And any twists in the plot are ruined if you look at what achievements can be earned at the beginning of the game.
I can't comment on the bonus chapter as I gave up well before then.
If you like games that keep you second guessing, and you can't get away from, then I suggest looking elsewhere.

"Hey, Something Smells Fishy Around Here!"
In "Scent", you are a detective(of course), ready to retire in France when lo and behold, your services are needed to help solve a murderous who-done-it. So of course you can't resist!
This game is a time piece, so we just know that we didn't really want to lay back on the French Riviera in our knickers and sip champagne! LOL!
Young women of all socioeconomic classes are disappearing and the curiosity of it all gets you on the trail of discovering why. The people in the town have cholera , so there's some annoying coughing in the beginning, blending in with some rather daunting music with a slight lilt from a flute. Strong orchestration- very well produced.
You are offered 3 game play modes and an interactive map that shows you where there is activity to be done. You also have a diary to keep your notes in and an integrated strategy guide. The cut scenes are well put together- talking and all. Just one thing, I thought this game took place in France, not somewhere like Louisiana. You just have to hear the accents to see what I mean. Come on game producers, technology has come a lot further than that! I do want to say that the graphics are bright, succinct and believable. The mini games are -at least the ones I've played so far- a little different- not real challenging, but thank goodness no connecting pipes, gears to place or weights to balance. The HOS games are crisp and bright and interactive- my favorite part- that's why I play Hidden Object games!
This is a CE, so since there are no real Extras such as Achievements, Morphing Objects, Collections, etc. I might just have to wait for the SE to come out.
So I'll just have to 'sniff' a little further and make up my mind what to do.

Different & good storyline......Except.....
Based on Demo:
I'm not going to repeat what everyone else has said...good graphics, interactive ho scenes & interesting puzzles.
What I really liked.....
You get to find & collect scents & recipes to create perfumes (since the bad guys killing women with a "perfume bomb" that dehydrates her body#.
What I didn't like..............
--I know others are saying there are collectibles to find, but I'm a pretty experienced player & I haven't found any yet.
--Everytime you click on something, it doesn't say "i need a key" or "I'll have to find the pieces to complete this"...it only says something like "what can I use here" and sometimes i found myself trying everything in my inventory to figure out what I needed #it may be something I don't even have yet#.
I found this extremely frustrating #as did another reviewer#!
--Hint just points you in a certain direction, but there's a strategy guide if you get the CE.
I really enjoy the fact that you get to find scents & create perfumes as that's really different, but since I can't find any collectibles....I can't see spending $13.99 for it. I'll wait for the SE.

Loved the game, wish it were longer in length though
I really enjoyed this game. Usually I dont go for this type of game (games set far back in the past), but this one was very good.
This masked man is going around killing people (mostly women) and kidnapping two women for some elixer he is making during the the time the cholera break out was in Europe. The masked man is an alchemist.
In the bonus play, you have to stop the masked man from do something else (he escapped in the main game).
Graphics were very good as well as the scenes. The scenes were actually good, not boring. The HOS were more on the ok side, not the best. There were quite a few items that required more than one item to get to (some 3-4 items). There werent very many HOS either, about 1 in each scene (some scenes didnt have any), and only some HOS were done twice. The puzzles were challenging and some were pretty easy. Was able to complete all. Making the potions was very easy too.
Another plus was there was a map! The map made it so much easier to get back to certain locations.

Something doesn't smell quite right
There were many things done well in this game. The excellent map for navigation, good quality of voice overs, and the unique use of the scent collection bottle which I haven't seen anywhere else. I also enjoyed the variety of action.
However, the graphics lacked beauty and were pale and washed out, the characters cartoonish, creating a total lack of atmosphere. The game play was not too easy, but certainly not challenging either. I only played the sample version, so I cannot comment on the storyline other than to say that there is a lot of apparently random killing no matter what the villans reasoning. So we are not trying to prevent harm but are simply following a trail of bodies. We are not, therefore, very good heros.
While I am sure this game will be enjoyed by some, I personally prefer games that take me to a place full of imagination, whether eerie, frightining, amazing, or enchanting. This world is flat.
