Yes, it's SUPPOSED to be silly...
It is a time/resource management game unlike any I've seen.
It has bright, cartoony graphics, deliberately stereotyped characters, and talking animals. It is "My Kingdom for the Princess" crossed with "Teddy Ruxpin," with a liberal helping of Candyland and a hint of car insurance commercial thrown in. (Yeah, you know the one I mean.) It took me a little while to get used to it, but then I started having a lot of fun. You won't enjoy it if you insist on taking it more seriously than it takes itself. It is not meant to enlighten, edify, inspire, or enlarge the mind. It is meant to entertain, and that is just what it does, if you let it.
The tutorial parts do take a while to get through, and that is a bit frustrating. Otherwise, it is a fast-paced and fun ride through a ridiculous world, and the perfect antidote to the stress of modern life, for those who are willing to accept a lot of whimsy in their entertainment. One thing I particularly like is that you rarely have to sit and wait for resources to be able to progress. There is nearly always something to do, and materials spawn quickly. Another thing I like is that the levels are broken up into smaller sections, so you complete one part at a time, and move on. This eliminates the possibility of focusing on the wrong area of the level, and completely missing an objective until there is no longer time to complete it. (Okay, yes, I've done that once or twice. Caught that, did you?)
If you enjoy games of this genre, I would suggest giving this one a try, but not if you're feeling very serious or terribly adult. That just won't work.

Immature but great de-stresser!
I actually really enjoyed this game - it is just a bit of fun. I turned the sound off in the first thirty seconds, but actually switched it back on again - it's not often I can tolerate a game with sound, but this is one of the exceptions!
Not a huge challenge, and very similar in layout to a lot of other Time Management games (Kingdom for the Princess sort of thing), but with the added thing that you have to find tools before you can remove some obstacles / find some items.
I probably won't spend any money on it, but have a couple of free game coupons, and would be willing to use one of those - it's a fun little game that doesn't require a lot of brain power or concentration - just something to play to relax!
The story line is entertaining, and I will always be sold by the concept of a talking cat!!

Really fun and different
I dont understand why most of you have given this game bad reviews, I LOVE IT.. Im half way through the game now, and I think that its really fun, and entertaining, and a little different from the usual TMG games there is.
Its true that you cant skip the dialog, but you can click through it, so i dont find that annoying. And about the level of help you are getting in the game, it gets less and less, the more levels you play, so after the first 6-8 levels, you have to think a little more about what you do.. Its not a super challenging game, but overall, i really like it, and i hope that some of you, give it a chance, I think its worth it..

I enjoyed it
I vary rarely play this type of game I decided to give it a go and I really enjoyed it .Maybe because I am not used to this style of game I had no expectations It was fun with clear instructions and no doubt children would love it . The plot is simple a car carrying a young woman and her cat leaves the road and gets stuck in mud A man dressed as a super hero comes to her rescue except you are now in another world and the young woman has the ability to do magic spells To get back to her own world we are now going on a quest including the cat ! I think the developers probably wanted to appeal to the whole family and maybe thats why some regular players found it unapealling

VERY MUCH FUN --- NO PRESSURE
For the type of game it is, it was quite fun. Took about 12 hrs straight. It is not timed which makes it even more enjoyable. You get points 1,2,3 etc. You do not have to bounce back and forth trying to figure out what to do next. And, yes, they are challenging.

A Bit Confusing
normally i don't write a demo review but since this is a new game i'll give it a go. i reached level 8 or 9. it's similar to MKFP and ROR, etc.
clear roads, build huts, saw mills, farms, information centers, and bridges, defeat enemies, etc.
what i found confusing is the mechanics. some items go into inventory and when used you have to double click to make it work. other items go into your tent and need just one click to use.
certain characters can only do certain actions, ie: only the cat picks up food. bubbles appear above the action telling you what you need.
gold, wood, food and crystals are staples.
the goals are tabbed with the buildings to buy so you need to switch tabs to see your goals which i did not like!
the story moves along with different characters talking to you before and during each level. i'll let you find that out when you play the demo.
demolish buildings, upgrade huts, buy more workers. also, the different huts earn rent gold and have citizens in them. some levels require a certain number of citizens.
if the game mechanics were more uniform i'd give it a 4 star rating since it would be more fun instead of frustrating when i forget i need to double click!
perhaps i would get used to it if i bought the game and continued playing. i do have a free game coming to me but i'm really on the fence with this one.
please try the demo before you buy because you just might have the same trouble getting used to it.

Goofy but fun.
Everyone seems to be comparing this game to Royal Envoy or My Kingdom for The Princess which it really isn't. This is exactly like The Golden Years: Way Out West. Of course the story line in the later was much, much better. The game play at the beginning was almost too simple and I was worried that it was a dumbed-down version of TGY. Assuming that the developers wanted to make darn sure the premise of how to play was understood because it got hard, very hard, further on. The instructions are no longer precise and you have to figure out for yourself the best way to complete the level in the quickest time. This is where it gets really fun. Strategy and city planning galore. I was disappointed in the story-line as it could've been much better and the attempt at humor fell very short, but if you can over-look that it really is a fun game to play. Strategically harder than The Golden Years. Juggling getting food, gems, and wood which all are used to build different structures that are needed. I'm currently stuck on a level and will be looking for strategy tips as soon as they're available. Worth a buy to at least get a break from the same 'ol HOG's over and over.

One of the Best TM games! Delightful, Whimsical, Challenging!
I am a true blue TM Fan, and I have to say I absolutely loved this game!! It is a mix of TM, Adventure and Strategy. It has some different elements that make it a bit challenging to get the hang of, but once you do, you won't be able to stop playing!!
The storyline is well thought out, the only annoying character I found was the cat. Other than that I loved them all. You start out driving your car on a country road when suddenly you find yourself transported into a fantasy world. You meet an exciting cast of characters all while trying to make your way to the person that can take you home.
I thought this was a terrific game and highly recommend it. I hope they make more like this one. It was a delight from start to finish!

Just fun.
Long tutorial, but it is clear how to play. Very well, you can always pass the level, even if the time is over. Nice comic art style. Just relax after work.

Classic TM with a giggle and a twist
The characters are too silly! They are just great fun. The TM action varies and is well animated. It was a little challenging to adjust to the game play, bit once I got my "click on" I thoughly enjoyed it. Pay attention to the tutorial levels!
