PuppetShow: Destiny Undone Collector's Edition 4.2 5 77 77
Formulaic, predictable, and boring...a disappointment TITLE?PuppetShow: Destiny Undone VERSION?Collector's Edition (demo) DEVELOPER?ERS GENRE?Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure STORYLINE?The puppet master has disappeared under mysterious circumstances and little Felicia has asked for your help to find him. OVERVIEW?I'm afraid I must diverge from the majority opinion. I found nothing to rave about in this game. It was the typically formulaic offering from this developer. GAMEPLAY?Point 'n' click adventure with HO scenes and puzzles. Gameplay is linear and quite simple; items needed are found relatively near to the place they're used. INTERFACE?Journal: Yes. Map: Yes. Hints: Point out object in HO scene; guide in adventure mode. Specials: Find 10 dolls/puppets, plus there's a "good" version of the spider puppet who helps you. And you can collect hat patterns to dress him up, a trend I detest. Strategy Guide: I didn't use it. Other: The inventory is the same as in the other games in this series, and it's an annoying fan-shaped pop-up in the corner. You can't lock it open because it obscures part of the screen, but it's slow to open, which really interferes with player immersion. TECHNICAL?I found the game rather slow to respond, and it seemed to take forever to move the cursor across the screen. GRAPHICS?Typical pastel impressionist style of this developer. Objects are difficult to recognize. CUTSCENES?Choppy animation, totally unlike the beautiful intro animation. MUSIC?That same music this developer always uses. Just turn it off. SOUND?Ambient and game sounds appropriate, but nothing special. VOICEOVER?Adults voicing children. Enough said. SUMMARY?I'll probably pick up the SE when it becomes a DD, just to complete my PuppetShow collection, but I can't recommend it. March 29, 2013
Simply Simple Having played games by this DEV before I expected a good adventure. The plot, graphics and creepy little puppets got me excited. Soon enough, the gameplay diminished that excitement. It's basically just too easy. Most of the puzzles are hardly challenging. Many of the needed puzzle pieces are too conveniently located VERY close to the puzzle. Why hide them at all??? A mechanical squirrel needs a nut. Oh, look, there's a nut right below his hole in the tree! How conveeeenient..... Anyway, the game plays well enough to enjoy if you are novice or don't like tough challenges. The HOGs seem on par with most other games. I've played enough games to expect/hope for a challenge and I just didn't fine it here.... NEXT! April 11, 2013
Not for the fellas Hey All...Tried demo for 30 minutes. If you are Nancy Drew or a 12 year old girl, the new PuppetShow is for you. It's one thing to go thru a game that caters to both sexes. This one will challenge your manhood. Even your new sidekick is a boy puppet, who looks too nice to get into any trouble. LOL. I'm not going to spoil it for others, go ahead and try demo, and it will become painfully obvious who this was developed for. March 28, 2013
PuppetShow: Destiny Undone Collector's Edition I agree completely with the review by "mycatluna". Based on the completed game and in addition to her/his review, at first I thought I was playing the last PuppetShow game. The scenes at the beginning were just like the beginning of their last game. When I finished the game, I felt like I could have saved $13.99 and just played the last PuppetShow game again. If you played the last PS game and are considering purchasing this one, I recommend waiting until they release the regular game. March 30, 2013
Boring This game was just like its predecessors. Nothing new or clever, very predictable. April 26, 2013
NOT MY FAVORITE This will not make it to your review section but it is true.....NOT MY FAVORITE and the tools things is too outdated. March 29, 2013
Disappointment to us all This latest in what is otherwise a great series falls far short of the others. Some of the items are named incorrectly for the search puzzles and the story is just awful. The music and visuals are good but the animation looks very stilted and the voice acting is also poor. Several of the puzzles were just pointless. March 17, 2014
