Gardens Inc.: From Rakes to Riches
What a beautiful world (if the world is blocky)
The game is to me a mix of the 'move rocks and debris off the path' and the 'Home Sweet Home' franchise of games in that you could 'earn' extra points by solving cryptic clues and then adhering to the answers. Or to put it in simple language answer clues and build the garden on the basis of the answers (see much clearer (about as clear as the mud you will be raking :)).
The game was a good concept and one that I would dearly liked to have loved, but for one huge foible, the graphics. Whilst the graphics were good and well executed for this type of game, the game resolution seemed to be programmed on a very low (possibly 800 by 640) screen resolution and didn't seem to be able to be changed in the options screen. Now I have a mid to low end computer that is about 3 years old, and integrated graphics card, thus not a high specification computer (there is a reason to this honest) , but as the graphics were this resolution and couldn't be altered it made the game seem very pixalated and blocky thus I couldn't really get into the game because the graphics hurt my eyes after a while (not smooth flowing), thus I had to abandon, if they ever did an update where the screen resolution could be changed then I would defiantly buy it, but as it stands I just can't justify.
On the plus side though the story-line is excellent for this type of game and starts of like a mini American drama series, whereby the game starts on the annual contest and then cuts back so you are playing in 'flashback' mode, very good concept for the is genre style.
The music was as good as others of this genre, but the whole issue of the graphics could not be compensated by others,
If you have an older computer, or laptop then I would defiantly recommend this game, otherwise I can't really recommend (IMHO)

Fun and addictive but takes too long to buy Villa upgrades
Surprisingly fun and addictive. Really enjoyed playing it ... for about a couple of hours. And then it got really tedious trying to collect enough $$$ to buy upgrades for the Villa & garden. Still good fun though if you have the patience to play the game through to completion.

Read the reviews and tried it then bought after the trial. but every 3 or 4 levels i have my worker go to collect an item and he starts hammering away. And freezes that spot so i can't collect anything and can't upgrade that building either. have to exit the level and sometimes the game to fix. anyway sending a tech report but have decided to uninstall as there are other games that don't have issues.
if not for this would have been at least 4 stars

This game needs to be updated to allow the use of a different cursor.
Very disappointing!! This game needs to be fixed so you can use another cursor other than the game cursor. It floats around the screen and you have no control over it in the higher levels. I want my money back. Bring back My Farm Life....we are sick of hardly ever getting a time management game and when we do they are terrible. I guess I'll be canceling my subscription AGAIN!!

Bugs make it impossible.
I enjoyed this game quite a bit until I hit level 34. One of the workers got stuck on an island, and the burglars never appeared. Since you need to chase off 4 burglars to finish the level, the game is immediately rendered impossible. Considering all the time I'd put into it to get to level 34, this is really frustrating, and took all the fun out of it.

I'm too old for games that require speed
I also do not play games to increase my stress level. It apparently is not possible to finish this game unless each level is completed at a specific speed. I can barely do a 10 minute one in 14 minutes. This would be a fun game if it had relaxed mode option.

A Lot of Work, Little Reward
I tried this out, liked it, purchased it. But now I wish I hadn't. The goal is to rebuild the manor house and gardens, but I don't ever reach the goal? I've played through all levels (I think there are about 10), and even with gold or silver times, you only earn about $1,000-$3,000 per game. Once you've hit #10, you just keep playing the same level. The cost to fix the manor house is about $200,000. If anyone has ever been able to do this, please tell me how you did it! Add about another $50,000-100,000 to fix the garden. You get tired of playing the same #10 level over and over.
