Redemption Cemetery: Salvation of the Lost Collector's Edition 3.8 5 73 73
Save the Souls I've enjoyed all the Redemption Cemetery games. Here, the developers hiked it up a notch. The plot is similar to the other games.... help save the souls of the restless dead. Now you get a map that is transportable. You have the raven again, but he is able to go into different elements ... dig, go into fire, etc. To get the raven to do this, you play mini games to "charge" that element. You also have a puppy that you are collecting medallions for, and with those, you can get trophies. There is a journal, hint button which recharges quickly, skip button which also charges quickly. 3 modes of play. I played on the easiest when trying out the demo. Very few HOS (yay). Puzzles were on the easy side. Graphics are crisp and clear and game ran perfectly. I do have to agree with Nilosh and his review.... there is just TOO much. The charging up of the raven (for me) interfered with the game play by having to stop and play the mini game. There is little to no interaction with other characters except for the ghosts telling you of their wrongs. I'm on the fence with this one. I liked it, but not enough to purchase the CE. ERS has stepped up & delivered an excellent game! TITLE?Redemption Cemetery: Salvation of the Lost VERSION?Collector's Edition (full game) DEVELOPER?ERS GENRE?Interactive Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure (supernatural) STORYLINE?A subway ride home takes a detour through the twilight zone to the end of the line: Redemption Cemetery. The Keeper of the Cemetery, Hina, takes your puppy, promising to return it safely to you if you free the three lost souls. Each is tortured by unfinished business from his or her life and it's up to you to resolve these issues so the souls can be at peace. OVERVIEW?Of the games in this series, I only really cared for the third one, Grave Testimony. I was hoping this installment was just as good, and it is. I knew long before the demo was over that this would be a buy for me. Well done, ERS! GAMEPLAY?Point 'n' click adventure interspersed with mini-games, puzzles, and iHOS. Some of the iHOS are list-based, others are silhouette where you must find a certain object in order to help you find another. The mini-games and puzzles are not too difficult, but do require some thought. And there are some unique ones we've not seen before. Additionally, your raven friend is back and has new abilities. SPECIALS?Find medals for your puppy. Complete sets of five to play games with your puppy (jigsaw puzzles, tic-tac-toe, concentration, and Simon Says). Really cute animation. CE BONUS?23 puzzles, 11 HO scenes, 4 puppy games (if you collect the appropriate medals), 13 wallpapers, 7 screen savers, 4 musical tracks, 24 videos, plus the bonus adventure which details a bit of background on the ongoing battle between good and evil. INTERFACE?JOURNAL: Keeps track of the storyline and records clues. MAP: Shows you where tasks are available and transports. HINTS: Directional in adventure mode and finds objects in the iHOS. STRATEGY GUIDE: Divided into chapters and step-by-step. SETTINGS?Sound, music, and voiceover volumes can all be set separately. There are three difficulty modes. GRAPHICS?Unmistakably ERS in its painterly style, but crisper and clearer, brighter and more colorful. They've definitely stepped it up. CUTSCENES?The intro and outro are 3D animation and stunning. Characters in the cutscenes are well-drawn and animated with decent lip synching. MUSIC?Finally, we no longer have to listen to the same composition! I did keep the volume down, but the music was orchestral and dramatic at times, and soft and sweet other times. SOUND?Excellent ambient and game sounds. VOICEOVER?Very well done, I thought. Hina the Keeper's voice was imperious, but kindly. All of the lost souls sounded properly penitent. SUMMARY?Salvation of the Lost, in my opinion, is the best of this series. Playing time was quite long. The overall storyline was the familiar Redemption Cemetery story, but the three souls' stories were captivating, each one very different from the others. Graphics, music, sound, and voiceovers were all on point. ERS has heard our pleas, and improved greatly to deliver a modern game that's fun and immersive with just enough difficulty to be challenging. I recommend it. April 20, 2013
Not my favorite but still fun., I really enjoyed all of the Redemption Cemetery games, but this isn't my favorite, The bonus chapter was long, but I didn't like the story line and some of the puzzles didn't seem logical to me. At one point in the bonus I had a lot of items in my inventory that didn't seem to fit anywhere. I ended up using the strategy guide a lot at that point just to get the game over with. I would rather have had a story about the lady who brought me to the cemetery than a bonus chapter about my dog being taken. I also didn't care for all of the puppy rewards. The games were lame. I give them an A for effort in trying something new, but skip the cutesy puppy next time. Still, overall a good game April 30, 2013
Good game but did not hook me completely..Technically is very well done, good graphics and soundtrack, many different locations to explore, interesting stories to play for helping the lost souls to find peace..various HOS, some really tricky, and easy but funny puzzles..Cute our little pet and nice the idea of minigames to play with him..There is an interactive map, showing you locations with available tasks, the helping crow, and a journal.. 3 modes of gameplay to choose from, you can change it while playing..Took me round about 4.30 to play the full game, bonus included, needed to complete the collection of medals for the puppy and unlock the minigames, but the story ends conclusively even without it.. Is a good game, perfect as SE, but missing something to be a 5 stars Collector Edition.. April 27, 2013
Another Great Game In This Series ... Nice Introduction Movie, Nice Graphics & Nice Sound ... And Reasonable Game Duration ... A Nice Continuation Of The Series, But Like Others I Expected A Bit More This Time Around ... The HOGS Were A Mix Of Regular & Creativity Thinking ... And Some Of The Puzzles Became Tiresome ... I Would Have Preferred A Bit More Adventure ... It Was Well Worth The Half-Price Deal ... April 25, 2013
Why Me? Why have I been chosen to help the restless souls find peace? I didn't go to school for that you know! This chick locks up my dog and exchanges him for an angry raven? Seriously? Nevermore. ~ Bright, Appealing Graphics ~ Huge amount of extras including Puppy's Room, Trophy Gallery, 13 wallpapers, 21 concept art images, 23 puzzles to replay, 7 screensavers, 11 HOS to replay, 22 videos and some music. ~ Strategy Guide, Map, Notebook and angry Raven companion animal with powers of fire, earth, air and water. ~ Enough content and running around to turn you into a lunatic Well done! Another Great Game in the Series I have really enjoyed this series and I am happy to say the quality of the series has remained strong throughout. This installment is not as dark as previous games but kept well with the theme of saving souls. The artwork is top-notch and the story-line flow is entertaining. There were two varieties of HOS: Interactive where you find a silouetted item and use it to find another and standard HOS. These scenes have just the right amount of challenge. There's an interactive map that allows one to jump to different locations. There are also trophies for getting items for your cute puppy. Your crow familiar receives special abilities to help you and you must complete puzzles to keep these topped up. All around a great game. April 19, 2013
Gotta Love Redemption Stories!! Only 1 thing to say....BUY IT!!! April 25, 2013
A good game The game started off really well, interesting storyline, good graphics, jump map, interactive and varied HOs and puzzles which were slightly challenging, although well-known, What let it down a little for me was that it felt relatively short with only 3 chapters and the bonus chapter. Also the zoo chapter just seemed 'out of place' with the rest of the game...but maybe thats just me. Very good bonus chapter tho, so overall i did enjoy the game and would recommend. April 23, 2013
Good enough, but not as good as the last Fairly good game and I would add it to my collection. Nice balance of HO"s a different types of HO's. Fairly easy puzzles. characters were good and music was great. Interaction with animals and bugs cool. Great game for kids. Has lots to do but easy breezy game. April 19, 2013
