Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe's The Masque of the Red Death Collector's Edition
All the games in this sequel started to look identical
I am a former fan of this game, but I've definitely stopped.
All the games from the series are looking exactly the same, Same music (felt refreshing in the first two from the series, now is really annoying), same graphic (hard to tell which episode you play), same outfits, same mini games... etc.
Was difficult for me to finish the Premature Burial due to this stereotype approach and I will not make the effort of buying this one (The Masque of the Red Death).
Edgar Allan Poe's stories are not the same, each one comes with unique elements, with unique drama. You feel reading more and more...
I think the project strategy for Edgar Allan Poe's series has to be definitely revised!

Played about 30 minutes of the demo and deleted the game.
I was just very bored!
You are a detective called to help solve some problems in a town, not sure why, unless I missed something. Storyline is so familiar that it did not grab me in the slightest.
Graphics were not as clear as we have come to expect and the scenes were not anything special. Puzzles and HOs were bog standard and so no interest there either I'm afraid.
There are extras such as your own office where collectibles are stored and a set of scales where you can weigh up evidence...I don't need these things to enjoy a game, so they added nothing for me.
All in all just a very dull game that we have seen (and played) many times before!

Wish I had demo'd this first...
It was a mistake to trust that the quality of the other Dark Tales games I've played was a reason not to download and play the demo before purchasing. Truth be told, of the Dark Tales games that I have played, I enjoyed The Premature Burial most, and each game I have played after that one I have found to be less and less enjoyable. Particularly annoying in The Masque of the Red Death is the depiction of Dupin, who is practically useless. I mean, he does absolutely nothing. I couldn't recommend this one, but I think it's fair to point out that if you play enough of these types of games, it really takes something special to elevate the experience, and what was enjoyable when you first began is much less so going forward. So bear that point in mind as you read my review.

Maybe I'm having a bad day, but I absolutely CANNOT STAND when the "hint" button is so close to the action. I have accidentally hit it TWICE after starting the game again - so I can finish it without a hint. Otherwise - great game, but this really, really annoys me.

Cashing In On the Genius Of Edgar Allen Poe!
What is wrong with ERS? I have purchased and played all the Dark Tales games, Haunted Legends, etc., etc. This one was a lesson in boredom and repetition. One half of pliers, other half, rivet--on and on. The puzzles were simply awful. Closed my eyes and clicked and solved! Ridiculous!
Demo looked new and exciting, however, after purchase, reality set in. No more ERS for this gamer. ERS truly seems to have lost their drive, their hearts and souls that at one time, went into their developing. They are now "punching out" games.
It's been real. It's been nice. It's been real nice. However, there are other developers that deserve the praise now!
Enjoy! -Mama Mia-

NOT TOUCH SCREEN FRIENDLY
No, not for me. I want something up to date and fun.....this is just cumbersome and the graphics are sub-standard.
