STILL EMPRESS OF THE DEEP NUMBER 1 FAN! This was the first series of HOPA games that I ever played way back in the day, so I may be partial but I love the ongoing sagas that Anna faces. With an evil twin sister and Jacob the mentor who is possibly corrupt and the beautiful animals that help Anna with her quests what's not to like? I don't want to be a plot spoiler so please take my word on this one and start at the beginning with Empress of the Deep (but not a necessity to play this game) I believe that you will enjoy the storyline. The graphics are well done but keep in mind that it is a fantasy based theme. The only complaint I have is the HOS items are a little on the small side, but there is a cool feature of the game and that is unlocking the zen feature which is a match 3 game with a little bit of spunk, enjoy! What A Wonderfully Created Game ... Great Graphics, Cinematic Quality Feel To The Sound And Great Continuation Of A Story ... And So Much Attention To Detail ... I Love Games That Draw You In And Make You Feel That You Are Part Of The Experience ... With My Head Phones On, This Game Does Just That ... Game Duration Was Long, And Left Me Wanting More. Because Of A Few Too Many Bad Reviews I Didn't Buy The CE And Wish I Had ... Come On BigFish, It's Time To Offer An After-Sale "SE To CE Upgrade Pack" Facility (Just With The Extra Game Play) ... Loved it I just finished the game... I agree with another person on here.. The game reminds me of the Myst games. Which, is the first adventure game I have ever played. So, I loved the look of the world and the areas. PROS Very long game Beautiful Graphics - Wonderful world - draws you in. Cut-scenes keep the story-line going. keeps you interested. Morphing object scenes. (instead of standard HO) find the circled images in a scene. (instead of standard HO) No repeated HO's scenes, as far as i remembered. Transport machines. To transport you to another area CONS A little to much dialog - but not extreme. Cut-scenes are choppy.. - But, I can live with that. MAP - but cannot be used for transportation. Have to use the transport stations throughout the game but you are limited to transporting to other stations. cannot just go anywhere. Try it:) If you wanted something different.. or you liked the Myst series. I am more than satisfied with my experience. May 21, 2013
BEST OF THE SERIES SO FAR I liked the first 2 Empress games (both with good length) and this one is more interesting. Just as they were, this is an adventure game with a few well-detailed HOS thrown in. Beautiful graphics; good storyline involving the Empress and her evil twin. Next goals are known but you have to figure out how to attack them, which can be quite challenging in itself. Rapid Transit is good, since the map only shows locations already discovered and doesn't directly transport you there. Empress has a pleasant voice. The other characters seem to be the same voice disguised slightly. Sort of sad at the beginning when the phoenix is to die. May 10, 2013
After a slow start where I thought I might give it a miss, I have found this to be a very beautiful game. The scenes are all fanciful of course, but clear, colourful and really lovely. The story line is good. No evil beings other than a sister I haven't met yet. There is, eventually a map when the game gets really underway. The diary is useful and the hints fill quickly in casual mode. There are three modes to choose from if you want to be really challenged. Lots of magic and a Key Master who leads you along the way. If you love fanciful and charming, then this is for you. September 20, 2013
Love this entire series This was the first game I purchased on my iPad gen 1. Was hooked and quickly bought the second game for the iPad, the third was bought for my lap top. Cool continuing story, lovely graphics, and fun and unusual games not found to often in other games. The first game the main character, Anna, is confused as to what is going on, with the second she is more aware, and by the third she is fully in command and is sure footed as to her goal. I've played several series of games, and this is the first progression of a character I've encountered. Are the mini puzzles brain busting difficult? No, they aren't, not by any long shot, but they do hold the interest, there were only two I had to skip. I cant ever manage to do the "flip the tiles all over" or the "click all of the tiles on" games, no idea why, just totally beyond me. Only one of those hateful puzzles. There were many match the bits of picture to the area on the picture puzzles. And while there is always at least one tricky, look for a bit circles, they aren't to hard. The voice overs are fairly well done, which is a blessing. The items in the hidden puzzles are named correctly. None of this nonsense of calling a tool by the wrong name, or really obscure item names. I've played this series of games at least 10 times, and find them enjoyable each time. June 25, 2014
Fantastic! Years ago, Empress of the Deep was one of the first games I bought - and I loved it because the art is just out of this world - top drawer, beautiful, classical art - These are really pros. However, I would say this game would be even more fun with an interactive map. As well the hints are pretty abstract - 'go to the railing by the gate' - what gate? There are a ton of different scenes and areas and you can get pretty lost! Oh! THAT gate!?! ;o) .. but no matter- the game's art and story are just so fantastic that I will just have to step up and not be lazy about having to work a little harder! Keep on keeping on Silverback Productions! Looking forward to Empress Number 4! ;o) June 6, 2014
I love this series! I thought it was interesting! I read other reviews on it that said it was boring and not enough of a challenge. Sorry, but I don't agree. There are some areas that are a challenge, but mostly it's just a really fun story. If you have worked through all of the previous Empress games, you understand why you walk all over the place to get through the game. It all ties in together. I enjoyed it! September 7, 2013
Just Fabulous! Reading other reviews here made me hesitate in trying this game, but after a short play on the demo I bought it. To say it blows away other HO games would be an understatement. The graphics, atmosphere, VO and spell binding scenes are amazing. I found some HO scenes challenging, but overall Silverback should be congratulated on a spectacular game, worthy of whatever rewards are given to developers. August 2, 2013
