what a new fun game to play Great game with lots going on. The graphics are great. Good music and voice over. Pretty good storyline that keeps you interested in wanting to keep playing. The HOS are good and some are interactive. The puzzles are also good. Some easy some needs some thought. There are lots of achievements to find which makes it fun. Seems like more than other games. The hint button works good and not too slow to recharge. Just a fun game. you will love it. June 8, 2013
oh my, a fantastic game with something for everyone! it's not often that a demo sucks me in to the point where I'm disappointed when it ends. and thanks to BFG for releasing it on a sale weekend! I rarely even trial CEs, but if you're going to give it to me at a discount... I absolutely love this game. the graphics are excellent, the sound and voiceovers above par. some of the best live actors in existence. the hidden object scenes are not difficult, but contain interactive items and find x candles, etc. there was a spot-the-difference, but it was a mirror image. the puzzles weren't difficult either but were fun. this game has more collectables than any I've played. you're looking for at least four different types of items. there are also achievements. the storyline sucked me in. I can't wait to finish the game and find out what happens! June 8, 2013
Well Worth the Wait!! I have been following this game on the developers website and was beyond thrilled when I saw it on BFG today. These are the same devs that gave you Final Cut: Death on the Silver Screen and Amaranthyine Voyage so you know you're going to get a top notch game. You are called to the scene to find out why everyone is leaving Lindon Orphanage. There are reports of a mysterious figure in red haunting the building. The location is spooky. The HO scenes are fun. The games are far from boring. The acting is great-not forced and fake. There are collectables to find and more than one. They have thought of everyone in this game. And to be able to purchase on a sale? Bonus! This game is well worth it. Now I must get back to my investigation. Happy Hauntings everyone! June 8, 2013
Not bad at all After playing the demo, I became more interested in this game. Graphics however are a bit grainy but not too bad. Yes there are a lot of HOS almost too many for my taste, but they are fun and interactive. Lots of collectables, like crayons and tapes you can listen to that add to the story, but it is the story that drew me in. You never hang on to your objects very long and it makes sense where you need to apply them. Cutscenes are very lifelike where as the game is drawn. Map shows you where there are objectives to do. Good weekend sale to take advantage of this one June 8, 2013
WONDERFUL Didn't think I'd find this game anything but average from the description. But it's actually quite wonderful. You are a new reporter who has been sent by her editor to investigate a supposedly haunted orphanage which has been closed. Its former inhabitants claimed to see bloody red ghosts floating around. Story and gameplay are fairly fast paced and quite enjoyable. This is a buy for me. 3 modes of play. Voice overs and actors are very, very good. The puzzles are not too difficult, although I had to think a bit on what to do for a couple of them. I didn't find any instructions, but maybe I just missed them. The HOS were lists of distinctly detailed objects that were not too difficult to find and the scenes weren't unnecessarily crowded. Map shows where there are areas with outstanding activities. Journal shows your objectives and the evidence collected. There are 20 achievements. You should collect all letters, crayons, toys and I think there was something else but can't recall. I didn't play the tutorial, so don't know if players were told to collect them - I may have just stumbled across them. June 8, 2013
Exciting Storyline I am definitely purchasing this game. The story line is intriguing and I just have to play it out to find out what happens. The HOG's however are extremely easy, but the other interactions of the game are really good. I just have to find out what happened to those children in the orphanage. Highly recommend this game. A very light, dark game. This review is based on my playing experience after finishing the full game + Collector's Edition Mode. I finished them both in about 5 hours playing at the most difficult setting at my own pace which means without using hints or skips at puzzles, reading everything in my journal and enjoying the beautiful locations and music at their fullest. However, the most difficult setting was not at all so difficult because of the games' structure. You are using the objects found in near locations so you won't travel 9 locations to use an object found in the beginning of the game for example. Moreover, the map helps you travel fast and shows the available actions and goals to meet. You can turn that off in the Expert setting difficulty. In the beginning, the game could seem very short, as you cover the whole map very fast but then the map changes, having no way of turning back. I took that as a checkpoint and a beginning of a new chapter because you start fresh. The game seems very scary at first, especially when the red ghost is trying to pull you down, throwing a rock at you and scaring you continuously, but in the end you will see that you had no reasons at all to be frightened. The action takes place in daylight and what I enjoyed most is that it resembles the reality 100%. There are no supernatural powers, mythological creatures or extraterrestrial activities. The only thing which doesn't match is the red ghost whom you will uncover in the end. The story is sublime, you find audio tapes around your journey which reveal the past of the story and motivates you to continue. It features real actors in the cut-scenes. The music suit this game very much. The hidden object scenes are well done, you don't only need to find all the objects but you must interact with them to reveal new ones and also there's frequently a very easy mini game attached to them, like matching the shapes of some objects. The actual game puzzles are easy but I found 2 of them extra hard and I had to use the strategy guide on them. The extras is very massive, it contains lots of goodies, from behind the scenes of filming, to beautiful artwork and it offers you the chance to replay the hidden object scenes. The extra game play will take you 1 hour and a half for good and the achievements will keep you busy replaying the game for at least 2 times to grab them all. All in all, it is a splendid light game which resembles the reality and turns dark at parts but there are no things to be afraid as there are no dead bodies or crimes happening. The kids could play this too without being afraid. June 9, 2013
Hidden Gem I did something I rarely do....buy a game based on reviews alone. Gotta tell ya I was not disappointed! One of the best to come down the pike in a while. Totally worth it for a CE and a lot of fun! Take a chance and I promise you won't be disappointed. June 8, 2013
BEAUTIFULLY DONE!! I loved this game...It was so real like..I like the fact of collecting items..I'm hoping because of the way it ended that there will be a part 2??...WTG DEVS GREAT JOB!! June 13, 2013
A Game That Exceeds All Expectations This game comes from game developer Eipix and I am incredibly impressed with their games; most recently, this wonderful HOPA that I can foresee being a contender for one of the best HOPA games of 2013. Compared against the same old and tired cookie-cutter games that the casual gaming market seems to be flooded with as of late; this game from Eipix stands apart from the rest. I won't go into much detail about the game mechanics as others have already covered that area thoroughly. What I will say is that everything from the opening cut-scene to the final credits (which are hilarious by the way and I recommend reading through them) were done exceptionally well. 5 stars all across the board as far as the game mechanics, voice-overs, storyline, atmosphere and ambiance. The game is bright and colorful while still maintaining a chilling experience and can be enjoyed by a variety of players as it does not delve into the occult; it is a mystery to solve and is extremely well-polished. It is obvious from the start that the developers put a lot of hard work into this game, which, as a player, I really appreciate. There is a perfect balance of adventure, HOS, mini-games and mystery to keep the player entertained and invested. The puzzles were just difficult enough to provide a challenge but not so difficult that players will get frustrated and hit the 'skip' button. All skill levels will most likely find the mini-games and puzzles both fun and solvable. The CE does include 3 different types of collectibles that are very well hidden. I liked the extra challenge of trying to locate all of the collectibles due to the difficulty level of trying to locate some of them. The fact that their locations were not blatantly obvious really increased the fun factor. There are also achievements, an enjoyable bonus game, the usual wallpaper and concept art, a rather enjoyable 'making-of' video and a few other extras that aren't often seen packaged with CE's. Even without the bonus chapter or all of the extras, this game would still be well worth the CE price tag if you are able to afford it. Otherwise, the SE will be just as enjoyable as the game wraps everything up nicely at the end so all players, regardless of game version purchased, can enjoy it which I find admirable on the part of the developers. The length of the game is just right. It's not a short game by any means, nor is it too long to the point where a player may begin to get bored. You will get your money's worth of playing time with this one. I spent at least a solid 6-7 hours on this (roughly 5 hours on just the main game) and consider myself an expert player. I did read the journal, watch all cut-scenes, find all the collectibles, attempted to earn as many achievements as possible, did not skip any dialog, puzzles or HOS, or use the hints or the map. The interactive map that let's you jump from location to location is nice to have, but not really necessary as there is not a lot of backtracking in this game, which means less filler and fluff and more actual game-play, which is also appreciated. I look forward to more games by this developer as they have definitely set the bar high in the HOPA genre. Very well done game. Bravo to those that worked very hard on this enjoyable game; your efforts paid off. I highly recommend this game to players of all skill levels. July 10, 2013
